SeaCoast Sports and Outfitters has an excellent selection of clothing, sporting goods, and…read moreaccessories. Their prices are on par with other local and online retailers. For years, they've offered a 15% local discount to residents of Seabrook, Kiawah, and lower Johns Island. Their sister stores in Freshfields offer the same. For years, I've shown my license and been granted a 15% discount, as I live about 1 mile from the store on Johns Island. I live closer than any Kiawah residents (Cassique is 2 miles), while the Marsh Oak condos at Bohicket Marina (Seabrook) are indeed closer than my house. This year I was told by management that they "never" offered discounts to anyone other than Seabrook Club or Kiawah Club members with a Club card. My years of receipts prove otherwise. It's hard for me to continue to support a local business when they are claiming they never had a policy that existed. It's fine if they choose to change their policy, but please do not lie about it.

The styles cover all age ranges...with many of the same pieces looking as good on me at age 68 as my 35 year old daughters. They will also order a size for you if it is not in stock. I appreciate the staff taking the time to pull many items for me I would never have thought about trying. They then finish the look off (if you want) with jewelry and shoes. Holly and Brooks is one of my favorite stores actually anywhere because of the personal service my family and I have received.

First let me say that both of my sisters have exquisite taste. They are both well-traveled, well-groomed, polite and have money to spend. They both have had a very rough couple of months as of late and were looking forward to a little retail therapy. They would have spent some (or perhaps a generous amount) of that money last Monday, with any encouragement, but apparently the clerk in attendance had a bee in her bonnet and wanted to put the kibosh on that scenario. Perhaps the clerk has had a rough couple of months too, but if sales is your livelihood, snap out of it or stay home... that should not be the customers' problem. You are in retail and it's your job to be friendly and helpful. One sister had secured her dressing room and the second sister approached. The Clerk (I would refer to her as sales associate, but as I mentioned before, she clearly wasn't interested in sales or even making guests in the store feel comfortable or welcome) told the second sister she would have to wait, as the dressing rooms were occupied. The Clerk went away and the sister with the dressing room invited in the second sister. Both sisters were in the dressing room in various states of undress when the clerk threw open the curtain and said, "How's that fitting?" Here, I will insert a note to the extraordinarily rude and out-of-line clerk: NEVER disregard the privacy of potential customers. Whipping open the curtain is an emotional assault. It is customary in civilized circles (from Bergdorf Goodman right on down to Target) to approach the outside of the curtain, inquire cheerfully as to how things are going in there, and ask if there is anything needed in a different size, or can I get you anything else? THESE are the questions. And THIS is how it's done. From behind the curtain! But wait. There's more. So the second sister is trying on a dress that has a belt with it. The first sister thought it much more flattering on the second sister without the belt. An aside here: the first sister spent decades in the fashion industry in New York City. She knows what looks good. She knows how to style. She knows what style is. Apparently, The Clerk thought she did too. She grabbed the belt from the second sister and said, "NO! It goes like this!" She wrapped the obi type sash around my sister's waist and commanded, "Put your finger HERE!" What are we... six years old and having our first lesson in tying bows on Christmas presents? Again, RUDE and totally uncalled for! When people enter a store looking to brighten their day with a little shopping, the last thing they need is condescension and unfriendly treatment. Needless to say, my sisters both left this store with nothing but a very sour taste in their mouths courtesy of The Clerk. In the words of the Dalai Lama, "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." It also promotes the spending of money when you treat people nicely. Just sayin'.

We're starting all over now in Charleston. I noticed a bump on my eyelid, & upon closer inspection, saw it was an ingrown eyelash. I had one years ago, so 'what to do'? We haven't developed a relationship with any ophthamologists here. While shopping at Whole Foods on Savannah Highway, we noticed a small center nearby - mostly medical offices. One was Low Country Eye Care, so we walked over to ask about removing my eyelash. Today, Dr. Sanjana Vitta did the job in minutes! With a smile! She was charming, efficient & a sweetheart. The rest of the staff is the same. The office itself is clean and well-designed. The entire experience was beyond our expectations!

Dr Vitta was very thorough, addressing some eye health concerns I had and putting me at ease. I followed up with a purchase of frames and lenses, working with Ms Colette Mack. She was patient with me while I tried on nearly every frame they had, helping me find just the right glasses. I was equally impressed with her when I picked my glasses up. This is the most accurate prescription I've had in years! I can see so clearly now! I am grateful to the terrific staff at this office and I would recommend them highly to anyone needing eyecare!
