L and R Home Improvement

My husband and I hired L&R Home Improvement to paint 4 rooms in our house in late April. We chose…read morecolors and they gave us an estimate. We ended up changing our colors to lighter colors, resulting in less paint being needed but the estimate did not change. They told us it would take 4 days to paint. On the first day I came home from work early, they were on the back porch smoking. Which is fine, everyone needs to take breaks. But when I went out there to say I was home and compliment them on what had been done so far, I was asked in between cigarette drags to sweep up their mess in the kitchen. They also let us know that they started later than expected because they stayed out too late the night before. Their professionalism (really their lack thereof) was astounding. On the second day they told us they were rushing to get everything done that day because they had just booked a big job for the next two days. The last two rooms that were painted were done with dirty paint rollers. There is a noticeable difference in the paint that was brushed on around trim/door frames/outlets/vents, etc. There were also a few spots on the walls where you could see dirty water from the roller had dripped down and dried an ugly brown color. We were told to wait 7 days until the paint had completely dried and let them know if anything needed to be fixed. After the seven days passed we reached out to them via text and let them know that the cut ins were lighter than the rest of the walls in our bedroom and bathroom and needed to be fixed. We were told they were busy with lots of jobs right now and they would reach out to us when we could be put on the schedule. It wasn't a huge deal as it wasn't a central living space in the house or anything so we were fine with waiting. Over 3 months passed and we still had not heard anything from L&R. I reached out to them and they scheduled with us for this morning, and also told us to buy the paint. I said no, because a) they never adjusted the estimate with the lower cost of materials and b) the error in the painting was not caused by us and we should not have to pay extra for it. They relented and said they would be here Monday morning. My husband and I moved furniture, put our dog up, and left a house key in a lockbox for them so this could be finally be taken care of. I received a text around 2pm that they were unable to make it because wi-fi was being set up at their house and the technician had just left. I'm not sure why it took until 2 to realize that they would be late, let alone not be able to come at all. In lieu of rescheduling (as I no longer trust them to keep a schedule or do quality work) I've requested they bring us the paint to fix it ourselves along with a partial refund for the incredible inconvenience they caused, the wait they put us through, and the crappy paint job in two rooms. They left paint cans in our driveway and that was all. Throughout all communication with them they and never once apologized for their many mistakes or even acknowledged that they had done anything wrong. I strongly advise you find another company to do business with, our experience with L&R Home Improvement was nothing incredibly unsatisfactory with unprofessional painting and customer service at every point in the unnecessarily drawn out process.

Working with the team at Eugene's has been an absolute delight from start to finish. Having been through the process of having solid stone countertops installed in a previous home, I knew how long and drawn out the process can be. I shopped around and got quotes from many local fabricators before selecting EMG. I was first impressed with Galya and Diana's fantastic communication and turnaround time on my initial quote with multiple stone options. They also worked with me on my tight schedule. Templating, fabrication, and installation only took 4 business days. Their attention to detail is unparalleled. Before any cuts were made they showed me what it would look like on the slab that I selected. Many of the other fabricators told me that to do my kitchen I would need 2 slabs and multiple seams. EMG flawlessly covered my entire kitchen with only one seam (at the sink) and even covered my buffet. As anyone in the building trades will tell you, houses in the Low-Country are never square or level. The installers leveled my countertops within 1/16 of level all the way around. Initially I had purchased brackets to go under the bar area on my countertops. The installer pointed out that it was not needed and refunded me the money. The bottom line, EMG saved me money, time, and their attention to detail is pure perfection and their customer service can't be beat. read more

I went to Eugene's on the recommendation of my daughter and her friend. They told me how great the service was and how professional and customer-oriented the staff is. They were not wrong! I did not just take their word for this, I checked other places, compared prices and Eugene was either similar or better priced. But, more importantly, they were absolutely fabulous in dealing with me and my anxiety over selecting the wrong counter top. Absolutely no pressure was put on me, they walked the lot with me, answered all my questions, even suggested if I was "overwhelmed" to come back the next day (which I did). The installation crew did a super job. Being anxious to get the installation done, I suggested they could come "any time after 6:00 AM". They showed up at 6:15 AM lol! I can't recommend EMG highly enough!! My husband and I (as first-time customers) arrived at the office on a Wednesday, with hopes of selecting a new vanity countertop for our master bathroom. We were greeted by Diana, the general manager, who patiently and professionally assisted us in selecting the perfect piece of quartz for our project. On Friday, Victor came to our house to take all the appropriate measurements, and on Monday, the nice crew came and installed it. The experience start to finish - picking out the quartz slabs thru installation - was pain free. The professionalism, attention to detail, and final product is definitely 5 out of 5 but furthermore, they were also the lowest cost vendor of the three I considered!! The team at Eugene's Marble & Granite was outstanding! It started with thoughtful advices and infinite patients, as we changed our mind multiple times about material and layout. We decided to have a waterfall, and, as it wouldn't fit into our slab, they found the piece to create a stunning butterfly match. Then there was a difficult installation, with maneuvering a large piece between two columns. It went great - quickly, clean, and cheerful. Our kitchen looks great!! It was my first time working with EMG and It all turned out great! Diana (the GM) was very helpful at their office/showroom- we selected the slab for my kitchen and bathroom, then she provided me with the quote for the whole project. The next day their guy (Victor?) stopped by my place and got all the measurements. He was very knowledgeable, he even recommended I do a full backsplash- it turned out wonderful, I'm glad I followed his advice. For anyone doing a remodel your leg work is done for you when it comes to the counters. EM&G has a great selection of materials in quartz, granite, marble, and man-made material. We chose a beautiful natural quartz. While price was not the deciding factor, EM&G has the best pricing. The installers and fabricators are VERY detailed and proud of their work. It shows! I have remodeled 14 kitchens. I always get multiple quotes and estimates for delivery and EUGENES always has the best prices and by far the quickest delivery/ install. Their installers are amazing- not only for countertops but also for backsplash. If you are looking for a countertop/ backsplash firm you would be making a huge mistake not to use Eugene's. Galya and her team went above and beyond the call of duty! Our vacation condo needed new countertops and we were only there for two weeks. She arranged to install 2 days before we left. During install we discovered the sink we selected was too deep for the current plumbing. I called in a plumber and he moved all of the lines down. These guys are great! Our under counter mounted sink was dropping. Whoever originally put it in did not install it correctly. EMG came out and dropped the sink and reinstalled it correctly. The stone sample I initially reviewed showed little to no visible discoloration. Unfortunately, the actual slab installed in my home has significant color inconsistencies on both sides of the stove that resemble burn marks. There is also a crack at the sink that appears to have been covered rather than properly addressed, along with multiple chips in the stone surrounding the sink. Additionally, the two seams do not line up properly. The seam on the actual countertop is positioned several inches away from the corresponding seam on the backsplash, resulting in an installation that looks poorly planned and unfinished. I have made repeated attempts to have these issues addressed, but my concerns have largely been dismissed. I have been waiting for more than a month to hear directly from the owner regarding a reasonable resolution, only to ultimately be told, in essence, that nothing would be done. The most frustrating part of this experience has been the lack of accountability after payment was made. My experience has left me feeling that the level of attention and customer service I received before the sale was very different from what I experienced afterward. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I strongly encourage prospective customers to thoroughly inspect the finished product and, before making final payment, get clear assurances regarding how installation defects, damage, and quality concerns will be handled.

Found out after a water loss that additional damage resulted from them not removing the linoleum and just placing the laminate flooring over it. Yet they got paid and we didn't find out until it had to be pulled up. Shady. They don't stand behind their warranty either. The flooring installation in the upstairs bathroom was installed incorrectly and they didn't clean the debris from before installing. We tried to get them to fix under warranty and they claim we need to pay for their installer to come out and if he agrees it was the installer fault they'll reimburse us. This isn't how a reputable business should operate. If you're going to hire them you better watch them the entire time or they will cut corners. Spending time in small claims court wasn't how I wanted to resolve this, but since they won't do the right thing we'll have to see if a Judge agrees with us.
