There's a lot to be said about that! I also recall that when I graduated (less than 10 years ago) the percent of students who opted NOT to go to college was as low as 10%. Although I graduated from Foothill, I did attend Amador as well. Both schools were excellent but if I had a choice I would have stayed at AVHS. I found that the school's population was a lot more diverse here. Kids were coming from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds (as diverse as they get in P-town) and by comparison my classmates at Foothill were mostly all from gated the communities and stucco palaces that line Foothill road. We can all admit that any child who grows up in Pleasanton is fortunate but I would suggest that if you went to Amador vs. Foothill - you might grow up a little more well-rounded and ready for the real world. Foothill was a great school academically (they're on par with each other in that dept) but it was just not as diverse as Amador.

No joke, Ms. Walters, sings to them to; line up, clean up, straighten up, quiet down etc.... the kids respond quickly & as if they were all under hypnosis. For preschool and pre-k my son attended a private school. I never thought a public school could beat a private school out on every category you could think of. The teachers actually care about the progress of each student. My son has learned so much attending this school. Also my son had a speech impediment and a speech therapist met with my son throughout the years and he no longer needs speech therapy. A+++

Ms. Cavanas is amazing also Ms. Jessie (elementary director) and Ms.Asita (Head of school) are very helpful and understanding. They always work with our family as a team to ensure our son gets the best out of the school. The school has a family feeling, we always know that our son is well looked after and we can communicate with the school and teacher anytime. For the most part, this is a good school district within a wealthy community where the funding is…read moregood and the parent participation is wonderful. However, if your child suffers from bullying, the motto, 'Kids Come First', is quite the opposite. Where the the bully comes first is actually more like it. Administration becomes robotic and uncaring. If you threaten to pull your child, they run around promising the world (so as not to loose the $5000+ per year they get for your student) only to disappoint and ultimately make your child suffer by doing nothing to solve the problem if you decide to keep your child in their school. Same old problem, no solutions, intensely inflexible, robotic administration. Time for an alternate solution that's best for my kid. Because my KID comes first to me.

Bullying is not properly managed, drug use isn't stopped or properly dealt with (soooo many people there are addicts), and overall a toxic place. Very cliquey too. Office staff sent people on 51/50s for simply saying they were depressed!
