This is actually probably the nearest fish and chip shop to where I live, however due to the excellence that Five Star (Station Road) and the good reputation of Top Gun, until recently I'd never even been to Victoria Fish Bar. The food in my opinion is pretty average, in particular I really wasn't that keen on the fish. The staff on the other hand were incredibly friendly and chatty and I almost come back purely due to them. What is special about this place though, is that it's one of the only Fish and Chip shops which is open on a Sunday. So whilst from Monday to Saturday I'd recommend going somewhere else, if you find yourself on a Sunday with a desperate craving for Fish and Chips, you know just where to go.

It felt as if they were like: yea sure you can order what you want but we'll serve you what we think you should eat! The food isn't the best to be honest, if you're in the mood for a nice burger then there are better options in my opinion. The two stars are for the price (it was reasonable), and the atmosphere. But frankly, I wouldn't go back again.

I am American and a sucker for diners back home (especially in New Jersey) so when I discover Americana like this, I always have to check it out. So my daughter and I did just that (she goes to the local university). I ordered one of the burgers which, I must say, was pretty darn good! She also had one and loved it just as much. They were reasonably priced as well. I don't remember the prices but did take a photo of the menu, so you can check it out here. The desserts were also good - and fattening, especially the milkshakes and cheese cake. Sure, it was an American style diner and for the 45 minutes or so that we were there, I could have imagined being back home. Regardless, it was a nice break and a nice little slice of the USA for homesick Yanks and anybody wanting so decent grub.

This isn't the…read morefirst time I've visited a branch of Frankie and Bennys, however unfortunately it may prove to be the last. We were served by a waitress immediately who efficiently took our drinks and meal orders and apologised for 'the wait'. This baffled us somewhat as the service had thus far proved hasty, however we were to learn that she must have been apologising in *advance*. The drinks - some simple diet Cokes - arrived forty minutes later and the food a short while after that, having been asked somewhat abrasively if we "had had our starters yet". The answer was no. Seeing as this is my first Yelp review I'm going to reign myself in and leave it there as I don't want to impart an overwhelming sense of negativity (I am usually pretty tolerant of restaurants, having worked in one myself) however needless to say I dont feel the food was up to scratch. Disappointing experience, and it is also a shame seeing as they are building a Mcdonald's opposite, which is sure to distract a lot of the chain's business. I would've thought service and reputation would have been high on this place's agenda considering the stiff competition on the new Leisure Park.

Main: Paperoni Pizza w/ Onion The sauce was watery, leaving a liquid layer on top of the baked pie, so there was a raw crust underneath the toppings. Essentially, it was flavourless and very flimsy, having no stiffness to the crust. Service: Invisible Staff Friendly as you enter but service staff disappear from sight, or don't look around the room to check if something is needed. They also add an (optional) 10% gratuity to the final bill; which we had that removed. Ambiance: Basic Not exactly Italian in decor and could pass for any type of restaurant. Cannot speak to any other dishes but it was not very impressive. Overall, they appeared to use cost-cutting tactics, lower quality ingredients and all the food lacked proper seasoning. To each their own but it left no positive impression, at least worthy of potentially returning.
