I don't speak french and the staff here doesn't speak english readily. I found zero issue whatsoever with this language barrier in getting excellent service and food. My sister and I strolled into this joint around 8pm on a friday night. It was filled to the brim with customers. Luckily, we were able to snag a two seater table. This is a tiny, cozy little place and though they pack people into the tables, I never felt crammed like a sardine. I don't particularly enjoy eating late, so I ordered the papaya salad and my sister ordered a vegetarian green curry.
I asked for my salad to be as spicy as possible and the server checked in to see if I was sure about that---and I said absolutely.
Each table receives a little bowl of crispy air puffed chips while waiting for their appetizers and meals. They're lightly flavored and a satisfying distraction.
Our meals came out at a fairly average pace. My salad was on point with the spice level and my sister really liked her green curry as well. She typically doesn't like the way that eggplant is prepared in curries, because she often finds them too tough. But with this batch she was really satisfied with the consistency and softness of the eggplant.
The only warning I offer for any vegetarians who are eyeballing the papaya salad. It isn't vegetarian. There are mini dried shrimp sprinkled throughout and as soon as the salad was set in front of me, I could smell the fish sauce. So, if you order this dish, make sure to ask for no fish sauce and no shrimp.
Really outstanding flavors and I spied with my little eyeball, that they have sticky rice with mango on their dessert menu. Be proud of me....I showed restraint. ;)
I'd highly recommend tis place. The ambiance is chill and dimly lit so great for a relaxed get together with friends or simply date night. Truly flavorful dishes and lovely service from the staff.
Definitely a place I wouldn't hesitate to come again. read more
