There couldn't be a more compassionate place for your loved one who is suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease. My wife was so well looked after and I received many reports regarding her activities. The staff went the extra mile to ensure she was well taken care of and I was lucky enough to visit with her almost daily to enjoy our time together. The owner's were helpful and supportive. They truly care! I highly recommend you look at Villa Monticello. I believe you'll be very surprised when comparing to any other place. read more

This facility is amazing! My mom has lived here for a year and a half and we feel so blessed to have found Via Monticello. The caregivers are SO kind, treat all of the residents with respect, and the facility is always clean. The chef prepares amazing meals, they have cute little activities for the residents every day, and even have fun gatherings (like 4th of July BBQ) for families as well. The facility does a great job communicating with family, help with coordinating needs with doctors, and have people who come in to give residents haircuts/and nail trimmings. If you are looking for a wonderful home for a family member we absolutely recommend Via Monticello! read more

Villa Monticello is a wonderful place for your love one needing assisted living and memory care. When you walk in, the atmosphere feels like home and is very clean. The Caregivers go the extra mile making sure the residents are safe and helping each one make the best of daily living. They are very experienced, positive and happy! Just recently, they had a 4th of July party and the Chef did an excellent job preparing tasty food for everyone to include all families! He works hard providing well-balanced food. Thank you Villa for your support and being there for my Dad at this time in his life! read more

Two months ago I put my 93 year old Mother, with severe dementia, into an assisted living/ memory care facility, VILLA MONTICELLO in Escondido. Just want to say that it is an outstanding place and has a resort feeling. The care is amazing. All the caregivers are kind and experienced and appear to really love their jobs. The view is gorgeous, extremely clean rooms, happy atmosphere, lots of fun activities, reasonably priced and the food is almost 5 star!!! If you know someone who is in need of care, you must check out this place! Lots more pictures on their website. I rescued my mother from a SNF where she was deteriorating and placed her here at Villa Monticello almost 2 years ago. The change has been dramatic. Within just a couple weeks they had her up and about. They put here on a routine which made her active and engaging. The staff are wonderful and caring. The facility is pleasant and clean. I couldn't be happier. read more

My mom spent her last year in the care of Villa Monticello. She was in great care. The staff was kind and focused on her. They genuinely cared for her and I always felt my mom was well looked after at a time when she really needed the help. She passed away there in peace. I was there holding her hand at the time. The grounds are pleasant and its a nice place to visit and take short walks. I would wheel my mom around near the vineyard and find shady areas where we could sit and talk. Dementia is hard for the individual and everyone close to them. Villa Monticello did a good job of making my mom comfortable towards the end of her life. I really appreciate all they did for my mom and our family. read more

My mother has Lewy Body Dementia and has been a resident at Villa Monticello since October 2023. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of care she receives and the excellent communication I receive from the caregivers. My mother was not an easy placement because of her type of dementia but the wonderful owners of this facility really know how to manage resident care, and they go the extra mile to try to work with the residents and their loved ones. If you are looking for a facility to care for your loved one(s), Villa Monticello should be at the top of your list. read more

My Mother has been at Villa Monticello for almost two years . She is an Alzheimer's patient and had a history of getting out of her bed or chair and falling several times at the two assisted living facilities she stayed at prior to finding a home at Villa Monticello. When I talked to the owner, Orlando, prior to her moving in, he told me they used electronic alarms that attached to the residents clothing and the bed or chair they were in. When they move to stand or walk the alarm sounds and the caring staff are immediately on their way to assist. The alarms work well and are very effective. I couldn't be happier with the care and compassion my Mother receives at Villa Monticello. I highly recommend Villa Monticello to anyone looking for exceptional care for a loved one. read more

2018 we found The "Villa". As we,my sister and my brother and I. What a blessing. This has been a wonderful experience for my Dad (Joe Cervone ), with severe dementia. He is now 96 years old. The care he is receiving could not be better. The staff and owners do everything possible to make my father comfortable and happy. We had looked all over the Escondido area ,in tears. Then I just happened to hear about Villa Monticello. What a blessing. Thank you to all the staff, for your loving kindness. Jeanette Tashjian read more

My mother lived at Villa Monticello the last year of her life. She was well cared for. She enjoyed the food. She felt loved and safe. This is a smaller sized, more family style, intimate facility. The staff was skillful in monitoring her movements, since mom was a fall risk, but did it in such a gentle way that mom never seemed to feel constrained. During the covid lockdown we couldn't visit for some months but the staff worked hard so the residents didn't feel isolated or abandoned. They enabled us to visit using video calls. Once allowed, we could visit on the lovely covered porch with appropriate separation. Mom was kept clean and neat and even her fingernails polished - which made her happy. I recommend Villa Monticello for those who are looking for a 24 hour care facility for their loved ones who will thrive in a family style setting. read more

I'm not much of a review person as a matter of fact I think this is my first ever Yelp review! I wanted to take this time though to post this review of Villa Monticello. We moved my dad here January 1st 2019 not long after my mom passed and dad's memory became worse and worse and it became very difficult to manage him at my sister's home. We struggled mightily to find a home for him where we felt he would be comfortable and well cared for AND a place we like too! Well he's been living at Monticello for 16 months now and we are so pleased. They take such good care of him AND us! He always tells us how comfortable and cared for he is. With the outbreak of Covid-19 we starting hearing of major outbreaks in nursing homes throughout the country and we naturally became concerned but the staff at The Villa were extremely proactive. They restricted visitation very early on (the beginning of March). At first we weren't sure this was a good move for dad or us but looking at stories everyday in the news, we are so very grateful that The Villa took this pandemic seriously as all the residents and staff have remained healthy and unaffected by the virus and keep dad safe and happy. They allow us to call as often as we can and never seem put out getting him on the phone with us and even record video greetings from him and send them to us! My entire family are so very grateful to the owners and all the staff at Villa Monticello for their commitment and dedication before, during and after this wretched pandemic. We don't know what we would do without you! read more

My father lived at villa Monticello at the end of his life. He was taken care of by an excellent staff who helped him with everything. The location is beautiful and they have activities for the residents. I have to say that the staff here did the best they could for my father and they were very sweet and helpful to our family as well. I would recommend villa Monticello for anyone who wants their loved ones cared for. Thank you villa Monticello. read more

My mother is a resident at Monticello. I have found the staff to be very caring and attentive to the resident's needs, in every way. I realize taking care of this population is a challenge, at best, and I know that the staff does their best. They do have on-going activities for the residents with Melissa, the activities director. They also provide high quality meals. The chef, Margaret, does an amazing job preparing everything from scratch, and she has a genuine concern for each resident's meal preferences. Monticello is a good choice for any family looking for caring, personalized care for their loved ones. read more

My Father-in-law currently lives at Villa Monticello. He is 96 years old and has dementia. It was a difficult decision to move him from home to a care facility but he wasn't safe anymore at his home. We interviewed and toured numerous Memory Care facilities and decided that Villa Monticello would be the best choice due to its small size and a more home like atmosphere. It was a difficult transition for my Father-in-law. He was confused and combative, however, the staff at Villa Monticello worked with us and my Father-in-law to help him become comfortable and safe in his new environment. All this was happening during the pandemic which complicated the transition. The staff has been very caring and my Father-in-law now seems very happy in his new environment and we are relieved that he is safer and can be monitored 24 hours a day. The facility also got my Father-in-law a doctor that sees him at Villa Monticello and they were able to get him vaccinated against Covid. The best thing is that my Father-in-law loves the food and has actually gained a little weight since moving there (he needed to). For any family that has to find a care facility for their family member, I would definitely take a look at Villa Monticello. read more

This is my second review but I wanted to give some more information. My mother lived at Villa Monticello for about 3 1/2 years and passed away this August. She went on hospice in mid June. The facility and all the staff worked seamlessly with the hospice people continuing to provide excellent and kind care. My sisters and I feel very fortunate to have found Villa Monticello. Their kindness to my sisters and I and of course my mother was a reminder of the goodness you can find in the world. read more

HORRIBLE. Don't even consider this place. Run by criminals with the only goal to steal your money. Found this location by driving by and it seemed very nice. However, once the representative ( the owner Orlando) evaluated my mother-in-law's husband at the home he began the list of recommendations why he should not be at the facility. He was a candidate for the facility and it was ultimately the family's decision to transfers him from home to the facility. My wife called to confirm the transfer and was informed, once again by Orlando, that the faculty needed to pay a "finders fee" to a company we did not use to find the facility. He then informed my wife he required a first and last month NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $10,000. This was obviously his method to discourage placement. Stay far away from this place. There are facilities that actually care about your loved one. This is not one of them. read more

Villa Monticello was a place I was skeptical placing our dad because I didn't feel he was ready. I still saw him as capable of semi-independant living with assistance from caregivers and my brother, who lived with him. As it turned out, Villa Monticello was a good choice. It was clean, always smelled good, and the owners and caregivers were caring and responsive to the needs of the residents. Things were not perfect, nothing ever is, and as a previous review mentioned, clothing mix-ups were sometimes an issue. However, a simple notification of the problem resolved it. My dad passed at Villa Monticello and at the end the staff made sure he was comfortable and at peace. Thank you to Orlando and Ruby and especially the staff at Villa Monticello! read more

I moved my mother to Villa Montecillo in February 2015. Previously, my Mom had been in a nice assisted living facility, but her needs changed and we needed continuous memory care 24-hours a day. I was referred to Villa Montecillo by a very close friend whose mother had been a resident at Villa Montecillo. It was highly recommended. We were on a tight schedule as Mom had recently suffered an injury and needed to move quickly. Ruby and Orlando Dye came to the rescue and met our time lines and needs with compassion and care. They have provided the care that mom needed and continue to evaluate her needs and suggest changes when needed. Yesterday when I visited my mom, she knew me. That hadn't happened in a while. Villa Montecillo staff are caring and loving and provide the kind of care we needed for my Mom. Their facility is scrupulously clean in a beautiful setting and all mom's needs are met from daily care, laundry, incontinence care, medication administration and management, nutritious food and fun. My family and I are very grateful for their tender care of my mom. Now I can be my Mom's daughter again, instead of her caregiver and I have the peace of mind knowing that she is in a safe and happy place. read more
