The front door is locked and the 2 employees are in the back at the shampoo bowls...1 employee washing the hair of the other employee. I knock on the door, the shampooer looks up at me, sees me, and continues to wash hair. She starts on round 2 of shampooing. I knock again, louder. Barely looking up and ignores me. I stood there another 2-3 minutes, asked my husband what else to do and eventually left. My entire family has been using this place for years. I have always been a pleasant customer, always tip at least 25% each trip. Can't speak for the guys in my family, but they lost me as a customer! So sad. :(

Up until just over two years ago, I had been faithful to my barber of 20 years in Virginia, but one day I needed a haircut and I was in New Holland, PA for a few days and had no choice other than to be unfaithful to my long-time barber in Virginia. At the time, Ray was working at a different shop and he sat me in his chair as a walk-in. Ray spent about an hour on my head making sure my cut was perfect -- an hour! I was used to my regular barber spending about ten to fifteen minutes on me and wondered how a barber could possibly make any money while spending so much time on just one customer. I have worked out that Ray seems to care more about his customers and the quality of his work than he does about the amount of money he makes. Not only does Ray care about his customers; he cares about his community and the less fortunate children and elderly in the community. Ray gives free cuts to these people during special events and even provides children with school supplies before school starts every year. I congratulate Ray and his partner on opening their own new shop in the Heart of New Holland, and I am sure they will do well there. I really think he should charge more for what he does, but I know competition is tough in the area, so this may not be possible, but if you can afford to give a better than normal tip, I know it won't go unappreciated and I know Ray will put it to good use.

She did a good job but had me slightly concerned as she was talking in another language to her co-worker who came over and started clipping my nails on the opposite hand. And then started trying to pry the acrylic off with a card. It hurt. Two people working each on one hand had me quite nervous. I just wanted clear polish. She gave me a manicure and I didn't want my nails cut shorter. The perk was when I went to pay the fella at the counter broke down the price which I liked since the place I had been going to was charging a different price every time I went which is why I wanted to try a new place. I will probably go back. The fella gave me a membership card, the more visits the more discounts.

Let's be honest, no one my age should be sporting hair that long unless they're starring in a rock band reunion tour. With skill and grace, Lisa brought me back to a respectable member of society. I recently went to their website to schedule a haircut and was surprised that the cost of a men's cut had been increased by 33% ($15 to $20). We all know about inflation so an increase of a few dollars would have been reasonable. When I wrote to the owner and indicated that such an increase seemed unreasonable, a nasty response was received. Needless to say I won't be returning.
