Last time I was in Rincon I could not get a sunset dinner reservation at Villa Cofresi. So this year I planned in advance and called several weeks before the trip. We reserved a table at the balcony right at sunset at 6pm. We arrived and promptly got thru the security and were taken to our table and it was the most gorgeous view ever. We ordered the signature drink, The Pirata, and it was delish, very strong , and came in a coconut. We then wanted to order dinner. But no server or employee of any kind came to our table for over an hour after we got our drinks. We waited and waited and when we decided to give up and go elsewhere then finally a server came. So we decided to order since it was about 7:15 and we figured it would take too long to go somewhere else and order. My bf ordered the lobster mofongo in some kind of soup and I got red snapper in a plantain crust. Then again we waited and waited. I was so hungry I started trying to pick the coconut pieces out of my Pirata drink. Finally at 8:11 our food was served, And we were starved. I was prepared to hate the food haha but it was actually so delicious. So I guess come here if you are not starved and have tons of time. And you will get a delicious meal w the most beautiful sunset view. read more

Came here to watch the sunset and it didn't disappoint. We got a great table right on the edge with stunning views. We weren't hungry so we ordered the chicharrones de pollo and of course their very popular Pirata drink. The chicken was amazing, wished we had been hungry and got to taste more of their menu. Now lets talk about the star of the place The Pirata. This very strong sort of piña colada drink served in a coconut. They also give you a cup with extra drink. The drink is strong but so well made it tastes delicious. A must have if you visit. Right before the sun went down the bartender did a countdown which felt very festive and like New Year's Eve. If you are in Rincon this is a must visit especially to watch the sunset. read more

No need to bring a beach chair, beach towels or beach bag-all were provided! There was a drying rack for our wet bathing suits and towels and a laundry service that returned our cleaned items before the end of the same day. The staff were friendly and helpful. Fantastic vibe, absolutely spotless and the staff from the front desk, porter, cleaning staff, restaurant and bar are super nice. Congratulations to management for hiring and creating such a wonderful team of employees. Our room was spacious and clean with an ocean view. We were lulled to sleep every night with sound of ocean waves. Hotel is right on the beach and includes the most beautiful sunset every evening. The hotel offers beach chairs and umbrella. We enjoyed the hotel restaurant and bar. Again, such a relaxed and wonderful vibe. The food was exceptionally good and well priced. There was live entertainment on Friday and Saturday. We did have a car, but it was a nice walk to the supermarket or perhaps a 20 minute walk into town. Thank you Villa Cofresi for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. read more

Excellent service, beautiful ocean views, delicious strong drinks, wonderful food. I had lunch here with my parents, husband, and our one year old. My husband and dad got the specialty pirate drinks in a coconut which also came with 2 extra "refills" on the side - a great value. My mother and I got the margaritas. I ate the chicken quesadilla and tostones. This is one of the only restaurants on my entire trip to Puerto Rico that came with free iced water in a nice glass and plenty of refills. I love this hotel. I intended to stay for six days, but a single overnight convinced me to book another four days. That morning, I walked up to Zeida at the desk and said, "The sky is too pink, the sand too soft, the ocean too relaxing, the view too spectacular." What I didn't know then but do now is that the employees are exemplary- every single one. By the way, the nightly cost here provides a nice hotel in Boston without the sea of people catering to your every need. Meals here are cheaper than local restaurants. A long list of now friendly faces - I've forgotten too many names - including Braulio, Eddie, Wendy, Sonia, Vani, Angela, Saltares, and Kevin - all a tribute to the person in charge of hiring. Had the pleasure of having dinner at the bar one evening during our stay at the subpar resort next door. The restaurant had great food and drinks. Service, while slow, was extremely friendly and efficient. Our waitress (who was also bartending at the very busy bar) was personable, helpful and had great food recommendations. As we left later that evening, we lamented to the nearby hotel reception staff on how we wished we'd stayed at Villa Confresi instead of the resort next door. On our next vacation to Rincón, we will be staying here instead. read more

My mom and I spent a blissful holiday at Hotel Villa Cofresi last month. It was our first time there, but will definitely not be our last...we cannot wait to return. This spot on the west coast of Puerto Rico is pure paradise, everything about this hotel is perfection. You cannot beat this location...right on the beach with the ocean only steps away, and spectacular sunsets every day! I love that the entire lobby, bar and restaurant is open-air, enabling the sweet sea breeze to waft through the whole area. Our beautifully appointed room was on the 3rd floor with a partial view of the ocean had all necessary amenities, and the king size bed was extremely comfy. We loved the consistent and soothing sound of the ocean waves, which was like a lullaby at night. The stairs to the lobby were nearby, but we were grateful for the elevator, which we preferred to use. The elevator even has a view of the ocean, which was an added bonus. The pool was easily accessible and a joy to spend time in, we made so many new friends by the pool. Make sure you try the hotel's special Pirate Drink, so delicious...and it packs quite a punch! The bartenders there also make the best frozen Pina Coladas I've ever had. We loved the hotel restaurant...all the servers are warm, friendly, polite, professional and eager to please the guests...they truly appear to be happy working there, which is a testament to the owners and how well they must treat their employees. We came here to have an early dinner and I must say that I am a bit disappointed. This simple but yet tasty salad was not washed or fresh. The foliage had a red tint to the leaves which indicates some fungal growth. Definitely not coming back for a visit. My family and I have been travelling to this hotel for the last 3 years. However, we go way back, dating back to the 1970s when we vacationed as a family from Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The service is outstanding from the housekeeping crew to the restaurant staff. Our high praises to Yadira, Dayana, and Papo from the housekeeping team. Also praises to Don Marcelo and Kevin at the restaurant. In general, the Hotel is tops on our annual trip back to our homeland, Puerto Rico. My father, Mario, celebrates his birthday at this place every year. He is 91 years old and loves this place. We are committed to celebrating his remaining birthdays here! read more

The Pros: -staff - security - parking -restaurant/bar -balcony -sunset views The Cons: -outdated decor -musty/old furniture -small pool We stayed at Villa Cofresí for a week and we are counting the days until we can go back! We loved the restaurant on site. Everything we ate was delicious. I saw some reviews critiquing the food and I was confused. Maybe they hired a new chef? Or another possibility is that folks went to Puerto Rico and ordered Italian food instead of the local cuisine. It's like going to Italy and ordering MexicanTacos and not liking them. If you got to Villa Cofresí, order Puerto Rican food, it is delicious! The seafood was fresh, the steaks were tender, the habichuelas were the most flavorful, and the mofongo should win awards. The drinks were also fantastic. The biggest issue for us was our dated room. My husband and I joked that we were given the "orbitz" special since we booked at a discounted rate using orbitz. Although the room was large, the furniture was so outdated. It was wicker furniture and the moment you opened the door you were hit with the stench of old musty furniture. It was terrible. The tv in the room was also of an older model. We did notice that there were other rooms that seemed to be more modern including mounted flat screen tvs, modern furniture and decor. read more

Normally, when we travel, we don't care much where we stay because the hotel is just a place to lay our heads between exploring. Villa Cofresi is one of the first places we have stayed where the hotel itself transformed the entire experience. We stayed two nights here while road tripping up Puerto Rico's west coast (Cabo Rojo-Playa Buye-downtown Rincon for the art walk-Steps Beach-and Domes Beach), but our time at the hotel was our favorite part. The biggest selling point: they might have the single greatest hotel bar we have ever seen. It's all open air with seating literally feet from the water, and unobstructed views of miles and miles of open ocean. You have a direct view of the sun setting behind the water, and when those famous Rincon sunsets lit up the sky, we were in heaven. The bar serves a signature drink, the Coco PIrata, which is a mix of rums, coconut milk, and coconut water topped with a healthy dash of cinnamon. The whole thing is served inside a coconut. It tastes so delicious we had to share multiple orders each night during our visit. The bar area is adjacent to the pool, plus there is a second story deck if you want a more private space to enjoy your drinks. Even if you aren't getting drinks, though, you are free to roam the common areas and just enjoy the view. It is so close to the water the waves actually come right up to the side of the hotel. On top of that, you get access to a private area of the beach, free from crowds, and the beach in this area is very swimmable. The more famous public beaches nearby are known more for being surfing beaches, and they are virtually impossible to swim in due to the intense waves and rocks. The beach by Cofresi, though, has such soft sand and gentle waves, it's perfect for a relaxing swim. It was a very refreshing way to start the day. The staff is very kind, too, and the rooms are pretty affordable for a beachfront hotel. If you want to really live it up, they offer King rooms with a private balcony overlooking the ocean. During our stay, those rooms were only $20 more than regular rooms, so we thought it was worth the extra splurge, and it was amazing. We spent some day each day enjoying some coffee with a book overlooking the ocean, and one night, we brought our coco piratas up there to enjoy the sunset. At night, overlooking the ocean, you can see tons of stars - we even saw a shooting star one night. Hard to top that. I can't recommend this place more highly. If you're visiting Puerto Rico, the drive to Rincon for a few nights here is totally worth it. read more

Loved this place! Friendly staff, clean, well-appointed rooms, and WOWIE the oceanfront bar/restaurant is mesmerizing. The waves literally lap at the deck beneath your feet. Our room was toward the rear and overlooked the parking lot, which initially bummed me out. But there are such lovely common areas by the pool, by the beach, overlooking the sea, you can easily pop out of your room and be part of the beauty. I always went here as a kid and never had an issue getting into this place. Your Covid policies (didn't seem like it was Covid policy related) are going to end up affecting your workers the most. My significant other and I tried to get into the bar yesterday, Friday, April 29th at around 7pm. We were told to come back an hour later because they didn't have any space or we could try and get into the restaurant section without having to wait. We opted to come back a day later, today, Saturday, April 30th at 3:30p. We came in and same thing, we can't get into the bar. We really liked the place so we decided to go into the restaurant since we can still order the same things, simply without the ocean view and warmth. When we got in we noticed there weren't that many people at the bar and inquired about getting into an open seat. They told us no and had us sit at the restaurant. We tried, no problem. Shortly after, a couple behind us, asked the same and were allowed to sit at the bar. I inquired with the waiter about what I had noticed and he was "beating around the bush" and honestly, seemed like they didn't care about the discrepancies we noticed. Very disappointed.
