I recently visited the High Desert Foot and Ankle Clinic and wanted to share what my experience was…read morelike. Parking at the clinic was a little tricky. I realized there were two parking lots available: the larger lot in the back of the building and a smaller one closer to the entrance. If possible, try to park in the smaller lot near the entrance for easier access. Please note that the larger lot had a gate that said it closed at 7 PM. The sign said, if you find yourself locked in after hours, you will need to call the listed number, incurring a $100 fee to exit. This is good to know, especially if your appointment is later in the day. Additionally, a few other businesses within the medical center allow their customers to use available parking spots. The entrance appeared to be accessible for walkers and wheelchairs, but I'm not sure about the width of the door. Upon entering, I could hear the gurgle of the aquarium. The receptionist was behind a plexiglass barrier and provided a tablet for the check-in process. It involved answering questions on the tablet and completing a few paper forms outlining administrative details, including potential late and cancellation fees. I arrived at 3:00 PM for a 3:15 PM appointment and wasn't seen until 3:50 PM. This office uses Klara, a system for communicating with the office before the appointment, and then also uses a patient portal, once the patient has an established doctor visit. Communication using the Klara system was interesting. I was unable to upload the DICOM files containing the images of my previous X-rays from a different doctor's office, and asked the representative if I should bring anything else. She said, "that would be all thank you!" To me, that sounded like the end of the conversation, that everything was fine. When I arrived, I was asked if I had the X-rays. Regarding the clinical environment, the facility appeared to be an older building with some visible maintenance needs. I was able to get new X-rays done in-office the same day. When we went to the X-ray room, I observed debris on the X-ray plate and requested a cleaning before use, which the assistant performed. Ultimately, the high-speed nature of this clinic and the level of facility upkeep were not a match for my personal preferences. While the doctor was clinically knowledgeable and provided me with a stretching handout and a review of my in-office X-rays, the communication style of some of the support staff was quite brusque and felt hurried. It raised my blood pressure and really annoyed me. It made my visit feel overall unpleasant. It's possible that some of the staff were having a bad day. Everyone has those. The "talked at" communication style wasn't the right fit for me.

Three and one-half stars. I had been going to this office since 2013 when the powers that be…read morechanged their tune about primary care doctors prescribing opiods. I saw both doctor, Dr. Karamian and Dr. Ilbeigi. I did not care fot Karamian as her injections caused me pain and I also found her to be too clinical. And a bit rude. I loved Ilbeigi as he was kind, did pretty painless injections and fixed a problem that the staff messed up. once I told him That they inadvertently changed the dosage of my meds. Sadly Dr. Ilbeigi retired abruptly giving us all 2 weeks notice. Needless to say this was a problem. My body decided to have a sciatica flare up during this transition that hit the 10 level for a couple of weeks. I managed to use a muscle relaxer to help with the pain and allow me to sleep a few hours Intermittently throughout the day. Pain meds do very little for nerve pain. Finding a new pain management Dr that will give me the medication I was taking so far has been difficult . I had to wait a month before I could even make it to lay in the back seat of my girlfriend's car to get to these appointments. I thought I was okay with the first doctor but they shorted my prescription and never bothered to explain why nor how to go off these meds. when I called they told me to wait the month to speak to someone. I tried their main office as this clinic has various offices throughout Southern California, guess it's a money maker, however I got nowhere with her either. The next Dr berated Dr Ilbeigi and myself for even being on these meds. He was rude condescending and kept me waiting for 2 hours prior to seeing me. When I returned to Dr number one who is not a Dr but a rotating staff of nurse practitioners that one sees monthly she was under the assumption that I was told about the decrease. I wasn't. I was told she would keep my meds as is but that my next appointment the doctor might change them. No one mentioned nurse practitioners. Their main concern and to be honest both drs concern was following the regulations and abiding by the criteria set by the FDA or the powers that be with little concern for the patient. They wanted to cover their ass more than aid the pain patient. It has become pretty much a one size fits all. Since I had been in pain for years I tried various treatment. The one that changed my life, the pain meds. I went from being home bound to getting certified to teach water fitness which I did for 12 years until my next decline and sadly had to qui Teaching and working out. At that time I went all out trying injections, acupuncture, chiropractic (legs went numb) nerve blocks, mindful meditation, yoga and Pilates. The final thing that ultimately worked was massage which I paid out of pocket for over a year until my masseuse moved away. So if you want try Karamian go for it. Oh, she would not see anyone of us who had been a prior patient which I believe demonstrates her attitude and "first do no harm" way of practicing Medicine. I had hoped to find a group of prior patient so we could exchange notes on who best to see. I'm going to be 80 in April and I have been in pain since 1987 going on pain meds in 2003 when the policy was, "there is no cap on how much you can take of these drugs to this". I simply don't have the energy I had 13 years ago when I had to quit teaching and was in such good shape to Dr shop. Pain erodes your body and more so your spirit. Being told to detox myself without guidance is malpractice in my books but I know it's common practice in theirs. I have always been very careful with how I take these meds. After all they changed my life. I respected them unlike many of the providers who prescribe them. Good luck to those of you looking for pain management. I hope you find one you like

Especially; a stuff who sits in front desk and face of the doctor's office ; she has really bad attitude like she doesn't want to be there. If it wasn't for the doctor, we would never come to this office. Last time she gave us such a hard time about prescription. Our pharmacy didn't receive the prescription and she said it takes 72 hours . Never heard that as it should be electronically. When we checked in, she said they are running 1 hour behind. I asked " Even with appointment?" She said yes. Then few minutes later she asked about my appointment time. She realized that we were 3 minutes late to the grace period; she canceled the appointment front of us and made us wait 2.5 hours to be seen out of despite. My confusion, if they are running 1 + behind; us being 3 minutes late pass grace period; why would she cancel the appointment front of us and put us 2.5 hrs behind!!! This is absurd. We never received such a bad service from an office staff like Leilani. Unfortunately we like the doctor and we are stuck with this office. I hope the office takes an action against her. ESPECIALLY SHE WAS RUDE THE WHOLE TIME WITH US.
