While I was in St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Vikram Parmar tells me he could fix my ataxic walking with…read morequick and easy spinal surgery, but would like to do some tests first, so come to his new Premiere Orthopaedic & Trauma Specialists office in Victorville after hospital discharge. So, take him at his word and upon discharge, called and asked to schedule appointment per this recommendation & a px for testing issued by chief attending physician at hospital. No can do without referral authorization I was told by receptionist. OK, so took a week to receive referral authorization. Called again and asked if I could send authorization over email as I did not have a fax. Nope, have to fax. So, drive 40 miles, ask to schedule appt. and provide referral authorization in person. Haul my trusty walker out of the trunk and hobble into Victorville office, tripping on a loose, poorly situated rug in the office entryway. A woman sitting next to doorway exclaimed "that's the second time someone has tripped on that rug since I arrived. Over 30 patients were in the office, with canes, walkers and wheelchairs - an accident waiting to happen. Ask receptionist to schedule appt. and provide a hard copy of my referral authorization. She says Dr. Parmar is slammed and the earliest he can see anybody is October 15 - a month and a half away. I ask to see supervisor and that person advises receptionist to change appt. to September 10th - a little less than two weeks away, but I would have to travel a significant distance to see doctor in San Bernardino. I see Dr. Parmar walking behind reception hallway and ask to see him. They said no, I repeated my request. they said NO. So, I accepted their assigned appt. date and location, extremely reluctantly and exited this safety hazard of an office. I now intend to see any doctor to address my ataxic walking other than one associated with this incredibly poor-quality service office.

We show up for the follow, and they tell us they can't see him because all follow ups must be within 14 days of release. Like we filled out the appointment card and picked the date. He had tests run that he was supposed to get the results for, and they refused to see him. It was the most ridiculous experience. They told me to go to Medical Records and get the results myself, like my 26 years in technical support qualifies me to read medical results. Anyway, if you can avoid, do it. When he was released it took THREE DAYS to get his prescription written up correctly by the doctor. I am happy they saved his life, I am not happy with all the peripheral staff. Nurses good, surgeon great, regular doctors and staff MEH. Worse than MEH.
