It was definitely in the top two shops of the six I visited. When I was there, the owner's husband was filling in for the day for his wife. He was super kind and friendly. Talking to other yarn shop owners in the area, they all had nothing bad to say about Tonidale's owner and had said they wished I had met her since she is just as kind as her husband. The shop has a good mix of inexpensive and expensive yarn. That's rare to see in yarn shops. I think it gives the shop a wider range of customers, those who want the expensive, fancy yarn and those who are looking for something more simple. They have a very good mix of fibers to choose from. I remember seeing acrylic and acrylic blends, wool and wool blends, and angora rabbit (which was surprising), among others. I thought their prices were very fair for the yarn being offered. This will definitely be a shop I return to the next time I'm in Pittsburgh.

I provided the elderly person my credit card and said that if they needed to they could just pay the additional fee. But we did not get that far because the elderly person said to the desk people - "she said it's cleaned" and the response to their old and frail person was, "you lied." So they left shaking and I went in. I was immediatley told that we are barred and can never return. From my career I consistently hear negative comments about the rudeness of the staff. Seeing an elderly person shake at being called a liar was not okay. I am sharing so that the staff either take ownership of their anger or to warn others.

I can tell that the manager walks around on a high horse and i'm not sure why. The store was dirty, the staff was undertrained, and the manager was rude. I hope other people have better experiences than we did, but yes, a 1 star from us, and some advice to any engaged couple seeing this - DON'T BOOK HERE. The manager will make your feelings and ideas for YOUR wedding feel invalid and small. It's your wedding, not hers and not her employees.
