The girl behind the bar was very friendly. When we walked in, most people seem to know one another. The club itself is tucked in a residential neighborhood and has been around for like 40 years. There was an event going on for about 100 people when we where there, in tents on the backside of the facility, so nobody was really in the actual club other than normal members. As such, it seems like a great private place to host an event, in which membership would not be required I suppose. They have a ample side inside space and as I witnessed, outside space too for all group needs. You would have to call or ask about this, but seems like a good spot to host an event. They appear to have done some improvements to the outside of the structure and added an outdoor patio space with fireplace. The grounds were well maintained with flowers and fresh mulch, so they upkeep it. The grounds themselves are entirely sheltered by mature trees, so you don't really see the residential area so much when you are on the property.

Note: Review is for the park only, not the campground…read more This east side park is lush and green with several shelters, playgrounds, and Burns Lake. The lake has numerous fishing docks. An Amphitheater with stone seating faces the lake and has a small "stage" area at the base. The rest of the park has a paved path on the east side and other trails that wander around the lake. One of the key points of interest along the path is the Kenneth E Smith Memorial Labyrinth which is a recreation of the one "in the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France in 1220." There are 34 changes of direction before you reach the center. If you stay on path, it totals 0.58 miles if completed. Of course, since it is simply inlaid without barriers, you can walk off anytime you choose. Most of the areas I walked were clean, but some natural debris, like fallen limbs, was around. A large tree had fallen into Burns Lake near one of the fishing docks. Shelters seemed clean and came with numerous picnic tables and some grills. This place was doing stadium seating, since before stadium seating was cool. Not perfectly comfortable seats or cup holders, but good views and a truly beautiful theater as a whole. As I have travelled around Indiana, I have noticed many of the county seats feature Veterans…read morememorials and some even offer museums filled with memorabilia from local veterans who have donated their items for visitors to share. Much of this collection is made up of uniforms, many in pristine condition. However, compared to some of the other museums I have visited, this one doesn't feature as much diversity and story telling in the displays. A visit to Vincennes was far more interesting for a visitor like me. Hopefully locals will be willing to gather and donate to enhance the visit. the museum is free but gladly accepts donations at the front desk where the staff/volunteers greet visitors. Review #3974

Activities are great for the weekend. They have built a really nice inflatable obstacle course that the kids love. Beach is soft and clean. Snacks and food on site. Prices from camping to activities to food are definitely priced to allow you to enjoy everything over the weekend. Food trucks have always been relative and great prices. Super accommodating to the campers. The entire campground is very welcoming, even the long term people go out of their way to be friendly. I have not had one complaint at any stay. We even had a bad storm this weekend that destroyed our canopies and the staff helped clean all that up. Definitely worth returning to year after year. Thank you guys for another great weekend!

Be warned--an outdoor July wedding at 4:30 in the afternoon is blazing hot. We opted for standing in the shade on a raised deck with a great view of the entire ceremony. This couple provided guests with fans that had the wedding program on one side and their picture on the other. Amidst a pandemic, I'm questioning the choice of fans. Indoors was air conditioned with seating and a bar on the main floor and upstairs. The second floor is a loft with a single row of tables and chairs looking down on main floor. Bartenders were friendly, some of the staff wore masks, some of the time. The air wasn't cooling the building and after a heavy thunderstorm, outside was cooler, so the doors were opened and a huge fan used to get some cross ventilation going. It was actually nicer outside among the tall trees. There's covered outdoor seating and a paved area where many guests hung out. With a DJ playing it was easier to visit and talk outdoors, perhaps safer too. When we returned to our vehicle at the end of the night, we discovered most people parked by us were stuck in mud and the owner was pulling us out with his truck. A little muddy, but no damage done to my SUV and an exciting finish to a fabulous event. AC not working well, overflow parking in what became a muddy mess were the only negatives. I imagine the deluge was atypical, but AC needs attention, not out of their control.

My kids are 2 and 3, and we easily spent about 2.5-3 hours exploring. There was SO much to do that we actually ended up spending most of our Terre Haute day here instead of making it to the other places I had planned. What I loved most was that the exhibits weren't just fun -- they encouraged kids to learn through play. There were opportunities to pretend to be construction workers, veterinarians and farmers, dig for dinosaur bones, explore engineering and physics, learn about seasons, and so much more. My kids especially loved the construction area, sand table, water play, pretend-play areas, Amazing Airways and the giant bubble you can actually stand inside! They also have a two-story treehouse, toddler area, Fit Gym, Fresh & Fit Market/Kitchen, and their new Wonders of the Wabash water exhibit. There are three floors, so there was plenty to explore. I also really appreciated that there were activities for different ages, although some features -- like the ropes course -- have height requirements. My kids weren't tall enough for that yet. Admission is very reasonable at $9 for ages 2+, with children under 2 free. They're also part of the Access Pass Program and offer Toddler Tuesdays. If you're visiting Terre Haute with kids, I would definitely put this on your list! We could have easily spent even longer here.

(Terre Haute is the only place where I've seen a trend toward shredded lettuce salads- so someone important must like them and order them enough that a few restaurants serve their salads this way- I'm obviously not a fan.) I get the feeling that this is a place that locals appreciate more than visitors and I hope that someone else gives it a better review to help bring up its rating. For what it's worth, they have a diner atmosphere on one side of the restaurant with booths and a bar, and a more formal dining room on the other side that would be ideal for special events or business lunches downtown. They seem to do most of their business during the breakfast and lunch hours as they are only open for dinner a few nights a week, and they take a lot of pride in their homemade desserts.

It is difficult to screw up a Ruben, save for the starving pickles on the plate, but still nothing remarkable. My side order ended up being a handful of broken potato chips, Ruffles I believe. We ordered a side of pretzels for the table, they happened to be about two snack bags worth of Rold Gold. I normally don't give poor reviews, but this place earned it. Our server was pleasant and on her game but the food was severely lacking. The menu indicated Saratoga being in business for over 42 years. I have to assume they were simply off their game today or they should not expect to ever make it to 50.
