But when our taxes become more complex--many more deductions and having to pay quarterly state and federal taxes as independent contractors, they were not up for the job--didn't return phone calls, and took weeks to file out taxes which needed to be redone. We ended up having to pay a more specialized tax preparer to straighten out what became an expensive mess. If you need a bookkeeping/simple tax preparation business, this is an excellent choice for you. But if your taxes are more difficult, pay the extra money for an accounting firm. The one we chose even had financial advisors who helped us choose the best way for us to keep inflation for eating up our savings, with no addition cost for the service.

Great place to do your taxes!…read more Amy Parker is very knowledgeable, professional and organized. I have been using her for several years and couldn't be happier. My taxes are pretty cut and dry, not too complicated, but I still like someone to organize it all for me. It is very easy to get an appt with her come tax season. I have been to HR Block before, but I felt they could care less if I got the best refund. Mrs. Parker asks you a lot of questions to make sure she covers every possible tax break. She also gives you pointers on how to save in the future. An example I learned from her: save your receipts from improvements you made on you house to show when you sell your house. It's great to support an honest, small business owner in Salinas.

In January 2025, my former tax preparer (of over 15-years) had made the decision to "close-up shop"…read moreand begin a new business venture. While I was happy for him (as I believe in doing what one loves and the rest will fall into place), I was also disappointed because this meant finding someone new to handle my taxes. Yet, as a woman of faith I trusted that God would help me find a new tax preparer. . . After a two-week search, I am very thankful to have chosen Ms. Rebecca Barrett. I'm old school when it comes to my taxes so I appreciate tax preparers who are willing to meet face-to-face (especially the first time) to review my documentation (i.e. my prepared spreadsheets). I don't like the idea of sending my documentation to a business via email (even with a secured site) or dropping them off to an office. When it comes to business, money, and/or financial planning, I want to sit across from a seasoned professional and have a conversation. Ms. Barrett was on-time, courteous, knowledgable, friendly, and patient. Those are just some of the superlatives that I would attribute to her upon our first meeting. Now that my taxes are done for 2024, I can celebrate and enjoy the rest of my Spring Break!! Thank you, Ms. Barrett, you are a blessing! Clap, clap!!! :).
