Love their meat counter, produce is well stocked and well priced. Their cheese counter has a good range and their small pieces basket is a great start for a cheese plate. But I do like to make specialty orders here, such as Thanksgiving dinner, or deli grab-and-go for a potluck, etc. This location is right on Hawthorne. Lastly, I support the union employees that work here and I hope New Seasons decides to put their wealth into their front-line laborers instead of their executives and CEOs (like so many companies these days).

I lived walking distance from People's Co-op circa 2004 where I lived right across from the now defunct all vegan coffeeshop aka Red and Black. In 2004-2005 I was a working member cleaning the bulk bins as my seva aka service. This is where I first started teaching yoga at the community room upstairs at People's Co-op. Dusty started the program that sadly is no longer currently active. They had some great classes there and have fond memories of a Iyenger influenced yoga teacher that taught classes I liked. This was when I was teaching classical hatha yoga and had not yet shifted my yoga teaching to the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition. Fast forward to the moment of Jun 20223. It's the return and went to People's Co-op. It still is an amazing place. They have a farmer's market here every Wed. Their bulk selection is amazing (see my photos) and so is there produce. Friendly and helpful staff. Afterwards go to Belmont for heaps of plant based, vegetable forward, tasty, amazing vegan restaurants and food trucks that are amazing. Now-a-days, there are so many locations you no longer need to drive further than your own neighborhood. As usual, the produce is gorgeous! But it is definitely more expensive than, let's say, a Freddie's. while they have the usual suspects all year round, I love seeking out the seasonal produce which really shines. Think Hood River strawberries in June, berries in the summer, figs in early fall. They have an extensive cheese department plus high quality meat, poultry and seafood. I especially love when they have Dover sole available - an easy dinner - just pan fry with lemon and capers. The chicken kabobs are a great choice for an effortless but tasty dinner, served along side of a salad and some rice. The deli and hot meal section is extensive offering options for a variety of palettes, and for those with restrictions. They have their own parking lot plus street parking. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Please note that most of the cake toppers (not all), mostly the figurines, were ones I bought separately and added onto the cake as QFC doesn't sell them at their store. If you give them an idea and vision about your birthday cake, they will make magic happen!! I've had this bakery make birthday cakes for my son's 2nd, 5th, and 6th birthday parties. His 7th birthday is coming up so I'm already planning to have them help me with creating an amazing 3D cake again this year! Danette was the cake designer for my son's 5th bday cake (Cuphead theme) which was a full sheet! It was a big project and she was amazing to work with. For my son's 6th bday cake (Fortnite theme) last year, we only did a half sheet and I think Danette also helped, but for the life of me, I can't remember who the other (main) person was, but I do remember the manager also assisted. My son's 2nd birthday cake was a Nightmare Before Christmas themed cake. He loved and still loves Halloween! The entire QFC Bakery staff at this location were amazing and so very helpful each and every time. Everyone always asks me where and who decorated my birthday cakes as they're show stoppers at my parties. We did my son's 5th bday party at Defy and I had random ppl stopping by just to admire the cake! LOL.. My guests also commented about how moist and delicious the cakes were which is really what I care most about with cakes as I loveee a good moist cake. Although I live in Camas, WA and there's a QFC location close to me, this is my go-to place for birthday cakes and my pictures will attest why.

I've shopped at this location for years, and the bakery has always been my go-to for cakes…read more I called the bakery in advance and explained that I needed "Happy Birthday (name)" written on a cake for Saturday, but that I needed to pick it up ahead of time. I had already checked online ordering, which could only guarantee the cake at some unspecified time on Saturday, so I specifically called to make sure I could have the inscription done earlier. The woman I spoke with (in the bakery department) told me it was fine to come in today (Thursday, Sept. 10) and that she would add the inscription. Great! I drove over. When I arrived at 3 p.m., however, the bakery counter was empty. An employee from the neighboring sushi counter went to find someone for me. After I waited a full 10 minutes, she returned and told me that the person who does the cake writing had "left at 2." No one mentioned a 2 p.m. cutoff when I called. I was specifically told to come in, so I made the trip in good faith, waited at an unattended counter, and ultimately left without the service I had called ahead to arrange! Now I'm stuck writing "Happy Birthday" on the cake myself with a tube of grocery-store icing, when the entire reason I called ahead was to have it done professionally. I have a suggestion! If someone asks, how about the bakery staff give customers accurate information about when cake inscriptions are available! Simply telling me, "Be sure to come before 2 p.m." would have prevented the entire problem, and a very frustrating experience for a longtime customer.

I had a VERY full day - seriously, VERY full... I had taken a friend with mobility issues to a play, to dinner and then to Chinese New Year at the gardens. I was determined to get to a birthday party an I refuse to go empty handed. Some of the other attendees were vegan and I know that with New Seasons I do not even have to search for options. Sure enough - I pull up and they even have a sign advertising that they have plenty of vegan options. I had not considered bringing my friend blooms but had to. You walk into that floral and just have to buy something because WOW. I saw gorgeous branches too! Confession time...I was still trying to get Yule down and put away with a mass Spring cleaning and refresh. I grabbed a bunch of curly Willow and blossoming cherry branches - and (spoiler alert) IT WORKED... I promise you will find a picture I attached of them in my living rom for a humble brag. I also got a GORGEOUS bouquet for the birthday Queen for under $25. Snacks easily acquired! Picking just a few was more challenging than anything. And I love that this location has their shopping mall section all together. From stuffed animals to cute and creative books, candles...I have so much I find here and buy because it is quality, unique and fantastic. And then I see this section of wood veneer postcards - so Portland and so AMAZING! A local artist of incredible talent. My dear friend, the birthday Queen happens to be of the fellow Gothy persuasion... Another customer comments about the postcards and says she is a huge fan of the Little Gold Fox cards and asks if I have seen the cards... which she is pointing at... THERE WAS A BAT! These are amazing (again, look at my photos)...I grabbed a stack for my friend, for me to give to other friends - I am framing one and hanging it with all the art I have up at my house. All the staff here were amazing - although I genuinely have that experience consistently with any New Seasons location. People want to help! Even the other customers want to help! How nice is that?!? I definitely think this store may officially win (in my mind) for their arrangement of everything. It was just laid out so nicely.
