The store itself is a cute little convenience shop filled with lots of fun and unusual items. Good candy selection which brought back childhood memories and lots of other snacks and beverages. It's dreamy to be able to drop in somewhere convenient for basic necessities instead of dealing with the chaos of larger grocery stores. And the creative vibe here makes me feel like I'm doing more than picking up eggs and milk, I'm getting a quick infusion of joy and creativity I can take home with me. LOVE is in the details at How Convenient. Nathan, the artist/poet/musician/entrepreneur responsible for bringing this space to life, has literally drenched the venue in a ray of sunshine yellow! It's bold, and beautiful, and fuels my creative soul. Though he's only just beginning, the store opened less than a week ago, he's already curated a fun and eclectic array of goods. Plus, he's open to suggestions for what the community needs! He has a comment/suggestion box where customers can make special requests. I walked in as a curious Lookie-Lou with nothing in particular in mind, and left with my arms full of delicious treats. The store offers everything from beer and wine, and everyday essentials, to some fun and creative food products and knickknacks I've never heard of. I mean, the typical convenience store experience doesn't supply vibrant pink, orange and green notebooks in which you can scribble all of your hopes and dreams. How cool is that? Indeed, my dream is to move on from the tired, already-been-done retail experiences of the past, to more creative, experimental and heart-centered businesses with community in mind. Bravo, How Convenient! You have my whole-hearted support!

Thanks for saving the day, A-1!…read more I was sent on a mission to find 250 lbs of ice on a Saturday night. Though Cash & Carry would seem like an obvious choice, they closed at 6pm. D'Oh! My ice-partner in crime and I sped off in search of new ice vendors. Not being from Portland, we used our handy Yelp apps to locate nearby shops and stores. But no one had reviewed this little gem. Spotting a huge ice bin out front, we dash inside to see how much they had on hand. After hurdling a bit of a language barrier, 250 lbs of fresh ice where loaded up into our little SUV and we sped off to host a kick ass party. Like other mini-marts you can get random things like band aids, Cheez-its, Gatorade, and even magic markers, as we found out! Thanks for the ice, A-1.

That covers a lot of bases. You will receive very friendly greetings and service here. In this day and age, that means a lot to me. I usually stop to get a cold drink when I work in the neighborhood, and there's a super-convenient bus stop just out on the sidewalk. They carry most everything you would find in a convenience store at the usual higher prices. Parking is a bit difficult. The parking lot is shared between vendors and customers, so if you're a pedestrian like me, pay attention. Entering from Barbur Blvd. is damn near impossible, so skip that because it's at a very busy intersection. It's best to enter off Hamilton at the side and you will make your life easier. The Lair Hill neighborhood really loves this family-run market so much so that when the property owner wasn't going to renew their lease in favor of allowing 7-11 to build there, the neighborhood association pitched a fit in 2001, and Swan Mart got to stay. That's a vote of confidence in my book.

If you are heading to a party and want to do a beer sampling or just want to try some new beers, you must stop by this place. Staff were very friendly as well and the parking lot is fairly large.

Anointed General of the Army of Sellwood by his liege, Brian of Takanhoh, Necromancer of Unytel, Conqueror of Ancient Vanisish. A good and potent ale can be had here, but be warned, there is no wench to refill your empty mug, nor a minstrel to sing the praises of warriors past. A lack of mutton and mead are to be found in this Fortress of Glass and Steel, nor will the weary highwayman find arrows or newly tended torch, let alone respite from the evil and unseen CoVid Golem. The peoples of these lands tend not to ride horse nor griffon, hence only narrow squares to place their metal carriages. Beware the blinding torches of these metal carriages; not blowing of the lungs nor dousing of water, however extreme, seem to extinguish their unholy sunfire. Twas a fortnight ago, dark and damp, that I, Patrick the Unslept, Bearer of the Mourning Sword, Friend of the Peoples of Ulikie, found myself and my companion, Ned, at the transom of the Sellwood Market. Upon entering the Market of Glass and Steel, I proclaimed my name and purpose in seeking the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch to a masked Ninja behind his pitiful short wall of wood and displays of cheap products from lands afar. This left me perplexed, as I heard previously that the mighty Brian or Jerome guarded this domain. Who was this masked clad Ninja, donning neither armor nor bearing sword, but had his face concealed by a black face mask, covering mouth and nose? Do the gods mock me, on my day of triumph? The masked Ninja mumbled something incomprehensible, pointing meagerly to the magical snow boxes. I drew my sword, approaching a snow box with an eager caution, my eyes searching for my quarry. Behold! Not the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, but rather a local Pale Ale of my favor! "Nice," I heard Ned's voice behind me. I sheathed my sword and opened the magical snow box, procuring the local Ale. Ned did the same, grabbing a case of his own... "nice," he said quietly. With no wench to take my coin, I approached the masked Ninja, ever cautious that he would challenge me in battle; a fight I was ready to finish, yet not start. After much time and duress, my companion, Ned, and I were able to leave with our wares. This Market of Sellwood does not seem to accept coin from the Realm of Antochial, nor silver or the ground sapphires of Elymium, but rather a plastic square that Ned carries with him. I must learn more of this plastic square of Ned, as it seems to always be the accepted coin of these lands.. yet it grows no smaller in stature with use. What demonry is this?
