They don't offer you a bag for you purchases most of the time. When they do bag your stuff, they bag 3 or 4 22oz beers together in one flimsy plastic bag. Nor will it be receiving an honorable mention for "ingenuity in interior design" or even the door prize for "best display positioning". Nope. At best, they'll take home the "A for effort" prize for keeping the non-functional self-serve push-button cappuccino machine on the shelf. This is about THE most generic non-corporate convenience store on the planet. But being on the end of my block, it earns itself three hearty stars for the following: 1. The ATM fee is $1.50 The ATM fee at the bank down the street is $3.00. This is like bizarro world. Isn't it usually the convenience store that's a rip off?!? 2. They sell du-rags. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. 3. They sell 4-packs of Chelada (now with Clamato!) in a can. (hint - you can combine a 4-pack of Chelada with a du-rag and wrap it in a brown paper bag, it makes an EXCELLENT white elephant gift). 4. The Koreans that own/work the joint always chuckle when I say "anyong aseyo" (sp?) to them. 5. They have one of the most limited and generic selections of alcohol, but refer to #3 above. 6. They're open decently late on the weekends. 7. They see hookers, pimps, street trash, and the like on a regular basis, so when I stroll in wearing jammies and sporting mad bedhead, they don't even bat an eye. 8. If you spend more than about 5 minutes at this place on any given night, you're bound to see a hooker too, which is always entertaining. Then you and your friends get to play the "so you really think she's a hooker? Ewwww." game. 9. Three words: Native Pride hats. 10. They haven't sold any Powerball jackpot tickets, so statistically that helps my chances. 11. Corn Nuts 12. Plentiful bag-ice in the summer months. 13. It's literally less than 500 feet from my house. BTW the Plaid across the intersection a cashier was rude to me and wanted to 'scan' my ID, I am sick of Plaids corporate crap on this, the Law does not 'require' they scan, just check Birthday and it is valid, but because I don't like my ID scanned. They wouldn't sell to me, mind you I do not 'look' under 35, lol. So anyways, I'd rather give my money to an independent shop/small business then the Corporate ass clowns.
