Whatever side of town you live in, I'm sure, if you're like me, that you have your "go-to" place to…read moreeat-in or for ordering take-away, whenever you have the case of the "can't-be-stuffed-cooking-dinner-tonight". Vietnamese Mint is practically my second home. Service is friendly, and the menu is simple, affordable, and always delicious. Sides are $6, Mains (soups and rice dishes), come in Regular $10 or Large $12, and they also offer "ice cream" for $4. Have been here many times, and have always come away satisfied and feeling full. On the occasion that I am more inclined to "take-away", it's best to ring ahead, and your order will be ready in no time to be picked up. My favourite dishes, are the regular Chicken Noodle Soup, the Lemongrass chicken salad, Vietnamese spring rolls, and the Lemongrass marinated porkchop with rice, spring rolls, salad, & fried egg (for only $12). The latter dish is a "special" so it may not become permanent on the menu. I think the word is slowly getting out, that this place is great value, and serves amazing food, because it does appear a lot busier (albeit slowly) that when I first came here when it opened. I feel lucky to have a place I can rely on to never disappoint. Vietnamese mint rocks!

This is not fine dining so don't expect any glamour, however this place does honest, great value Vietnamese food. Tonight my wife and I ordered the chicken rice paper rolls, the Vietnamese spring rolls, the chicken noodle soup, and the spring rolls vermicelli salad. All dishes were tasty, and we have a enough left over for lunch for me for tomorrow :). What I really liked was being provided with bean shoots, fresh lime, and fresh basil in a separate bag with the soup as this added a real zing. Also they had home made chilli sauce that you could pack and take home. This is the type of place you definitely want to see stick around - the guys that work there are quick and really down to earth so please give this place a try.

The broth of the pho was delicious, albeit a little on the weak/watered down side. The Viet iced coffee (listed as iced white coffee) is strong and served in a sealed plastic cup. They have various Asian cold desserts (grass jelly!). The restaurant itself is clean and basic with ample seating for groups of 2-6. The staff are still finding their footing but are trying their best at providing efficient service. It's one of the nicer places to eat within Inala and still very cheap. Mid-week at lunchtime saw this place still bustling and almost at full capacity! I'd suggest it if you're ever in the area!

The waitstaff aren't too bad in general, however, there was one person in particular that definitely stood out and made an big impression on us. He works behind the counter and he is extremely warm, friendly and helpful and greets us in and out with a huge smile every time. In fact, he stuck his head out the door to greet us before we even entered the place which we kinda found a bit comical since most Vietnamese people I know (or people in general) aren't anywhere near this friendly :D I also feel that he is truly genuine and not simply being friendly for the sake of what's in our wallets. The food is of a excellent standard, portion sizes are very, very generous even for what you're paying. I've only eaten here twice, and only had a few dishes, but I can tell that the chef here knows his stuff and executes the dishes very well. My friend ordered a Com Do Ga Chien Gion (Crispy Chicken with Red Rice) and the chicken was cooked to perfection... succulent chicken with a nice thin crispy layer of skin over it. It just had a great delicious crispy texture to it. It was still crisp even after half an hour of being served. I've yet to see any other Vietnamese restaurant in Brisbane execute this technical dish so well. We had dinner there last time on a Friday night, but despite that there were only a handful of people there. Which just didn't make sense to me considering that the food was so good here. So, I'm going out of my way to promote this place and I hope you come and give this place go and help support it. I wouldn't want a nice place with nice food like this to go down simply because of location or lack of advertising. The only couple minor complaints I have is that some of the dishes might be a bit too salty like soup broth and also the portion sizes might be a bit too large and that a lot of people especially people with lower appetites would just end up throwing away most of their meal. But, at least you'll know you'll be hungry afterwards :)
