Charged us for services NOT approved. My kids (ages 20 & 22) went for their annual scheduled routine cleaning, this was first-time visit to Viera Modern Dentistry since we are new to the area. Also first time going to dentist without mom. During what should have been a routine cleaning, they "upgraded" their treatment "based on diagnosis" (so they told me later). Charges included $200 for mouthwash ($50 times four, for upper/lower left/right) and "special cleaning" techniques not covered by insurance (higher price, no doubt). After they finished, they billed EACH of my kids over $300 when our TRICARE DENTAL PLAN should've PAID THIS IN FULL. My honest kids paid their respective bills ($676.18 that I will not be able to get reimbursed). It is my opinion that this association is engaged in DISHONEST PRACTICES and I can only assume all providers in the association give approval to it. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. It is true about previous review. They won't submit the right paper work in order to go through your insurance. It is why I'm not returning and found elsewhere where they're going to submit to my insurance. Which I know they won't pay 100% however at least some amount helps vs the outrageous amount they want me to pay as a self pay for extractions. They have no compassion at all. read more

If I could give this clinic zero stars or even negative stars - I would. I had to have an emergency crown placed back in 2022 because we were on vacation and my molar cracked in half. The dentist convinced me that I needed to have another crown placed in front and behind that tooth for fear of cracking. I didn't want to, but I conceded. For starters, the work was absolute garbage and I had to have all 3 crowns completely replaced, and this subpar dental clinic refused to refund any of the cost because they are down in Florida and I am up in Missouri. Their "solution" was for me to fly down just to have them redo the crowns!! That request was absolutely asinine In my opinion. On top of all that... this place's nonexistent billing department back in 2022 not only charged me insane amount of money to do the crowns (which again were garbage), but then come to find out they never actually bothered to even send the bill to my insurance at all. We went back and forth for almost a year trying to get it resolved. This company never notified me that the insurance claim didn't ever "go through" (obviously because they never bothered to submit the paperwork). Due to the fact that I never recieved a call back, that it was FINALLY handled. Nope! They just turned the balance that should have been covered by insurance into collections.... fast forward to NOW - I get a phone call from a collections company almost 2 years later about this outstanding balance, so of course the claim is out of the window completely for my insurance company to even cover. I am now stuck paying for 100% of the crowns (that had to be replaced by another dentist anyway - because this company couldn't be bothered to do their job in any sort of satisfactory manner. I would highly suggest not wasting your time with this company. It looked like a nice clinic, but that's about as far as the compliment will go for me. read more

Super rude , quick to cancel my appointment without understanding what I was asking for

I was worried about coming here for my root canal because of another review. I'm happy to report to anyone concerned, Edward Kosakoskis contract with VMD was terminated. I saw Dr John Hong and he was efficient and kind. He did excellent work! The care they took with me was amazing. I expressed my nervousness around dental work and everyone was very kind. They didn't attempt to get me to pay for anything extra and the office ladies were very clear with every form I signed and every expense that could be charged. They are very transparent with what's going on both sides of the desk. read more

I got an email asking me to review this company so I will. NEVER GO HERE !!! I just moved to town and called to verify they were a provider with my insurance, so I was a new patient. They say new patient is $59. I have two dental insurances. They billed my visa for my copay which I authorized of $10. They insisted because I need periodontal work I had to have some laser cleaning not the regular cleaning. They opened a credit card in my name that I told them I did not want. It affected my credit score. They then credited back the charge but did not cancel the account. I know because I got a card in the mail. Now obviously I will keep the card because if I close it, my credit score will be affected. They have a sign at the front desk when you walk in to contribute to a water charity $30 and receive $100 credit on my account. They then charged my Visa an additional $916. They did NOT submit my claim to my primary carrier, only to my secondary insurance which is my medicare. I am a senior citizen and I think they like taking advantage of seniors. These people are a racket and are upselling you the whole time. NEVER GO HERE !!! I am reporting them to the insurance commissioner and county senior abuse hotline. They deserve 0 stars but that is not an option. read more

At every cleaning they say I need "deep cleaning" at a $170 upcharge not covered by insurance. I have gone to other dentists and never been told that. They also charge $95 each time for "dental education" (how to floss). My insurance always denies that and I am not asked to pay it. Just a scam to try and get money from insurance. I highly recommend Dr. Billhartz and her assistant, Tanya. These professionals go above and beyond to make sure their patient is comfortable and not experiencing pain during procedures. I have had two crowns put on back molars. Both teeth had old metal fillings and were cracked. Their location made the work difficult as I have a small mouth. Dr. Billhartz is the most compassionate dentist I have seen in the almost 70 years I've been receiving dental treatments. Consistently a money grabbing experience. They will always find a way to up charge and hide fees. If you receive x-rays, the doctor won't see you (most insurances only cover one set of x-rays per year) Sitting in the lobby, it was amazing how many people were "diagnosed" with a gun issue and charges $170 for the treatment (if you go, be prepared for that). I switched to a reputable dentist and I don't feel like I was preyed upon like at VMD. 5 and 6 pockets magically turned into one 4 with the balance being 1's and 2's at my new dental practice. They also tried to charge me $176.00 for about 10oz of antibiotic rinse during cleaning. Seems almost criminal to me. You should be ashamed. read more

I just returned from a chipped tooth filling replacement and my smile looks better than it's looked in 20 years. I had Dr. Nguyen and Lizzie work on my front tooth filling and these women are impecable - You cannot tell I had a chipped tooth. Dr. Nguyen is a master at her craft as well as empathetic. My first time getting a cavity filling, Dr. Nguyen saw my terror with the whole process and was kind and comforting to me. Great staff, great doctors, great experience, I'm so happy. I would stay FAR AWAY from Edward Kosakoski, Endodontist. If you have to have a root canal or any work done do not let this man treat you. He is terrible. I unfortunately had to see him twice. Both times he did not want to be there and was not thorough at all. Extremely rude and miserable attitude. I am too nice and should have walked out then. Attached is a copy of my complaint to the Florida Health dpt regarding ethiscs violations by Dr. Kosakoski. case number 202421041 I made an appointment with Vierra Modern Dentistry for a #31 root canal, with a possible need to replace my ceramic crown. I confirmed at my initial phone consult that this was available at the Melbourne office. I sent over dental records/referral. On my second call to schedule, I again confirmed that I could get a crown, same day, if needed. (the DMD would need to decide this when I was treated). When I arrived for my 9AM appointment, I found out Dr. K was an independent contractor(this was not prior disclosed). I again wanted to confirm availability of a dentist for a crown, should it be needed. I was told this was not set up. I eventually was told I would need to return the next day, should I need a new crown. I was then informed that I needed to return at 3PM, as my 9-10AM slot was mostly taken up with these delays. I informed the scheduler that I intended to leave a Google review about my poor experience. She characterized this a "threat" to review them, and acted as if this was not allowed. I had to explain to her that my leaving a review of my valid experience was not in any way a threat, but my right as a patient. I left , announcing I would return at 3PM. As I drove home, I then received a terse call from reception that Dr. K would not honor his 3PM appointment. I asked to speak to Dr. K. When he called me, he yelled at me that I had made his assistant cry, that he would not see me. When I asked "what did I possibly do to make her cry, she was not crying when I left" He hung up on me. I called the office again, and he refused to speak to me. It goes without saying that he didn't give me a referral for my #31 root canal, which I still need. read more

I went in knowing I had periodontal disease and was wanting to get it taken care of. They were great and scheduled me for a deep clean/scaling and a $400 laser treatment, that insurance doesn't cover. I went in and the cleaning was not a deep cleaning as it took very little time and they only used a topical numbing that did nothing. Got the "laser" treatment and schedule my recheck. Went in for recheck for the periodontist to take a look and was told I needed surgery or to get dentures. Of course the normal bone surgery wouldn't do so they said they would send me a quote for the "Laser" surgery. I ended up calling the next day asking for the quote. $8k+, and of course insurance doesn't cover because a new surgery. I asked to please email me the quote along with the other quotes I had for options, as there was no way I would be able to afford the $8k. I received the laser surgery quote via email. I replied asking for the other quotes and if it was possible to get antibiotics as there was an infection. The reply I got was that I had to much bone loss and would need to see another place to fit me for dentures. Funny, their website says they do dentures there. I replied twice asking about the antibiotic and a quote if they would be pulling my teeth. I never got a response. I have called the office twice asking that my X-rays and record be emailed to me and those requests have gone in unanswered as well. So basically I feel that if you are cannot afford to pay the astronomical price they want for treatments, that aren't covered by insurance, then you are pond scum and not worthy. read more

So thankful to Dr. Witelus and his team. I am a cancer patient recently out of surgery when I called in with an emergency cracked tooth. They were kind, compassionate, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Not only did the office staff fit me in right away, they stayed late to ensure I could have my crown fitted same day. I was pleasantly surprised to leave with a beautiful new tooth. The office has all state of the art equipment which made my appointment easy. No gooey mold stuffed in my mouth instead a small handheld wand waved over my teeth to make the needed impression. Try this office if you are searching for dental needs! read more

I was charged full price for a 5 minute, half-hearted failed attempt at a root canal. The temporary filling left a gaping hole that consistently trapped food. I was also given an estimate for over $7000 in future procedures. I returned to my private dentist who was able to save my tooth. The following is based on my personal experience with this place. My insurance Humana referred me to this place, and when I called the place, and stated I needed an extraction from an Oral Surgeon. I stated I had been referred by 321 Family Dentistry, and I was told that I needed to have that office send their office an X-ray and a referral. Well, Humana doesn't require a referral, but I agreed to obtain the items. After contacting 321 Family Dental, who were totally awesome in agreeing to quickly send over the items, after I was able to obtain an email from Viera Modern, I thought all was good! Not So! This was Friday, so on Monday I again contacted, Viera Modern just past 8 a.m., to see if they had received the information. I reached a person who required me to repeat everything several times, but she was very polite. She stated she was sending a message to the office, and that they would call me back. No call back was received, so on Tuesday, I again called and received the rudest, and nasty person, who interrupted me before I could even complete my question, and then she became insulting and nasty to the point I told her I would call back when someone else could answer! But when I thought about it, I figured why would I want to deal with a place that would hire someone who was such a failure at customer service!! This person was really awful and I began to wonder, how many patients she had pushed away from that place That person stated they had not received the X-ray and referral, but 321 Family Dental, states they sent the email to Viera Modern Dentistry, using an email that I have written confirmation, that the email address I gave 321 Family Dentistry was correct, and 321 Family Dentistry also sent me a copy at my request! As a Travel nurse who has worked with patients across the country, and a veteran, I know what compassion is, but the person at Viera Modern showed me NONE! If I was willing to allow 321 Fam to take my tooth out, but the provider stated I needed to have oral surgery, or I would not have gone to anyone else. 321 Family has wonderful, caring, and compassionate staff!! read more

I had gone there for a little over a yr. was told I had periodontal disease and needed deep cleaning. I never had bleeding of my gums when I brushed or flossed. The last time I was there, a year ago, I left in tears. I just went to a new dentist, full xrays taken and perioscreening done. I do not have periodontal disease ( which I knew) but was always told each appt that I did and needed a deep cleaning. Just beware of Viera Modern Dentistry's tactics to rake in money. Would prefer to rate zero stars! Sent me to their periodontist back in December who only measured my gums and made recommendation. Went for cleaning in February and only did regular cleaning saying to come back in 3 months. Went yesterday and hygenist did xrays and measured my gums! Wow! I knew they could do that but I paid $75 for specialist in December. Now my teeth have gotten worse (didn't do what specialist recommended in December) and want to do special cleaning for $1200!! they Are over charging your copayment's check with your insurance company to see what your copayment should have been! thats how I found out

This ordeal started on Monday when i called at 9:30am, after calling 6 other dentists that were on my "providers list". I called to verify my insurance, gave member ID, etc and was promised a call back for copay pricing. Never got the call back, waited all day until i called again to be told "oh yeah, i have a note here!" For which they told me my copay would be $10 for an exam and xrays because i cracked my tooth and it's cutting up my tongue. I made an appointment for 2 days later, just wanting the exam and to shave the tooth so it isn't stabbing me, and to make an appt for a later date after i get paid to fix the tooth. I get to my appt and verify copay AGAIN to be told it's actually 4x more (and i didn't currently have the money). Then the lady up front argues with me, tells me i'm wrong ( like i pulled the copay amount out of my own ass) and just keeps telling me "no one told you that" or "i don't know why they would..." until i ultimately walked back out with nothing having been done. Glad i drove 40min for nothing, will not be back and will definitely tell everyone i know, both at work and family/friends about terrible service, lack of knowledge, and overall rudeness. AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COSTS!! IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD. My father had dental work done here and was overcharged for his treatment plan by thousands of dollars. We have been trying to collect the funds for over 4 months and we keep getting the run around. They agree that they need to refund the money and say that they are doing so, however it's all talk. They have yet to return the funds that they were never owed from the very beginning. Taking advantage of the elderly!! Unfortunately, we have no choice but to seek legal action against this dentist. My initial interaction was over the phone to make an appointment and that was pleasant as the woman I spoke with was kind and sympathetic to my concerns. When I arrived I was greeted with care and kindness up until the moment the Dr. walked in the room. Our interaction was brief and I was basically excused because "he can't help me" because I was "advanced". I chose this particular office because they specialize in Periodontal disease (which I think I have but was not confirmed in my appointment). The Dr. briefly looked at me then said I need to go find another office that could maybe help me. He did not offer any advice or direction so, I had to ask his opinion to get any kind of "professional opinion". I felt disgusting as I walked out. I held back tears of feeling mortified by the way I was treated by him - as if he was annoyed that I was there at 5pm for an emergency procedure that would possibly cause him to miss a dinner date. WARNING this dentist office is in the business of expensive crown sales. Nothing more nothing less. The dentists are like timeshare salesmen. The dentist must work on commission. I went in last September because I was new to the area and had a filling that was coming out. They sold me on a crown. I was also told I needed two other crowns at a later date because of cavities under existing fillings. I had a cleaning done which didn't seem normal and definitely not the business this office was in on a regular basis. I went back yesterday (May) for the follow up and after X-rays I was told I needed five crowns over $10K. I told them I would need a second opinion because my dental hygiene had never been that bad. I went to another dentist today. After X-rays and a thorough dental exam I was told my teeth were fine and I needed nothing other than my semi-annual cleaning. I specifically asked about the status of my previous filling and possible cavities. The dentist told me everything was perfect. The dentist did tell me the crown I received in September was very nicely done. I paid in full back in September. For months I kept getting a bill for the crown. Each time I got a bill I went to the office and they assured me it was a mistake. After the fourth bill/month/office visit they finally cleared up the bill. I am of the opinion this place is a scam. read more

RUN as fast as you can!! This office is the worst! I also went to Dentists of Melbourne ( the same corporate group) before they just closed their office without any notice! I was told I needed deep cleaning, laser treatments, etc. etc. They refused to do a cleaning until I saw a periodontist on staff. Having been diligent about dental care for 35+ years, I was flabbergasted! I only went there because my dentist retired! So.....I was also told I needed a crown on a bothersome tooth. Agreeing with that assessment, I forked out hundreds of dollars and had the crown put on at the Dentists of Melbourne office. Fast forward 12 months, the crown failed, I had to go to a REPUTABLE office for a root canal. The doctor there said the crown was not only fitted poorly, it was not made properly at the lab (the one side was too short and not meeting the gumline!) So.....$2,000 later, my tooth is finally as it should be. I have been seeing a dentist in private practice (she is not on my insurance) who has commended me on my excellent oral hygiene. She was floored when I told her VMD recommended deep cleaning and laser treatments!! This corporate office, and all affiliates should be shut down!! read more
