About a week later, I was told my chair was beyond repair. I picked it up and found a little shop called Broken Leg Furniture Repair. The owner is the repair man and he took it on. One week and $400 later the chair looked like it had never been broken. He did a masterful job. So much for John and Chris.

We were very pleased with the result: the people are extremely knowledgeable, they suggested small vents as we had chosen a leather which we later realized was a great idea, they added piping, which made the chairs look great. I'm sure I drove him crazy each and every time as it takes me forever to pick a fabric, but he's so patient and guides me along until I reduce the varibles down to a manageable number and ended up with the perfect fabric. Both my couches have curved backs and even with a very unforgiving fabric they looked great each time. He also changes out the legs and made them look much more modern. It's so great to completely trust the process and know you'll have a perfect job done.

I am leaving this review on behalf of a relative after they told me about their experience today…read more After spending many hours, on two separate days in their markham location, I was ready to place the order this afternoon. (No problem paying for a quality product, but this felt different) After finalizing the fabric choice, style, size and other details (including the stitching and legs) the price was provided. The price was much higher than expected and I asked as to why it was that high and not the price as discussed on prior visits. Was initially told $5250 for the sofa, then $1800 for leather, plus HST. The final price ended up being well over $8000. When I asked if the price can do any better - the staff member advised that they already did the best that he could. I advised that this is over the expected $8000 price. I requested to think about it, as I would not immediately have the additional funds at this point he offered to split the delivery fee ($150). That was quite a surprise, as he had previously just advised me, multiple times, that he could not adjust the price at all. At this point I requested to not the order number as I would have to seriously consider whether or not the sofa would be purchased. At this point the salesman simply got up and started about his business in the showroom, completely ignoring me and not even acknowledging my departure. The chance of purchasing the item has certainly now lessened after the treatment of the sales staff. A call has been placed with the owner (Bill) to discuss the issue and we will see how it will be addressed - but at this point it certainly is clear that this staff member (and possibly the company) needs to learn to to treat customers with honesty and respect. Hopefully the owner responds to the concerns and he is not the reason that his staff treat perspective customers (not sure how likely that is now) in this manner. Quite shameful the way they acted. I would certainly not send my parents to their shop based on this experience. Will update after / if the owner calls to address what occurred. Certainly hope that they do - it would clearly indicate the true customer service level of the company.

We had two wingback chairs recovered by Doug at Toronto School of Upholstery. He did a fantastic…read morejob on them. The material we used was stripes, which is a bit more difficult since the stripes need to look consistent and to match on the top and bottom. We had the chairs back within a couple of weeks. The chairs were pricey, but consistent with other quotes we got. (if anything, a bit cheaper than other places) Also, most of the upholsterers we talked to required us to find our own material, whereas Doug has a decent selection on site. Overall we were very pleased.

I had a 3-seat sofa and matching armchair and 6 dining room chairs from the 1980's re-upholtered by…read morethe Toronto School of Uphotery. Doug Green was the salesperson and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. The estimate was very reasonable compared to others that I contacted. The work took approximately 6 weeks which was also very reasonable. The upholstery work itself was well done and I was happy with the overall results. I have been using the furniture now for more than 2 years and am satisfied with the fabric quality. The estimate reflected exactly the final price which was a thrill since I have since had a very poor experience with another company for a smaller job that cost twice as much in the end. I have two cautions. The new fabric was attached to my sofa and armchair frames in such a manner that there are now gaps at the corners between the frame and fabric of the arms that were not present in the original furniture. Also, the wood trim on the living room furniture was reattached in a sloppy way - finishing nails showing and mitred corners not nicely aligned. The other concern I have is that ones possessions will not be unloaded from the delivery truck until a cheque for the full amount outstanding is handed over. Once I had my furniture back and in my house, I noticed the flaws in the workmanship. I didn't follow up since I felt the price was reasonable and no one else notices the gaps or nails or unmitred corners unless I point it out. However, I believe that this reflects the overall quality and attention to detail of the company. I don't think furniture should be held ransom until full payment is received. If the company cares about their reputation, they should make sure a customer is satisfied before demanding full payment.

Worst Experience Ever!…read more The first time we went in, when we were unsure as to whether we wanted to use their services, they were the sweetest and extremely attentive. When we came back with our cushions their attitude quickly turned sour. The older woman, I believe the manager, was extremely rude (probably because she knew she had us). We were told a price double the amount of our initial walk-in, we should have turned around and ran. We were then told 3 weeks! Because they don't do any of the sewing on site, not something we were told when we initially went in. Also, we were told we had to leave our cushions there leaving us with no coach for the duration. We FINALLY get a call saying the covers are done and we go pick them up. We get home and they screwed up one of the zippers even though we gave SPECIFIC instructions on how to sew it because it is a custom pillow. We bring it back the next day they are open (Tuesday as they are closed Sunday and Monday) and we are told it could take 2 weeks to fix a mistake they made, the only 'apology' we received was a 'no one is perfect'. 2 weeks passes, no call. I call them, we are told that the cushion is done and that it 'just came in'. Just came in at 3pm on a Saturday? Who are you kidding, lady? I was not born yesterday. We get the pillow home and low and behold the f'd it up AGAIN! I would love to say that I will never go into this store again but looks like I will have to if I want this pillow fixed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are terrible, rude and have no idea what they are doing! Also, they are extremely expensive for all the mistakes they have made that we now have to suffer for. If I could give them a zero star I would.
