if you're looking to get some old media converted just look somewhere else. They take for ever to convert your stuff and there is no communication whatsoever. When my tapes were finally done they decided to call me but I was busy and couldn't pick up the phone. After that the owners decided to just never call me back. On top of that there were issues converting one of my tapes and they never communicated that and decided to just not convert that one but still charge me for three tapes. I had no idea what was on my old videos. One of the best days ever.....watching so many memories that I have forgotten forgotten about.

The place is right around the corner from my house so that's pretty convenient for me but the parking situation is frustrating because it's on Kedzie and it's constantly busy and you have to park on the street so it's hard to find parking. There is actually a parking lot in back but not a lot people know about that. It does have that nice family owned feel, but with that comes 2 not very good things: 1.) The selection is pretty bad because it's just not a big chain store. 2.) They were struggling financially so they converted literally half of the store into porn, which can be good or bad depending on your motives. Recently they made it so you can have your movies for something like three days, which is nice because back in the day it used to be that you could only have it overnight, so this is much easier. No pressure to watch it that day. They take fairly good care of the DVDs. Out of the literally hundreds of times I've rented something, I've only gotten one or two DVDs that were beyond repair and they just let me trade it in for a different movie. It was alright for me because I only have to walk but that could be frustrating for people who live far away. The people who work there are very nice (my best friend actually just started working there) and they have an "employees picks" section which, if you know the person has good taste, can be great if you just want to rent a movie but don't know what to get. I've had an unsettling experience with Video Playground in the Mt Greenwood neighborhood. It's not so much with the work they did converting a variety of different media to DVD, that was complected in an ok to excellent manner. It was with an employee there, the daughter of the owners. Her name is Kristen. I had 3 situations where I dealt with her initially: my inquiry, the drop off of the media and the pick-up\payment. Each time Kristen was great, delightful! I couldn't have been happier and began touting this place to everyone. On the 3rd occasion when I picked up the finished product she cheerfully explained that if anything was wrong like I wanted to change the music or anything else, please let them know and they would fix it. They wanted a happy customer. Now, when i took her up on that - I needed to change the background music on one of the DVDs and inquired as to why many of the pictures on another DVD were "backwards," she turned from Dr Jekyl to Mrs Hyde! She was blunt, short and downright rude. In a voice dripping with attitude and sarcasm; "Backward?, BACKWARDS!? No one's EVER said that! You're the first one! Whaddaya mean backwards!?" I was so taken back that I actually asked her if something or someone had upset her that day as to explain why she was reacting like this. "NO" she repeated. I told her I would take that DVD back home and review it again. I have since figured out the obvious; this DVD was made from several carousel slide cartidges and they were simply in the carousel backwards. I certainly don't expect them to figure them out one at a time. I did ask her to please change the music background on the other DVD I was dropping off. She said, again with the same tone, that this music is what they usually put on these family DVDs and that everyone else likes it. Repeating, everyone else likes it. I've NEVER had a problem before! She was just as rude when I picked up the corrected DVD the other day. This was a $400+ order. I don't know what I said or did to justify this behavior. I just got 2 huge boxes of family tapes from my sister in law that will need processing also and represents at least $1,000 more in business. I've met the parents who also do the work on premises and they are sweethearts. Kristen's behavior is beyond my comprehension but they will never get my business again! read more

I went there today to look at renting some dvds.What a mistake.The younger people who work here hv major attitudes.
