I had 50+ Sony mini DVR tapes for transfer to hard disk. Tapes were labeled in numerical sequence…read moreoldest to newest, rubber banded together in sets of ten. Two problems: 1) Technician did not transfer tapes in sequence so historical order on drive they transferred DVR's to was all messed up. So that's a few hours of my time reviewing, renaming and sorting mpeg file names. 2) CP tech added their sequence label to the DVR cassette cover on the side of the cassette cover where the cassette notes were written. Not deal breaker but irritating none the less. Placed several calls to let them know to have better attention to detail for next customer. No call back. A few times called during regular biz hours and phone message said thanks for calling after hours - business is closed. Happened multiple times so not a fluke. Go there and check them out - they may do a great job for you. The stacks of plastic bins with people's orders piled willy nilly behind the front counter should have given me pause.

I sent an 8mm film with sound that was shot in the 1950's and 1960's to CinePost. They digitized…read moreit, improved the quality of the colors, lighting, etc., and recovered the sound perfectly. This is after 4 or 5 shops told me it couldn't be done, or else said they would try it but would likely destroy the film in the process, with no guarantee of the outcome. CinePost gave me great advice and returned a digitized version to me in a couple of weeks which was better than the original. My family members are surprised that it turned out as well as it did, and are very grateful that we're able to preserve these priceless family memories. Given that the video is of an area that's now a national park, we've been asked by the community to donate a copy to the local museum. Can't thank Myron and the folks at CinePost enough. I'll be sending some other films to him shortly.

I took my 16 MM film from 1954 to Costco first. Yesvideo scanned it - it…read more was horrible. I could hardly make out the faces. So I returned the scanned material and gave it to Cinepost. The Cinepost scan was much higher quality than Costco. The colors were correct and sharp, the resolution looked good. The only thing I wish they would have done was to lighten the exposure in one part of the film that was dark due to the filming. It cost about double or so the Costco price but if you want a movie that you will actually enjoy watching it is worth it. I was worried the original film would degrade to the point where it was worthless so I wanted to get the content scanned. Cinepost also does not copy protect your scanned film - you can send it to anyone and everyone for free. I used "wetransfer.com" to send to all my family members and friends. Yesvideo makes you pay for CDs with your film on it which can get expensive if you want a lot of copies. Cinepost also contacted me to see if I was satisfied with the results; you won't get this from yesvideo.

I wanted to transfer a VHS tape to DVD for my wife, so I started calling places based on pricing…read more The first place didn't answer, so my next call was to Hecker Video. I'm glad the first place didn't answer. Hecker Video is a small business based in New York state whose Georgia branch was started when one of their guys, Alan, moved to Kennesaw a few years ago. The time of the year and number of videos you have to be transferred will obviously make a difference in turnaround time, but for my one video just prior to the start of the holiday rush, I couldn't have asked for a better transaction. Alan finished the job faster than I expected, and now I have a gift for my wife that I know she will enjoy. Alan is also a talkative guy, so in additional to good video transfer service, I got some good conversation when I dropped and picked up my order.

I recently had Memory Fortress turn 35 mm negatives into digital pictures. The quality of the…read morepictures I received back was an A+. I am very pleased in that regard. The lower ranking is because around 85 negatives were missed in that they were never digitized. I didn't receive those pictures. They were scattered throughout the job so it wasn't like a strip of negatives was missed. It was one here and there. Luckily I wasn't charged for these, but it is disappointing that so many were missed. With this being said, would I use Memory Fortress again? Yes, I would.

I organized my photos into zip lock bags and taped a label with the "folder" name for photo subject categories. Memory Fortress returned a 32 GB flash drive that contained my "folders."
