I was put at ease right from the start by the courteous, highly professional and compassionate staff. The preparation for the procedure involved starting two IV lines, which in my case, due to very small veins, is easier said than done. I had people sticking me in both hands at the same time, but they were super nice about it. Somehow, everyone managed not to become aggravated. I was especially impressed by Dr. Raggio, who was patient, personable and very knowledgeable. He thoroughly explained everything that he was about to do and made sure that my decision to go ahead with the procedure was well-informed. I can't say I've ever had fun during a medical procedure, but it was quick and easy, and I actually enjoyed the experience. If only all medical teams were this good! Oh! and they give you a sandwich and something to drink while in recovery; a very thoughtful gesture when you've been instructed not to eat or drink anything after midnight the night before. Not one office would take her, some even said it didnt sound like an emergency and most said she needed to see her pcp first. I couldn't believe it. The 13th phone call was UVA, I was transferred to Kate. She heard the frustration and fear in my voice and booked an appointment that day. She reassured that they would take a look and see what was going on. Once she was seen by Kate and Dena, we found out shortly after that this was in fact an emergency situation. Dena and Kate jumped into action and ordered all tests done stat and surgery was scheduled shortly after. Kate, Dena, Dr Beardsley, Dr Washington, Dr Winick worked friviously to get everything done quickly and prepare for my mothers procedure. When Dr Washington and Dr Winick were faced with complications during her surgery they did everything possible to keep my mother alive and it worked! We are forever grateful! Dr. G lays out all your options and explains the differences, letting you make your own decision. Every other doctor told me to get a hysterectomy for my giant fibroid, but Dr. G. helped me figure out what I wanted. I decided on embolization and myomectomy. Dr. G. even referred me to another amazing doctor (Dr. Ali) for my surgery. I did have severe pain and Dr. G. was on the phone with us every step of the way. He helped us out so much and I could never be more grateful to have found him. He is truly a great doctor and a great person.

The ultrasound exam revealed the source of my problem...which was actually the cause of the veins and swelling in my feet and ankles. I underwent treatment and the problem has resolved. They were wonderful. The treatment was easy and although there was some post procedure pain it resolved quickly....so happy never to have the problem with swollen ankles again.
