I was comforted knowing this facility actually has real doctors (Dr. Antani) and registered nurses as opposed to the previous laser center I tried. The doctor spoke frankly about the prognosis and risks of sclerotherapy, and the procedure was performed by a nurse (Kim) who was very friendly, helpful and thorough. Pain wise, I would say it is comparable to laser vein removal since you are injected in the spider veins multiple times with a very small needle - just felt like quick little pricks or being snapped with a rubber band, but very tolerable in my opinion. The office was clean and all of the staff I encountered (front desk, nurse, medical doctor) were friendly and knowledgeable. I never felt rushed and was very comfortable throughout my time there (about 45 min total). I only had my procedure two days ago and results can take about a month, but based on my experience so far, I would highly recommend the Center for Interventional Medicine. My one tip is to buy your thigh high compression stockings elsewhere prior to the appointment, otherwise you have to buy some pricey ones at the office. I got mine on Amazon for less than $30.

I was put at ease right from the start by the courteous, highly professional and compassionate staff. The preparation for the procedure involved starting two IV lines, which in my case, due to very small veins, is easier said than done. I had people sticking me in both hands at the same time, but they were super nice about it. Somehow, everyone managed not to become aggravated. I was especially impressed by Dr. Raggio, who was patient, personable and very knowledgeable. He thoroughly explained everything that he was about to do and made sure that my decision to go ahead with the procedure was well-informed. I can't say I've ever had fun during a medical procedure, but it was quick and easy, and I actually enjoyed the experience. If only all medical teams were this good! Not one office would take her, some even said it didnt sound like an emergency and most said she needed to see her pcp first. I couldn't believe it. The 13th phone call was UVA, I was transferred to Kate. She heard the frustration and fear in my voice and booked an appointment that day. She reassured that they would take a look and see what was going on. Once she was seen by Kate and Dena, we found out shortly after that this was in fact an emergency situation. Dena and Kate jumped into action and ordered all tests done stat and surgery was scheduled shortly after. Kate, Dena, Dr Beardsley, Dr Washington, Dr Winick worked friviously to get everything done quickly and prepare for my mothers procedure.
