I would have never guessed that this is Buckeye! I can see myself retired in this community. The Victory Steps is minutes away from the center of Verrado and technically in walking distance from different new built communities. Lovely weather and easy hike (I didn't go too far in), can't ask for a better experience!

After a long commute from the East valley and never having been in Verado, I was pleasantly surprised. Such a cute little 'town'. It's very quaint and full of active 60+ people walking and biking around the area. I found where the steps were located and searched for a parking spot. Heads up, parking I'd limited on a busy weekend. I did get lucky and found a good spot on a road next to a small parking lot. The stairs, for me, were somewhat anticlimactic. I had it in my mind to be a longer climb. My count of steps were less than posted on site. No big deal. I ended up doing the stairs five times to get a good workout. The view from the top is really pretty. Also, if you go during a peak time, prepare for it to be crowded. I had to move around people but it wasn't bad. I'm not sure how soon I'd make the drive again, but worth checking out especially if you live close.

Great hiking trail and workout. If you're just gonna do the steps. You'll have to do them several times to get a good workout in. If you want a real hiking experience. Go past the steps and keep going. Follow the trail to the very top. It's pretty easy to follow even if you take different routes you'll most likely figure it out or end up back on the right path. Coming down was easy as well. Didn't go back to the steps. Went pretty much straight down the back to where my truck was at the end of the culdesac. Ended up crawling under some bobwire which was easy. Little bit of climbing. Nothing strenuous. Walking stick would probably be more of a hassle up there, but definitely worth doing.

The victory steps are a staple of the west valley -- a place where folks of all fitness levels go to get a good sweat in. While it feels and looks very unassuming, climbing up and down the steps is harder than it appears. Many folks do go to climb them several times. To get to the victory steps, you do have to pass through a residential area, so please be careful and ensure that you're adhering to the speed limits. Depending on the time of year (and time of day), parking can be limited, but there is nearby parking if you're willing to take a longer walk. In my opinion, worth going at least once!

Great hike! We only did it once. That's about all we could handle after a night of drinking lol. Most people went up and down the steps a few times.

I was super excited to try this challenge especially after recovering from a tibia fracture eight months ago. I have to say the stairs were well kept but the rest of the trail was not well marked or well taken care of. I would caution people that are in good health to do the loop.

We drove from California to go up the Victory Steps. The Victory Steps at Verrado in Buckeye, Arizona comprise over 340 steps, and I successfully walked up and down TWICE (once alone and the second time with my 80 year old mom) The steps are constructed from railroad ties and are part of a dirt trail. The location is surrounded by beautiful boulders and stone rock formations. I saw many wild rabbits and several coyotes, a few birds, a beautiful skyline, and many people enjoying nature.

I found this place through instagram a while ago. Definitely it's a fun little hiking spot hidden in little cute town of Verrado. The trail itself very short but straight up. You can continue climbing up higher to the left once you get to the top and keep going to the top where the one big cactus is then hike back down to the right loop follow the signs. Definitely you don't want to hike here during the hot season because there are no trees or shades anywhere. Winter is the ideal time to hike here and Sunday is the best because after hike you can stop at beautiful little Verrado town and enjoy local food for lunch at the farmers market and bring home some local produce from the local farms nearby.

If you're looking for a scenic yet challenging outdoor workout in Buckeye, AZ, the Victory Steps at Verrado are a must-visit. Nestled in the beautiful Verrado community, these steps offer a unique blend of fitness and breathtaking desert views, making them a fantastic destination for both locals and visitors. The Experience The Victory Steps are essentially a long staircase built into the natural landscape, designed to challenge your endurance while rewarding you with panoramic views of the White Tank Mountains and Verrado below. The climb is intense but manageable, making it a great workout for all fitness levels. From the base, the steps stretch upward, winding through the rugged desert terrain. Depending on your pace and fitness level, it can take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to reach the top. Once there, you're greeted with a stunning 360-degree view, making the effort feel totally worth it. What I Loved: Scenic Views: The higher you climb, the better the views get. Perfect for sunrise or sunset hikes. Great Workout: Whether you're walking or running, your legs will feel the burn! It's a fantastic way to build endurance and strength. Well-Maintained: The steps are clean, well-built, and seamlessly blend with the natural landscape. Serene Atmosphere: Unlike busier trails, this spot is peaceful and not overly crowded, especially in the mornings. Perfect for Solo Visits or Groups: Whether you want to challenge yourself alone or bring friends for extra motivation, this spot is great either way! Things to Consider: No Shade: Bring water and wear sunscreen--Arizona's sun is no joke! Limited Parking: There's a small parking lot near the entrance, but it can fill up quickly during peak hours. Not for Beginners? While it's doable for most, some may find the steep incline challenging. Taking breaks is key! Final Thoughts: The Victory Steps at Verrado offer a challenging yet rewarding workout with some of the best views in Buckeye. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast looking for a new challenge or someone who enjoys scenic outdoor spots, this is a must-visit. Just bring water, pace yourself, and enjoy the climb! Would I come back? Absolutely! This is now one of my go-to workout spots when I want a mix of cardio, strength, and scenery--solo or with friends!

Gayle and I hiked up the Victory Steps last week and then came back down one of the trails to the parking lot. It's 300+ steps and the surrounding desert scenery is gorgeous. The new 50+ Victory at Verado is pretty close, and I hope that's where that development ends. And it's not that hard to do. With a few stops (to take it all in), we were up to the top of the stairs in maybe 15 minutes or less? The trail down was actually a little harder as the incline and loose rock were more prone to a slip, trip, or fall. There are also other trail options both up and down, if you want to hang around a little more. Or you could do the stairs-trail loop a couple more times for good measure. Public Service Announcement A short and relatively easy hike like still requires precautions, such as sunscreen, sturdy shoes, a hat, and plenty of water.

Kicked my butt! But I haven't done much hiking since the heat got out of control. They need more parking during big events.

My climb was exhilarating, scary, challenging. And gorgeous. I did not make it to the top. I made it 3/4 of the way. It would be much safer if there were rails. Until they do take a walking stick or two

Just what I needed to get my day going!! Steps are steep, a lil tricky to navigate if you're imbalanced.

It's a long and steady climb, definitely one of the more challenging hikes in the west valley. The last little bit there's some scrambling to get to the peak. The views are amazing and the giant slabs of quartz are beautiful.

I'm a Civic owner, so as soon as I heard about the sand roads and necessity of a high clearance/4x4 vehicle, I thought the day would never come (there's no way I'm buying a gas guzzling Jeep with a 30-mi each way work commute lol). That is, until I met some other awesome hikers from the Valley and coordinated an epic carpool! We met up in downtown Phoenix and headed out in the Jeeps to Goodyear. After getting off the 10 and heading down Estrella/Rainbow Ranch roads for what seemed like a good while, along came the sand/dirt roads. And man did they live up to their reputation! Some super fun off-roading action ensued, and let's just say I was so glad I wasn't in my own little car. One of the hiking buddies advised that he once tried to get to the trailhead in his Dodge Caravan but got stuck in the sand and wrecked the transmission. Yikes! Once we got to the trailhead (obviously an adventure in and of itself), it was a steady 5-6 mile uphill climb to the summit. There are definitely some false Peaks to conquer along the way that are grueling physically and mentally; however, once you get to the last half mile or so, it's a fairly short scramble and totally doable. Once you get to the top, you are greeted by a fantastic view of West Valley, South Mountain, Four Peaks, the Supes, East Valley, and the vast desert to the southwest. The way down is easier on the cardio but harder on the knees due to loose rocks so watch your step and don't rush it. Your legs will probably be sore for the next day or two but it'll be accompanied by the feeling of accomplishment! I also recommend going with a group as I did. Strength and support in numbers people! Plus, you may meet someone new and make friends along the way! I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to hike Quartz Peak again, but now every time I look out to the west at it, the memories will never fade!
