I got out of the car, brought Rusty with me, and all I had to do was see the smile on Lizz'a face when she saw Rusty and I. Everything melted away. She took Rusty and I in the back where he smelled EVERYTHING. Lizz could tell I was relieved of any tenacious nerves that I had. We stayed in the back yard and her husband brought out their dog, Zajka. She was so great to my Rusty! I've never ever felt more comfortable and connected with dog people before. This was my first experience with a pet sitter and I really didn't know what to expect. But when I first met Melinda she had a very calm and very friendly demeanor Simba and Bear seemed very comfortable and relaxed with her. We went out of town for a week and Melinda came to stay with our Simba and Bear while we were away and everything went very well. To ease my nerves, she was kind enough to send me emails and text with pictures and let me know they were doing just fine.  Melinda is extremely reliable and trustworthy. She is also very accommodating with changes in schedule and always returned my phone calls promptly. I feel she truly cares about animals and is genuinely concerned about their well-being. One of our dogs suffered a life threatening spinal issue on a holiday weekend and even though Dr. Mian was away he was a step ahead mapping out our course of action and calling ahead to Tufts in Grafton, when we arrived, they were at the door with a stretcher and seen immediately. Our "Lexi" went on to live another seven years in excellent health. Without Dr. Mian we would have been lost and we would have lost our dog. We love this man, his ethics , his caring and support through all our needs and helping all of our dogs lead long and health lives. He was also kind enough to hand deliver to our home, the ashes of our last dog. Dr. Mian is irreplaceable you would have to search far and wide to find another man of his expertise and compassion.

Previous to then, we had always used kennels when traveling. At that time, our two dogs were young and healthy and emotionally balanced. We still weren't happy about boarding them, but we felt it was a safe option for them. We had had horrible experiences with different kennels -- including one that was located inside an animal hospital -- and we swore we would never board our pets again. We didn't know who we could trust to take care of our high maintenance dogs and to go in and out of our home several times a day. Who would do all of the things our aging pets needed, such as give them medicine, feed them their special diet, keep an eye on their health and so on. (One of our dogs was diagnosed with a slow growing cancer last September and the other is a dachshund that suffers from separation anxiety.) Well, we can't recommend Wendi, Michele and Naomi enough! In fact, all of the pet sitters they have sent us over the last three years have been so loving and caring. These sitters really love animals and you can tell from the notes they leave for us that they truly enjoy their work caring for the pets. ABW pet sitting is like finding a terrific babysitter where your comfort level is as high as it can go! I would trust them with anything!! We go away without fear now and when we return, our pets are exactly as they were when we left... they aren't anxious or upset in any way and they look great! ** During this most recent trip our lock wasn't working properly on the front door. Patty, the owner seemed lovely. I wasn't thrilled about the size of the crates 6x4, but figured we could do a trial run for 1 night before his actual stay. We agreed on a day and time for me to bring my cat and the day before she asked if I could come at 9:00am instead of 9:30am because she was heading out for 2 hours at 9:15!! WHAT?? She thought nothing of having me bring my cat who had never been there before, shove him in a crate and the leave right after he gets there for 2 hours? The whole point of me bringing him was for her to meet him, see how he does. When I asked if it might be better to bring him later that day when she would be around, she said no I'm having company!! Again WHAT?? How much attention and time was she planning on spending with my cat who would probably have been frightened as can be. I would NEVER bring my cat there and I'm so happy that I learned what she's truly all about beforehand. Looks can be deceiving!!

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and a 2nd chance. We first brought our 1 yr old puppy…read moreto try out daycare and then grooming. I was happy to see her on the video camera while in group play, but very sad to see the person sitting down the whole time, with a different dog on her lap and her cellphone in her hand. There was absolutely no human interaction, to a puppy who was trying to approach her and get some attention. That weekend she got groomed by Abigail who I will say is a fantastic groomer. HOWEVER, I specifically asked they give my dog the food and treats I provided bc the dog has a sensitive stomach. Had I not asked for the containers back, I would not have known that they didn't give her any of the food I provided. My dog had diarrhea for 3 days. I also noticed that she was limping and afraid of putting her harness on. The limping became progressively worse where she was unable to walk. Took her to the vet, she had a cut on top of paw and was put on antibiotics, a $500 vet bill. I called them to report it, was told they would get back to me, that perhaps they could help cover some of the vet cost, and of course, no one ever followed up. I understand things can happen, but I left countless messages. I wanted to speak to management to ensure that something like this would never happen again. So a few weeks ago, I decided to call and try to speak to the groomer before trying the place again. She assured me she would be extra careful with the paws. I requested they give my dog ONLY the food I would provide. And of course, when I picked her up, I asked for my containers and ALL THE FOOD and ALL THE TREATS I had packed were still in the containers!! If it were not for the location and the convenience when in a pinch, I would never set foot in this place again. They really don't Give. A. _____ about you or your pet.
