It was very hard carrying around those little trays of food. Other than that I had a good time and will be better prepared next year!

If you're a foodie this is for you! There is always so much food so come hungry!

We filled both buckets with mostly ripe delicious strawberries. The kids still need to refine their picking skills. We then got snow cones, brisket and sausage. The kids played and had cotton candy. This was an extremely fun 3 hour activity. I was surprised to find so many delicious ripe strawberries this late in the season. In the end we spent a little over $100. The snow cones were super delicious- actual shaved ice. There are amazing photo ops and I took beautiful pictures of my kiddos. There are several fun pockets and experiences on this farm and it's very kid friendly. As a mom, I'm always having heart attacks because kids love to do crazy stuff, but here I felt very relaxed. Next time I would have them wear mud boots (our tennis are caked with mud). The strawberry fields weren't extremely muddy, but there were pockets of mud out there. We are eating the strawberries and my toddlers are thrilled and proud because they collected them. I just need to get a jam recipe to make this day last a few months. Thank you to the staff that were so warm and friendly!

This is the second year we've come here in May to pick blueberries and blackberries. One of the…read moreworkers said that blueberry season is really a short 4-6 weeks time frame while blackberries are most of the summer. This year 2025, the blueberries are sweet but on the smaller side. The blackberries were not as good as some of them are tart or even sour as some seem to start fermenting? However in 2023 the blackberries were soooo sweet and juicy that even my husband liked them and he usually doesn't like blackberries. Maybe this year just wasn't good for blackberries. :/ The busket (basket bucket) is $1.50 and berries are usually $8-10 per lb but they ran a Memorial Day weekend promo for $4 a lb. We filled up our busket about 2/3 of the way for 2.7 lbs or $11 in blackberries and blueberries! Cheaper than Costco! Although it is a 45 min drive for us. Giant sunflowers were available too but all the wildflowers were picked already. Things to bring: Busket - if you already have one! Sunscreen - protect your skin! Hat - it's sunny! Water and a refill of water - it's HOT and you easily drink through 2 water bottles, plus if you use any to clean your pickings. neck towel / fan - nice to have I would also consider looking for a parking spot in the shade, usually to the left by the Farm Funland. I also put up our cars sunshade which helps too. This time, my 4 yo said her car seat wasn't that hot (whereas she will usually complain if it is), so i think jt worked! We only spent about 1.5 hours though from 1030-12noon, as it was getting really hot and the kiddo was over it. Overall, fun experience and some good berries but do come prepared for the heat!

Reason enough really but then I learned that if you volunteer you get free beer. Free beer?! I'm all in. After volunteering now three years in a row I've learned there is more to this than beer. We raise funds for needy organizations and have fun doing it. Wow. Back to the beer ... there are hundreds of different taps, bottles and cans of craft beer to be tasted. From the big names like Ballast Point, Dechutes, Shiner and Goose Island to the Houston favorites like Buffalo Bayou, 8th Wonder and Karbach. Most of the brewers have their pro staff nearby to tell you more about there brewing process and some of the subtleties of that blend which you may not pick up right away. Kinds of hops, barrel wood and water source aren't often written onto the can ya know!? Live music is played on two stages while people walk from booth to boot and sample. Other booths have t-shirts, mugs, and other fun stuff for sale. Many of the sponsors have booths set up with deals at venues like Top Golf, Remax and so forth. Food? The Kolache Fest is held at the Knight of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville., TX. It consists of games, arts and crafts booths, a classic car show, live polka music, dancing, a BBQ judging, food demos, a Biergarten and of course kolaches. The kolaches are provided by Kountry Bakery. As we drove past the restaurant itself we noticed how packed it was. After trying their kolaches at the festival, we can understand why it was so crowded. The kolaches are great. We wanted to try them all. Kolaches are sold at the festival by the half dozens and available in fruit varieties, cream cheese and as they call them, "pig" (sausage) with and without cheese and jalapeño. The events themselves are held at various times and offer something for everyone. Besides the above listed events there are many more - too many to list! We especially liked the food demos and the crocodile show as well as the classic cars. The live polka music and bands were talented and put on a lively, toe tapping show. Food items for sale are homemade by some very good bakers and benefit some well deserving organizations. Homemade sweets make any event that much better. There is lots of seating in a covered pavilion with huge ceiling fans that give relief from some of the heat. Hallettsville is a small town and this event has a big turnout so arriving early is the best way to ensure good parking although the lot is large. A trivia bit we learned is that it is the only town in the world with the name Hallettsville. It has the friendly, welcoming, small town type warmth that isn't always found within they city. Also, it gets pretty dusty so if your eyes are sensitive, I'd bring some eye drops. We went on a Friday night and thankfully it wasn't too packed. Parking was free and there was plenty of space in the lot. Getting out wasn't bad at all either. Like what other reviews have stated, the tickets are not cheap ($45 after tax). But I will say, the entire setup of the area is super cute and well decorated. Not only are there so many places for photo ops but there are also a ton of activities for kids. And honestly, even as an adult, my friends and I had a blast- just channel your inner child and go on those rides! There were mini rollercoasters, slides, petting zoos, a firework show, and so much more. Our time slot was 7-10 pm but honestly, I would try to get there earlier (i.e. 5 pm slot) especially if you purchased exclusive attractions (i.e. haunted house, corn maze, etc). With the general admuission tickets, you don't have access to the special attractions but you can purchase them at Dewberry farm- I believe it was $7.99 each. But if you're already set on going to numerous special attractions, just get the whole package online. My friends and I did the Trail of Terror and it took around 20 minutes to compelte and everything was well done! As for food, I know Dewberry Farm has the snack pack available for $15.99 and that covers kettlecorn, lemonade, a cookie, and a snowcone. And honestly, that's pretty worth it because a kettlecorn bag itself was 10.99- it was very yummy btw, my friends and I almost killed the whole bag in one sitting. Overall, my friends and I had a blast and we might make this an annual thing! I believe Dewberry farms also has a Christmas event so we might attend that as well.

I have been coming here for years. I mean decades. If you, your partner, your family, your friends…read moreare looking for something cool to do that you don't get to do everyday. You should come to TRF. At the very least, this is the largest Renaissance festival in the US if not elsewhere as well. I highly suggest getting in early because the lines to get in throughout the day get longer. This place can get pretty packed, both at the gate and in the food and drink lines. They have a ginormous parking lot, it's dirt and grass. And it can bottleneck quite a bit at the entry point. Once you're in, they have hundreds of stalls of food, merchant selling different things, people putting on different types of shows, be it skill, craft, or comedy/drama. There's plenty of activities. The park itself is sectioned off into different themed areas, both the food and activities follow suit. They have tons of shows around the different areas in addition to the Central stage where you can see the king, jousting, sword fighting and the whole lot. Highly suggest going to the restroom before you leave, because you will likely be stuck in some traffic on the way out and you don't want to hold it. Trust me. In the last couple years I've taken to camping on their campgrounds. This requires an extra pass for camping, in addition to your entry. If you do things in groups it costs a lot less with a discount. They have porta potties throughout the campgrounds, and also a brick and mortar shower and restroom at the front of the campgrounds. The campgrounds are separated into two areas, the family the zone, which is closer to the main gate, and the non-family zone which is a mixed bag depending on what weekend you go closer to the festival area. This place gets pretty rowdy, and they are up late. If you intend to camp, this is the social area where a lot of things go. If you want a more relaxed, in civil area, stick to the family zone ( I don't). Highly recommend arriving early on the Friday before you're going in, as the camping area is first come first serve. We go in a pretty big group so we try to stake out enough space for all of our people. It's quite an experience, we really enjoy all of the people working there in character. They do a great job, and make it a great experience! Whether you're there with the family out for drinking or interested in shows and merchandise, there's something for everybody here. And the amount of different kinds of food is crazy.
