Tired, cluttered salon in an old house. That's kind of a trend in old towns like Winchester, but…read morethis one is especially unkempt and messy. I made my appointment about three weeks ahead, and after arriving 15 minutes early, I waited and waited and waited to be called to the chair. Instead, after about 45 minutes, I was told that they were sorry, but my stylist's current client was taking much longer than anticipated and I'd have to reschedule. After reading many of Lox's reviews, this seems to be a common occurrence. I've been getting my hair cut regularly for decades and have never, ever had a stylist tell me "sorry, you'll have to come back" because of THEIR inability to manage a schedule.

An Asian gentleman approached me and asked if I had an appointment. After telling him I didn't he walked into the back and brought out a female Asian technician by the name of Emily. Following her to the room where pedicures are performed I couldn't help but notice how orderly and clean the entire salon was. They have very nice, actually luxurious chairs that do everything but talk to you. All the fixtures are beautiful and a whole wall waterfall relaxes the clientele as they are enjoying their treatment. Emily was professional and a very nice young lady. She offered me a drink and activated the chair for me. I was offered the upgrade to a normal pedicure which I declined but now wish I had taken advantage of after reading other reviews. Emily was very gentle and I was extremely pleased with the experience. As one of the other reviewers reported, this salon is sterile and the employees are practicing safe handling of the tools they use. You are assigned a box which only contain what is used on you. They write your name and part of your telephone number in the box and it is stored until your next visit. Not that it has anything to do with the service but I would be remiss without mentioning that every staff member I saw were nicely dressed and groomed. I couldn't help but notice there was one woman who walked past me as I was enjoying my experience that absolutely looked like a runway model. Long black hair, tiny little waist, taller than most Asian women, with one hell of a chest. She was dressed in all black and was just simply one of the most attractive Asian women I think that I have ever seen. If for no other reason I would return just to see her again. I gave a $15.00 gratuity which I hope was appropriate for the $35.00 service fee. I have been to like businesses over the years, some of which I would never return to because of its appearance or smell. This salon is going to be patronized by me in the future once a month. I would recommend!

I have always enjoyed getting my eyebrows done here and would constantly boast about this business and their talent in their field. I only get my eyebrows done about four times a year. I always pay $20 on their $11 eyebrow service, and leave the change for a tip. I went in last night and asked to have my eyebrows cleaned up as I have always done. When she gave me the mirror she turned away and didn't even look me in the eye. I figured, "Hey, I come here all the time, these people are professionals, they always do me right." No....the lady that had serviced my eyebrows had left them at different lengths, different curvature in the arches, and an extra sharp tail on one side and not the other. It hurts to have a business that you have trusted for so long with your cosmetic care to intentionally cause for humility and embarrassment in your life. Of course hair grows back but it's ridiculous that I would even have to deal with this issue with people who claim to be professionals, when they are clearly not. When I was in the chair the women doing my eyebrows proceeded to ask me if I wanted my mustache threaded, I said no bc I have only peach fuz and it isn't noticeable in that area, then after she finished my eyebrows she asked again and I said no for the 2nd time, I was a bit annoyed by this because they asked me twice after I said no once, when I got back to my car I saw my left eyebrow was cut from the threading and drew blood and left a scab and she never told me about it in the shop that she had cut me, I have never had a bad experience before this and I will not be returning because I feel it is unacceptable to cut a client and not tell them.

Unfortunately, I could not hear the woman's name. I went to the salon today and asked to speak with a manager, and actually met with the owner (Mr. Carmen- apologies if that is not the correct spelling). He listened to my tale and asked if I could wait 10 or 15 minutes and he would have one of his stylists fix the issue. That stylist ended up being a wonderful man named Jesse Z. He was able to diagnose my issue immediately and assured me that bobs are his specialty. He was not lying. He was able to make my hair look great. But Salon Alure did not just simply have someone fix the problem. When I was checking out...they not only did not charge me for today's fix (which I expected)...they gave me a gift certificate for my next visit as well. I certainly did not ask for that, nor was I expecting it. I must say I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative. I know everyone has a bad day now and then, Lord knows I have had my share. But my experience today with Salon Alure has renewed my faith and I look forward to my next appointment with Jesse. THANK YOU Carmen and staff for taking my concern seriously and going above and beyond to remedy it. I am most grateful. NCR
