Victoria Park is most accessible from Gregory Terrace and is a great park to pass through if you're cycling, rollerblading, or jogging. It's also a hot spot for people after a work out, and pet owners looking for a dog-friendly and safe park.
Exercise.
There are long pathways stretched across both level ground and hills for those after a solid work out, regardless of whether you're running or cycling. For those looking to build muscle tone, there are public gym sets available throughout the park, e.g. for push ups, chin ups, etc. If you're after group sports, Victoria Park also wraps around the Gregory Terrace tennis courts, the Grammar school basketball courts, and Centenary pool. A warning for female exercisers: don't pass through here at night because there was a case a few years ago where a woman was attacked. But if you swing by in the day time it's a safe zone.
Leisure.
There's a massive, fenced dog park in Victoria Park that sprawls across a well kept lawn. It could easily fit up to ten dogs and their owners, and is a large contained space in which to let even the most hyperactive dog off their leash. If you've come with young kids, the park just unveiled a fully refurbished playground area earlier this year. It's more of a climbing, jungle-gym set up, and sturdy enough for adults to join in on the fun. There are also large, thick-branched trees for climbing if you're feeling nostalgic. read more
