This is one of Brisbane's iconic and historical parks. Not only does is have the heritage listed Newstead House on it's grounds, it is also an idyllic park to hold a beautiful garden wedding.
I have been here recently for a garden wedding held under the pergola on the tip of this park, which overlooks the Brisbane River. It was a beautiful setting for a beautiful wedding. Irreplaceable old trees dating back from the early 19th century fill the park. The oldest tree in this park, is a fig tree which is also affectionally known as the 'talking tree'. It is located in the centre of the big round about and is dated to be 200 years old, it is well looked after, which is why it is still standing today.
You will find plenty of park benches which line the banks of the Brisbane River, so you can observe all the activities that take place on weekend. You will find tables to enjoy picnics and there are plenty of people who go for runs through this wonderful park. This park is an important part of Brisbanes history. It is one to bring the family to and enjoy the best of Brisbane's historic sites. read more
