They have some drinks that are 20% for this month so with it being a hot, sunny day I picked up one of those drinks to bring home. This time I also picked up something else that wasn't a Sun Tea bubble tea drink. I bought a small box with a tiramisu cake inside. In typical Asian fashion, it was "not too sweet." Still sweet enough though to be enjoyable and met with our teenage daughter's approval. They have some lovely looking cakes that you can pre-order. I like that there's a huge poster here, advertising the cakes with their sizes and prices. I don't see that at the bakery sections of other Asian supermarkets, so if I were to order a cake from an Asian supermarket, I'd probably be most inclined to order it from Sungiven Foods. They do actually sell some nice things at this supermarket besides Bubble tea and sweets that I'd consider buying. This place is just a bit out of the way for us, and I think by the time we get here, we've often already bought what we need from other places. I do have my eye on their Onigiri though. I would definitely like to try that sometime. I saw a good sale on avocadoes here but like I said, we have often managed to buy what we need already and that is the case with the avocadoes right now, as we've already got several avocadoes in our fridge at home. One thing I do like about Sungiven Foods is that they have a good selection of frozen vegetarian dim sum items that other places don't usually have. When we've cleared up some room in the freezer at home, perhaps I will buy some frozen foods from Sungiven Foods to put into our freezer!

They have a large parking lot with tons of parking. In addition there is some side street parking but I don't think that would be necessary. The store has a large selection of ethnic produce. I was able to find shisito peppers which are very difficult to find in grocery stores in the neighbourhood. Also, the pricing on majority of the produce was fairly affordable. The zucchini's were .69/lb whereas Save On Foods sells them for $1.99/lb. You can also find specialty meats, a hot bar (with buns, noodles, soups, etc.), a dessert case, cleaning and baby items. The only part of my experience here was the slow checkout/cashiers. But, since this was opening day it looks like they were just trying to figure it all out as they were giving away free gifts with purchase.

Ambiance is bright and spacious but its service is mediocre. So my favorite T&T locations have super dedicated managers and very helpful staff that are willing to go the extra mile even when busy. This spot is not my least favorite location and there are some helpful senior staff but they also have some staff here that would actually answer your questions with "I don't know" or "dunno, hmm, can you ask the other staff..." as if that's an acceptable service expectation at T&T...Tina would not be pleased. Food-wise, their sushi section is usually well stocked and their uni sashimi is quite fresh when they do carry uni. Though i should note that their uni sashimi are priced higher than Sungiven. The dessert and pastries section here are decent where you can find a whole cake for special occasions and pretty looking desserts and their hot foods section could consider adding more variety to its menu. Regardless of its store name, it is a solid supermarket, well stocked with Asian products including quality T&T branded snacks, korean beauty brands plus fresh fruits and plenty of food varieties.

I'm from the Bay Area and we have our fair share of Japanese grocery stores (shout out to Niiya in Japantown in San Francisco) but I was very excited to see the selection here. Definitely came across items I've never seen before like a Takoyaki flavored Ramune. It was extremely discounted just fyi probably for good reason. They even had Japanese canned drinks stored hot like in Japan! The take away Japanese desserts also looked good. This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience. Checkout was quick and easy!

It sounds crowded - and it is - but once you push your way to the back of the store, you'll find a tiny Japan tour travel agency and a shelf of clearance items at rock-bottom prices. Service is cheerful, personable and brisk. The store also houses a takeaway crepe and ice cream shop - the crepes are actually better than the ones I've had in Tokyo.

Purely off the ready-to-eat food we had, I would 100% come again if I'm in the area…read more At 6pm on a Friday night, the last hour of opening, the offerings had understandably dwindled. However, there were still many options, at least 15+ aburi sushi and assorted sushi boxes, as well as 5 or so sashimi boxes. Prices for prepared foods are just a tiny bit above average, but the items we chose were fresh and very tasty, making them well worth the price. We picked up : * aburi salmon 6pc ($15) --- Solid for the price. A good, average aburi that's comparable to what you'd get at a restaurant. * hamachi sashimi 4pc med-fatty ($16) --- Comparable in both price and freshness to a sit-down spot. Great cuts. * warabi mochi ($6.50) --- not sure how they transport these or if they were ever frozen, but it honestly didn't matter. The texture was soft and chewy, nearly on par with the fresh warabi mochi I've had in Japan. If you're a warabi mochi fan, I'd definitely recommend picking one up. * hamachi collar $9.50 --- Pleasantly surprised to find such a decent meaty portion for under $10. The marbling looked incredible when we first saw it. Felt like a mythic find, although I'm not one who goes out of my way to find fish collars. We baked and broiled it for a delicious dinner :) For some quality fish in those boxes, I'd pay the slight premium for Aburi market's sushi/sashimi options over the average grocery store any day.
