Oh man, I wish we have an Aburi Market where we live.... but oh well. We were like two little kids in a candy shop and want to try everything. We ended up trying a mixed sushi box, some yellowtail sashimi, a couple of onigiri (wagyu & salmon), and a scoop each of lychee and yuzu ice cream. We took are collection of loots and sat outside in the mild mid-day weather to enjoy our little lunch. Everything tasted so good (given they are like a take-it-&-go type meal. We wish we could try more things including the wonderful looking wagyu beef displayed in the cooler. Maybe next time. read more

Pricy but very high quality Japanese (Hokkaido themed) market by Ambleside area. Came here to see what the hype was all about. Parking is available in the lot beneath the building, as well as on the streets. The place is run by the same company that operate Miku and Minami (high end Japanese dining in Downtown Vancouver), so the bar was already set high. Yes, the stuff is pricey, but it sure is delicious. With a lightened wallet I sampled their sushi and rolls, chicken karaage, and deep fried oysters. The food is prepared very meticulously. That Japanese touch is there. Everything was super tasty. The only strange thing is that the seating area in the corner has a tank of hot water but no tea. Tea is an extra charge here. I could not resist a peek inside this authentic Japanese Washoku and a few purchases along the way. This elevated market carries fresh sushi, onigiri, premium sashimi, wagyu steak from the Iwate Prefecture of Japan - ribeye, striploin, sukiyaki or yakuniku cuts - and an aisle dedicated to imported snacks, sweets and desserts. They have marvellous ready to eat ramen meal kits, Gyoza Bar bentos, salads and Shojin vegan plant-based Japanese meal options. Literally had to peel myself away from their sashimi on display and the Arita-Yaki plateware. I came here with my Yelper friend C. Aburi Market is owned by the same owner as Miku. It is a Japanese market that sells high quality food and snacks. We picked up dinner here. There is one big table and a microwave for you to heat up the food. I also picked up some Japanese snacks and goodies. The service was great here. I wanted fresh fried oyster and the staff was very helpful and willing to fry fresh ones for me. I got chicken teriyaki, fried oyster and a lemon drink. Everything was tasty. Everything was made fresh on the day. They have high quality cut meat as well. If you come on a Wednesday, there are discounts on meat. I love this place! I walked past it whenever I was in the area on Sunday but it was closed on Sunday then. But they are finally open on Sundays. Aburi Market is by the same management of Miku and Minami, so you know you will be getting quality products here. It is not a big place but it has a bit of everything. From fresh wagyu and fish to the condiments and drinks and cultural items. The highlight for me is the ready to eat section. It has all the Japanese dishes I love. Sashimi, chirashi, sushi, the fried stuff, the rice, sando, appetizer stuff and more. I decided to try the fried oyster sandwich and the basic chirashi. Both were delicious! You could eat by the beach or park or even by the little patio right outside. There is also a microwave by the cashiers to heat up food if needed. Situated right next to Ambleside Park, this is the perfect place to grab a meal if you're visiting the beach, especially on a sunny day! More of a grab and go concept as well as a Japanese market, Aburi Market had plenty of choices including an assortment of sushi rolls, bento boxes, sashimi and some appetizers as well. We noticed that you could order the sushi items from the kitchen so we got the bluefin trio, yale town sushi set and the mini bara charashi. The food took a little while to be made but I could see that they put a lot of care and effort into constructing the rolls. Int the end, the wait was worth it because each roll had a perfect vinegar to sugar ratio, was not packed too tightly and was not mushy at all. My favourite of the rolls was the Bluefin with Pickled Radish although the bluefin with shiso was a close second. The Yaletown combo had a little bit of all their most popular including aburi salmon and shrimp, the red wave roll and a california roll. The aburi is famous for a reason but the red wave roll was my favourite of this dish. The Chirashi was not topped with too much (mini for a reason) but the rice was exceptional. The minimal ingredients on top let the simplicity of the dish shine. We went with the Chicken Karaage Bento and felt that it was a wonderful choice. Although coming from the fridge, it was nothing a 2 minute heat up couldn't handle. The assortment of side dishes is what made it so good with some light bites of seaweed, candied sweet potatoes, carrots and gomae. The chicken itself was juicy and well seasoned. This bento was also a GREAT price! Overall, a great place to stop by for a high quality grab and go meal. Too bad its so far away but just another reason to visit the beautiful park nearby! read more

The deli food is so good here. It's like a grab and go place where they had delicious potstickers, fried chicken, fried oysters, sushi and much more. We got a selection of food and it was all very fresh and delicious. The people working here were really helpful. The store wasn't too crowded and nicely set up. I was worried the to-go aspect of aburi would affect the quality however I was pleasantly surprised by its deliciousness. The rice was the stand out part as any sushi connoisseur knows its all about the rice. Well seasoned, well compressed so it's not falling apart when you pick it up each grain of rice is still visible and not mushed together. It's a good thing the rice was so good or I'd complain about the thinness of the fish on top. I've been hooked on Wagyu for a few years now and finding this place has changed my life. I used to have to go to Richmond for my previous Japanese butcher but this place in West Vancouver is so so much better in all respects. The prices are about 25% less because they buy the entire cow. This also makes the selection of A5 cuts so much greater. The sushi is next level. I would never pick up sushi from a restaurant again when I can get it here. I'm in the shop at least twice a week and I can't see that stopping anytime soon. read more
