Chirashi bowl was SO fresh and affordable
    Christine L.

If you're from the US visiting Canada and looking for sushi, I don't know that there's anything better. The chirashi bowl was INCREDIBLE for around $25, I don't know that there's any better price sushi for the quality. It's a small little place, mostly meant of takeout with a table in front. Card only. So good!

This little sushi spot/mini-mart was awesome! They serve pre-packaged rolls, sashimi, etc. but you can ask for them to make it fresh for you like I did. I ordered the chirashi, which had lots of different sashimi/other foods including salmon, tunas, scallop, tamago, ikura, octopus, and more. I loved how fresh the fish was, the quick service, and the price (only $15.95CAD for a good portion and quality fish)! They also sell Japanese goods and snacks, so it really is a one-stop-shop. While there is no seating except a small bench out front, it is totally worth stopping by for quick, high-quality, to-go sushi!

Definitely a hidden gem - they have the freshest fish! I got the chirashi bowl and it was extremely worth it - so so fresh and tons of variety. Will definitely try sashimi and some rolls next time

I only ordered a nigiri combo but every piece was so fresh and tasty. I was going to get the chirashi bowl but that piece of uni nigiri caught my eye and it was so satisfying to eat. Because the sushi was refrigerated when I picked it up, it was kind of cold when I ate it. I'm not patient but I recommend letting it warm up for a little first. I wish there were some tables as it was hard to eat. We were lucky there was an empty bench as there were only two available. I hope I can visit again soon to try their other sushi options.

This small convenience store packs in so many goodies. The nigiri is a fresh, melts in your mouth, and its quick. You get a lot for $31! The service is quick.

Remains a great spot for sushi and Japanese ingredients and goodies. I got their nigiri special for $15 - it was so good! The fish and uni were particularly fresh and the rice had a good texture.

Beautiful, high quality, authentic sushi. We ordered takeout for Mother's day and Sashimiya was able to accommodate our lunchtime order for a party tray + 2 chirashi bowls by calling an hour in advance. The fish and rice texture were comparable to the sushi I had at Tetsu Sushi Bar! Each nigiri had the wasabi/yuzu/extra toppings incorporated according to the taste of each fish, like they do in traditional Japanese restaurants. My favourite out of the tray was definitely the aburi. Smoky flavour and melt in your mouth texture with the rice.

This is a great grab and go sushi and sashimi establishment with a small grocery store of Japanese food products and a fridge full of an amazing selection of sashimi grade fish. One can order from the menu or pick up one of the pre-made rolls. The staff are incredibly friendly and greet everyone like family when one walks in. I tried the first four items on the menu. The presentation and taste of all were excellent and I quite enjoyed the Salmon Aburi Roll. It was a positive food experience and happy to recommend Sashimiya if in the 'hood and looking for take out sushi.

Very good chirashi at a very reasonable price point too! The ginger and wasabi were excellent too -- that's how you know a place serving japanese is OG I did kind of wish that the rice is warmer.. it was kind of cold. All of the sashimi fish tasted very fresh. The shrimp was sweet too! Amazing! There's a bench outside that you can sit on if you want to eat your chirashi immediately.

    The food!

Cute Japanese convenience store that sells snacks, instant ramen noodle bowls, fresh sashimi, and sushi. There are convenient grab-and-go rolls and sashimi platters, or you can order upfront to place your order to be made fresh. I got a fresh salmon aburi roll with avocado on the inside and seared salmon on top. Unlike a lot of restaurants, this place doesn't drench the aburi in sauce. Instead, it is a subtle roll that still has great flavour. For $9.75, this roll doesn't break the bank and is a more affordable aburi option that local sushi restaurants nearby. I also grabbed the chirachi don and was super impressed with the amount of fresh sashimi you get for $15.95. For the same amount of sashimi and similar quality, this is easily a $30+ chirachi don at a restaurant. Convenient, clean, fresh, and well-priced Japanese sashimi and sushi that's a bit of a hidden neighbourhood gem. Highly recommend you check them out - I will definitely be visiting back and often!

I was visiting Vancouver for a weekend trip and heard that this takeout sushi/sashimi place is an absolute delight, especially for a sashimi lover like me. On the first day, we got a medium platter, which included 7 different types of sashimi. Everything tasted extremely fresh and satisfied my desperate craving for quality sashimi, all for $36 CAD. I don't quite know what everything is, but salmon is my go to and was definitely my favorite. The fish on the bottom left and bottom right of my picture surprised me to be my second and third favorites (I think one of them is mackerel?). My first experience ended up being so good that I had to get a second helping. The next day, I helped myself to a full serving of just salmon for ~$20 CAD. I honestly wish I could've gotten another serving but was just too full from my other food adventures so had to call it a wrap with that serving. Would definitely recommend this place for any sushi or sashimi cravings. This place is also a convenient store for a lot of Asian products so please support them in that way!

No regrets! This roll costs 27.5$ (before tax) and I would gladly buy it time and time again! This was an experience in itself - the presentation was eye catching and the first bite confirmed my suspicion - best sushi ever! Even though there are a few Ingredients in this roll, everything paired so well together not to mention that every single ingredient was so fresh! A few cool things about this shop: it's also a Japanese convenience store (lots of Japanese snacks and ingredients) and you can buy fresh cut of fish and they will prepare it anyway you like from sashimi to handroll to nigiri style. I also got a green tea mochi and it was soft, chewy with lots of stuffing. If you can't pick a sushi place to try in Vancouver, make sure you put this at the top of the list because it will exceed your expectations!

I'm from the Bay Area and we have our fair share of Japanese grocery stores (shout out to Niiya in Japantown in San Francisco) but I was very excited to see the selection here. They even had Japanese canned drinks stored hot like in Japan! The take away Japanese desserts also looked good. This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience.
