And the pasta was firm and doughy, soft and smooth, eggy and floury. It just tastes so, fresh and artisanal. It's gorgeous. Appetizers options are quite filling. We tried the rice balls (risotto balls) and they were okay. Tiramisu. Yes. Get it. Listen to your inner voice. You won't regret it. My only complain is the hardware of the restaurant. The layout and design is great. But what's up with the plates. Please invest some money in the plates and dishes. Everything is plain white square or a bowl. Give justice to the food it deserves. Get a basket for the bread, and small plate for oil. Don't let my angry rant about plates deters you though. Go get your pasta now! read more

Last evening before heading to the airport we stumbled upon this little gem in the strip mall. Was quiet when we arrived just after 530PM so seating us was not much of a problem. 5 Of us hit the high top as Kayla our server took care of us. Just soft drinks tonight as we have some appetizers & pizza before entrees: Fried Calamari was fresh not frozen, and the dipping sauce was ok. Fried Mozzarella was again fresh cut not frozen same dipping sauce as calamari, but this was simply OK. The Meatballs with Ricotta to be honest shocked me as they were excellent. We tried the Grandmas Pie which was cheese fresh tomato sauce drizzled olive oil made square with fresh basil. I little too much basil and the crust was a little soft but all and all a very different presentation on the square pizza. Entrees were 3: A veal francaise with roasted potatoes & String beans. Honestly shocked how good it was, great sauce and veal was tender. Veal Parm - was not as good as the francaise but still pretty decent considering the location. The Carbonara was really very good, with lots of bacon and just enough cream without turning into alfredo. Skipped coffee & Deserts as stated Kayla was great and I doubt we will be back in this next of the woods in the future but for those who live in the area impressive. read more

We ate the spaghetti carbonara, lasagna, tiramisu, and a cannoli. The lasagna and cannoli were amazing. The tiramisu was really good, just a bit lighter than we prefer. I'd never had carbonara before and it was good, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the red sauce in the lasagna. That's just a personal preference though. We ate at an odd time so there was no one else there and no wait. Our server was attentive and we received our food in a reasonable amount of time. I went during the recent Triangle Restaurant Week and was pleasantly surprised. The menu has many great looking options but decided to stay with Prix Fixe menu. I assumed portions would be small due to promo. Wrong! I got the Arancini and my wife the burrata salad both delicious! She tried the lasagna and I had the eggplant parm. Eggplant came with pasta and was a huge portion. The sauce was perfect. The lasagna was bit salty but again and a big portion. We got the chocolate cheesecake and cannoli to go we were stuffed! We have been wanting to try Vici for awhile since we drive by it often (where Tre Forni used to be). Upon walking in, I will admit the interior and decor is kind of underwhelming. It doesn't quite fit the vibe I would have expected from the menu, prices, and reviews. It's a bit dark, sparse, and for awhile I thought the floors were dirty but I think upon walking out I learned it was just the design. There's some nice art on the walls. The casual atmosphere though does make it a good place for families (if you have kids), and they also have plenty of outdoor tables. We were served bread and olive oil to start and they have a decent drink menu. The bread and seasoned oil were great. The server was also friendly. We ordered a vegetarian pizza and the fettuccine Alfredo. Based on the food alone, this place definitely deserves 4-5 stars. Many/most of their pastas are made fresh in-house, and you can taste the difference. I don't know if I've tasted better fettuccine Alfredo! The pizza ingredients were also very fresh and light, reminding me of pizza I've had in Italy. For dessert we ordered the lemon ricotta cheesecake, which tasted really good, but the texture was really odd - very clumpy, like maybe it wasn't properly blended and they were clumps of cream cheese? Or there was curdling. I was disappointed but my husband didn't mind as much and finished it up. The presentation was also lacking, but our meal itself was so good, I can overlook that. We heard of Vici's opening and could not wait to give it a try! Vici is owned by the Cinelli family, who also own Vivo in Raleigh (I've reviewed and love!) as well as Vieni in Cary. Given the reputation of the family restaurants and my own experience, I had a hunch Vici would live up to the hype. That it did! I was especially excited to see a few familiar entreés on the menu. My new favorite Italian restaurant in the triangle. Tucked away in a small shopping center less this hidden gem of a find that does outstanding pasta dishes. Their bolognese with gnocchi, braised short ribs with paparedelle and spaghetti Carbonara had some of the most outstanding flavors I've had on Italian pasta in awhile. Of particular note was their fantastically flavored sauce in their bolognese with gnocchi which was out of this world. We grabbed a slice of coffee tiramisu and it was heavenly in terms of how soft and tasty it was. Really good. Pasta was fresh & honestly that puts it in front of even the tastiest Italian places, BUT it was even really good. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and buoyed by the excellent reviews, I finally did. I don't eat pizza very often because there's so many more interesting things to eat, but since it's been several years, I decided to take the plunge and I'm glad I did. You can choose if you want your crust cooked to crispy or if you like it softer which was what I picked. It was maybe a little softer than I expected but very, very good. I rarely eat the crust of pizzas but I did this time. I loved how generous they were with the mozzarella compared to others I've had that just look like they had been scattered on. I might consider eating pizza more often! I also tried the Carbonara dish which is my favorite pasta to prepare. It's very hard to find a restaurant that will actually use eggs and guanciale instead of Alfredo sauce and bacon which is not really carbonara in the true sense. They do offer that choice if you prefer though. It was not as good as mine but I enjoyed it though the pasta was a little too Al dente than I normally like. But kudos to them for ordering the dish that other places shy away from. Overall, excellent food and I'd definitely eat here again! read more

My husband, daughter, and I dined at this restaurant two weeks ago. I had a salad with pears and nuts; we all shared garlic cheese bread; and my husband and child shared spaghetti. The food and service were good. HOWEVER, that evening, my husband and child both started feeling nauseous. By 6am the next morning, they both were violently ill. They were throwing up more than they ever have in the past. For the next two days, they spent much of the time in the bathroom, sick and miserable. We were staying with family members who are doctors. They indicated that, based on the timing of when my husband and child got sick, they believe it was food poisoning -- likely from staph bacteria, which would be as a result of unsanitary hygiene/kitchen practices. It could also be possible that the spaghetti and/or the sauce were left out too long or not kept at the proper temperature, which would allow for illness-causing bacteria to grow. I guess we'll never know for sure. But the only food they ate, that the rest of us didn't eat, was the spaghetti from Vici -- so we know this is what caused them to become so sick. Two days later, I called the restaurant and spoke with the server who had waited on us. He indicated that he was also the manager. He was apologetic and said he'd let the chef know. I had to be the one to ask for a refund, and he said he could only refund part of our bill. At least it was enough to cover their spaghetti. But I would strongly recommend AVOIDING this restaurant. While the food tasted good, it was not worth it for how sick my husband and child became after eating there. read more

Was excited to try this place based on reviews. Was a little disappointed. First of all, it was very loud inside - acoustics are awful - was hard to even talk amongst our 6 people in a booth. One person had to leave early because of sensory overload. Items had at the table included: Carbonara - was not very good. Very dry - hardly any sauce or pancetta. The pasta is homemade, but was a bit too hard and chewy for my liking. Arancini - pretty good - doesn't seem like used risotto like most arancini - so wasn't really creamy and good like most - just normal rice Cauliflower pizza - was okay Stromboli - was pretty good Service was ok - took a long time to get arancini appetizer - kept coming by saying did you get the rice balls yet - I would say no. Took a long time to get the bill and to come back with the credit cards after run. Their was a major mix up on giving change for cash and no one knew what was going on. I had a casual dinner with my wife at this restaurant last week. She had heard good things about it. I was not impressed. Although we had a reservation, the hostess ignored our request to sit in a small booth. Her refusal was strange. She pretended my wife was asking about the back room, which was a private room, and said, "That is private." We eventually had a table in the middle of the room. The waiter tried to be friendly and ceremonial. She did not mention anything about the bread they served. My wife ordered two appetizers for us. They were both disappointing. One was garlic bread, a big blubber of cheese on stale bread. I took off some of the blub of bread and ate it; I did not see or taste any garlic; it was some cheesy bread. Meanwhile, the waiter brought the complimentary bread and a small bowl of maybe "olive oil." The bread was stale and covered with a layer of salt. The second appetizer was artichoke leaves, so heated in hot cheese that nothing was left; it was like some mushy green thing. The spaghetti with meatballs looked good, but the sauce was watery. My wife had cavatelli with shrimp. It looked good, and she was happy with the ten shrimp. It is an overpriced cafe, given the food quality and atmosphere. read more

This is an American Italian place with nice ambience, friendly service, and many choices of pasta and pizza. If you like a lot of calories packed into comfort food you'll be happy. If you look for value with high quality fresh ingredients this is not the place to go. The dipping oil for bread is flavorless and its origin is hard to determine: olive oil? maybe, but not extra virgin and not fresh. The sausage on the pizza is ground meat with predictable spice. The dishes rely on large amounts of cheese and cream for flavor. When you add chicken to your dish for (yes, $9 extra on top of $17 for the base pasta base) you get a soft texture serving of white protein but it is very hard to figure out what part of the chicken you are actually eating. Again, it's a likable place and their tomato sauce is very tasty, however the bottom line is that it is way overpriced for the food it is serving. read more

We've been dining at Vici's since they opened about a year ago. The only thing I don't care for is their salad. The salads don't taste freshly prepared but seem that they're from a bag of greens with preservatives. We love the margarita pizza and the chicken francese is a favorite ( I usually request they go light on the garlic)They have nice sized portions. We have consistently gotten good service although we prefer not to dine on Friday and Saturday evenings, when there's more of a crowd. read more

This place popped up on my Yelp a few times so we decided to give it a try. And I'm glad we did! We ordered the meatballs to start. It's comes with two massive meatballs! Yum. For our entree I got the the penne vodka. Super delicious. My fiancé got the carbonara and loved it. The portions are very generous! I had enough for another meal the next day!
