Coming back to Vaughan always feels like a homecoming and whenever I am in the area, I try to eat at smaller deli counters as I don't get it (not the same quality) where I live. We had three sandwiches; porchetta, steak and chicken parm with various toppings. All the sandwiches were out of this world good. Porchetta was well seasoned and juicy, the steak was tender and smokey and the chicken parm wore a beautiful coat of tasty tomato sauce. He didn't just recommend it, he practically insisted I try it. Vicentina's one of the popular meat shops in the city. I first heard about it when an Italian friend brought out a skewer grill and made us some fine lamb spiedini (speducci). It was as I remembered it from the Taste of Little Italy, and I've frequented here since for their spiedini boxes. But Vicentina is more than just a meat shop, it's also known for porchetta roast and its panino/sandwich bar. I recall their fresh porchetta sandwich was decent yet it turns out their grilled steak sandwich is even more delicious. The process is simple: just make your order (meat, bread, toppings), wait for your number to be called, and then go up to the grill counter to wrap and collect your meal. Prices have increased slightly but within the soft kaiser buns was a good portion of sliced steak - fresh, succulent, tender and very well-flavoured. I'm already looking forward to trying it again next time. Their panino bar does get crowded for lunch but many people just take out their sandwiches. Very disappointing. This place used to be great... Used to be the best steak sandwich around, but not anymore. I get it that costs have gone up, so I expected a price increase from last year. I've been away and now that I'm back I stopped in for a great steak sandwich. Price is now up to $20.89 for a sandwich and a can if diet coke. My sandwich has half the meat it used to have... They charge $1.50 for each topping ($4.50 for onions, mushrooms and sweet peppers) but I could barely find any toppings on the sandwich. Maybe 3 or 4 mushroom pieces, a couple of small pepper slices and almost no onion at all. Total rip off. Feeling very scammed... I won't be coming back for again. read more

As the reviews called, the service is supposedly hit or miss. My visit must have been a miss. I strolled in one evening looking to grab a quick dinner. The place was nearly deserted; only 2 other diners were in at the time. I walked to the back, where they have their hot food section. A disinterested man took my order, scoffing at my questions. All I wanted to know was what their specialty was, and what kind of vegetables were in the grilled vegetable topping - but he seemed annoyed with this. I settled on the porchetta, which seemed to have been sitting in a foil wrapped metal bowl all day. When I saw this, I was a bit worried as the meat would've surely been dry by then. To my surprise, my sandwich was actually quite tasty and the meat was still juicy. This is a meat lovers paradise! Try the steak sandwich, if you love beef, you will not be sorry. The bae got a giant sandwich with hot peppers, mushrooms, and cheese and a side of red sauce to dip, it was delicious. The meat was very juicy and flavourful, on a super soft, freshly baked ciabatta bun. I ordered the Italian garden salad with grilled chicken on the side and it was very fresh and tasty! I look forward to trying the porchetta when we return ;) They have a butchery section where you can purchase the same meats they grill for the sandwiches along with fresh grilled veggies. Great selection of various cured meats and cheeses. Would be a perfect place to stop for unique Italian groceries for a house party or for a hostess gift. Loved the sections of prepared foods, condiments, olives, and dried pastas around the store. Picked up a few unique stocking stuffers for some family, including Nutella stuffed Italian wafer cookies, a delicious looking hot sauce cream, and a cute pack of sesame honey cookies. YUM! [ Porchetta bout it - get the roask pork sandwich ] This Italian market and cafe is seemingly randomly located in an industrial/commercial area, but it's actually justified thanks to its large meat processing outfit at the back. What this place is known for is their porchetta, aka Italian roast pork. For the Chinese roast pork fans, porchetta is more like the long strands of pork you get with "pulled pork" sandwiches and the skin is very crunchy but not really edible unlike its east Asian sibling. The pork is moist and naturally flavorful, with a slight herb taste, as there's no real "sauce" to speak of. At the very front, you can order porchetta by the pound and they wrap it up in paper or you can go toward the back and get a sandwich from the cafe. The sandwich is served either with a round or long bun. I have yet to empirically test which bun choice gives you more meat, but it's on my to do list. I believe there are toppings options such as those offered at other Italian sandwich places. The meat is good enough naked, but is still somehow boring.......funny, I think an ex actually used this as a break-up line - sad face. Vincentia is a panino & espresso bar, butcher and imported Italian food store all in one. Their delli section boasts a decent range of artisanal cured meats and cured sausages made in house. The panino selection is more modest. All the toppings have an additional $0.50 surcharge. As good as their steak panino was, I should have probably gone with the porchetta seeing as it is their signature sandwich. I will seriously consider their 10 lb porchetta roast for $100 when I'm expecting 20 people or so. As for the rest of their offerings, this is one serious meat retailer with a variety of fresh and frozen cuts of meats and seafood. They have a great selection of Italian antipasto foods along with what is supposed to be the best porketta pulled sandwiches anywhere. The interior is about 25% cafe, 25% meat counters, 25% general groceries and 25% retail. I got there around noon on a Thursday and it was hard to find street parking. If you're parked around the store, even in perhaps a questionable spot, this seems to be one happy crowd of lunch people both eating in and taking out. No one seems to mind. They have a selection of veal, chicken and steak sandwiches. I read some complaints about the veal sandwich however i wouldn't know that. It seemed as though the orders in the very long line (which does move quickly) were split between veal and steak. The sandwich itself is priced well, but the toppings do seem too expensive (50c each for each topping, including "basic" things like onions). Its quite tasty, although I have to say that I prefer Porchetta & Co in downtown (although that is quite a bit more pricey, especially when you factor in its smaller size). One of the big differences between the two is that this place doesn't include the skin, which is one of the best parts. I'll come here again though if I'm in the area. Was craving porchetta after being at a buddies party on the weekend where they had a whole pig from Eddystone in North York, so me and the Mrs made the trip out here today to give their version of porchetta a shot. We were really excited especially after seeing the beautiful roasts sitting there, but alas, it was quite disappointing when we actually ate the sandwich and realized there isn't a single piece of crispy skin (cracklings) in the sandwich at all. They just take the meat out of the crispy skin and don't include ANY of it at all. What the hell is the reason for this? They are omitting the best part of the porchetta! For this reason, I have to dock them 2 stars. I'd put both Eddystone's porchetta above Vicentina and Porchetta & Co's in Toronto above them as well. I just don't understand their reasoning for discarding the skin and not including any in the sandwich at all.. Maybe if we're lucky somebody who works here will read this and change their ways.. You get what you paid for. I have been to this place many times since 2013 and i love coming back. They have a very good meat selection and a varieties of ready to eat meals. Their popular sandwiches are good priced fresh simple and nice toppings. However I find their veal sandwiches very tough and chewy feeling like a caveman. Parking is also hard to come by during peak hours and even public bus drivers, fire trucks and police cars would also be parking along the side of a non parking zones (don't worry cops knows why you are parked there during peak hours). I would have given a 5 stars only if they have a softer veal meat for the sandwich. I still would go back for more. read more

I got a new job in the area a few months ago and have been looking for lunch options on the days that I don't bring my own food. They get very busy at lunch so I STRONGLY suggest that you order online before heading over to pick up your sandwich. They have a +$3.99 optoin for double meat and I have to say that the one time I chose this option, I was overwhelmed! That is saying a lot because I'm a big eater! I've been slowly making my way through the menu of options and I have to say that the Porchetta has been the best so far. The veal is completely underwhelming and while the steak is good, the slices are large and chewy to a point that you are pulling two or three mouthfuls of meat with each bite and having to manage it on your plate afterward. Also, I ordered medium rare meat and got well-done meat, not even a hint of pink at all. Still, very good sandwiches in general though so I would recommend it if you work in the area or even somehow find yourself here too. read more

My mom brought back a box of frozen breaded chicken cutlets because the meat was was full of grissol and the taste was not very good.They told her " I guess you weren't hungary enough" not only were they rude to her but also never gave her money back. My mom is an 82 year old nonna and no one knows how to fry chicken cutlets better than her.If she says it's no good, than it's no good. We called in our order on our way to this place. It still took a long time for us to get our order. They do appear to be crazy busy at lunch so come early and try to order online first. There's a special online order pick-up line. My steak sandwich with hot peppers was good, but not spectacular. First of all, they charge you fifty cents for every topping - even a tomato slice. That's ridiculous. Secondly, they cook they steak to well done. Well done steak is a waste of steak, in my opinion. Third, they don't trim the steak well so there's a lot of fat and gristle. This does make the sandwich a bit hard to eat because the hard gristle doesn't bite cleanly so you end up yanking large pieces of steak out of your sandwich when you try to take a bite. Not sure I would come back here of my own initiative, but if my cohorts wanted to come here, I'd probably try the grilled chicken sandwich or something else. read more
