    Lunch menu 11am to 3pm

As if I needed another reason to love Yelp, I discovered here that my local butcher shop also makes lunch sandwiches. Since I live with a man for whom the Art of the Sandwich is a religion we immediately ran out the door to check the place out. The Friendly Butcher isn't just a name, it's a fact. Everybody in there is smiling, friendly and banters with customers. As Andrew A. says, the sandwiches are built around outstanding meat. The steak sandwich is a steak, cooked up after you place your order. No lousy strips of pre-cooked steak here! Turkey and roast beef are shaved fresh and deliciously juicy. Your sandwich is built on your choice of several breads or buns, including a multigrain that -- unlike some that I choke down to feel virtuous -- actually tastes great. Toppings are pretty standard, and even with my minimalist approach (cheese and BBQ sauce) you've still got a filling lunch. My one complaint is that on Saturday they may be out of some bread types and toppings. I can't bring myself to downrate a star for it, though, since whatever you opt for as your second choice is still awesome. (But feel free to skip hot peppers so there's some left for me.)

We keep coming back here because it's great, everyone loves it. The meat they grill is fresh, juicy and tasty and the price is just $10 (we call them the HST-free Butcher as a pun on their name). The Korean Steak sandwich I had this time was juicy and tender - and it was covered in a marinade/sauce that you would expect spicy pork to be covered in at a Korean restaurant - it was great. Topped with a handful of onions and a lot of Sriracha Mayo, it was enjoyable from the very first to the last bite - and they don't skimp on the amount of steak! The "mac burger" was pretty normal, it was not as juicy as it probably could be so I recommend making up for it with additional garlic ailoi, sriracha mayo, "mac sauce" or whatever sauces they have on that day. It appears you can even ask for variations, I noted one other customer walking away with what appeared to be a Korean Steak salad topped with sauce (?). They still don't know their WiFi password, so it is hard to play Pokemon Go here. The Starbucks WiFi is intermittently in range.

Pricey but worth it! Great cuts of meat and the tomato salad...my son keeps asking me to go back there just for that!

Although the prices are a bit high, the quality is nearly un matched (think cumbraes, pusateris, etc).

This is a fine dining steak restaurant without the table-clothed tables. Sizable steaks are grilled…read moreover charcoal. They also serve as a butcher shop. They have a Michelin-recommended designation. They also have house-made charcuterie. When you choose a cut of meat, they bring it over to you so you can choose one. They tell you the exact weight (typically 0.5 lb to 1.0 lb) and cost. All meats are cooked medium-rare unless otherwise specified. There are minor changes to menu weekly, and are major changes monthly. There is a chef's table: counter seating for 4 in front of the head chef, Chef Gareth. These counter seats costs a little more. You can see the chef plating the dishes. He is willing to let you photograph and video the plating. I've previously dined here on 2024-11-29 and 2025-06-15. This review is about my visit on 2026-05-30. My mom and I arrived for a late lunch at 14:15. The server told us a steak would take 30 mins because the restaurant is still full. My mom was hungry so we asked about a vegetable side and we were told 5 mins. We were willing to have the vegetable first and then wait for the steak. We ordered the following: 1. Grilled Asparagus ($25). 2. Denver Steak ($47.95 from $70/lb). The asparagus dish tasted good. It consists of asparagus beurre blanc, quanciale (salt-cured meat), and pickled ramps. I've never had ramps before, which are onion-like vegetables, also called wild garlic or wild leeks. The pickling made them the strongest taste on the dish. The Denver cut is one step above a Sirloin cut. I've never had it before so I wanted to try. The Denver is a highly marbled, budget-friendly cut from the animal's chuck (shoulder). This restaurant's Denver ($70/lb) actually more expensive than the Sirloin ($60/lb). It was perfectly grilled as medium-rare with a deep, rich, beefy flavour, and melts like butter. The steak was sliced into thick slices and highly charred on one side. The Denver is typically dense so try cutting it along the grain. You can actually see a few pieces of large salt pieces, so the steak was saltier than usual. I was glad I tried a Denver, and would have it again. As a butcher shop, you can buy various fresh cuts. There are fridges for take-home choices like pork ragu, guanciale, and prime steaks. There is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. There is very loud music playing in the background making it hard for conversations. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are two gender-neutral washrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible. There is free parking in their private parking lot and free neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-098

The servers were friendly, and informative - explaining that the entire animal is used and not wasted. My favourite was the squash which was a perfect mix of savory and sweet. The rest of the table liked the beef tongue and smoked pork chop with the mushrooms. Portions were good as all of this was shared amongst 5 people.

I've typically always been a fan of the spaducci sticks from from Vincentina meats but over the years, I've noticed that the size and quality have been decreasing while the price has been increasing. Got a lead on Bonanza who truly is a meat boutique, every possible kind of meat, cut, animal, that you could want in every form (form whole lamb/rabbit) all the way down to fileted, portioned, chopped, etc. Basically if you can dream it... Bonanza can do it! The spaducci we got were easily double the size what I'm used to, and the lamb we perfectly marbled so I know when I eat these in about 6 hours they are going to be juicy, hot and delicious! It's a bit of a stretch to find the place, it's located off of Jevlan which you can access off of a side street that connects to Weston road just north of Hwy 7! This is my new go to butcher in Vaughan! Check them out! Eatcrest OUT!
