I have no official ties to KTLA , my review is based purely on a nostalgia factor because anyone…read morewho grew up in the 70's & 80's will remember tuning in on the weekends , we had Sunday Mornings with Popeye & George of the Jungle ,The Family Film Festival which played classics such as "The Ghost & Mr. Chicken & Pippi Longstocking" then original programming Kids Incorporated, Puttin on the Hits (way before lip synch battle & were amateurs trying to win cash prizes) syndicated shows Silver Spoons & Charles in Charge. We got Twilight Zone Marathons, movies like Swamp Thing & Big Foot, and B movie galore... The First time I got to see The Last American Virgin & Valley Girl was on KTLA. Yes before reality & boobgate, tv could be cheezy, but it sure was fun living through it. So I may be getting older, but I was lucky enough to live in a generation that was allowed a semblance of innocence .... Most of those innuendos in the shows of long ago went right over my head as a kid... Good times were had. As an adult in the mid 90's I spent my mornings watching the KTLA morning news, Carlos, Barbara, Mark & Sam Ruben started off my day with humor. I realize times change & things have to evolve , it reminds me of something Henry Winkler said once in an interview when asked if he believed television would ever go back to those Happy Days, and he said that things would turn back when the public was ready (paraphrasing), it's been a long wait but I've seen a bit of a shift, have you?

*** I recently attended a screening hosted by KCRW, The Document. ***…read more The movie was titled "Maiden" about the Whitbread Round the World yacht race. It was a grueling open-ocean race dominated historically by only men. But in 1989, a young woman put together an all-female crew to challenge that. The Document invited hundreds of KCRW members to attend, so I RSVP'd. And I'm glad that I did. This film is inspirational. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/writers-guild-theater-beverly-hills-2?select=mGn0PJVXuasfx_E_5a1E9g I am not a woman and I don't sail, yet even I was inspired by this story. These women sailed the sea for about six months against tremendous odds (including the Southern Ocean off the coast of Antartica). Amazing! That inspires me to challenge myself much more in my life as a result. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/writers-guild-theater-beverly-hills-2?select=LMNKf0eXIqhQnlkXLtAKaw There were several food trucks and complimentary wine followed by a Q&A with the yacht captain Tracy Edwards and "Maiden" director Alex Holmes. Overall, a very nice event held at the Writer's Guild theatre. *** I don't subscribe to KCRW for its perks, but nice to partake. ;p ***

His communication style, neutrality, and ability to explain things in a way that made sense were all incredibly helpful. Looking back now, we feel very fortunate that we found Dennis. He helped us stay on track, work through the hard parts thoughtfully, and reach a place that feels fair and stable for both of us. If a friend were beginning this process, I wouldn't be happy for them--it's never an easy thing--but I would tell them that mediation is absolutely the best path if you can take it. For any couple that wants to move forward with respect and create an outcome that lets both people begin their next chapter, this approach--and working with someone like Dennis--makes a real difference.

Absolute bandits. Do not send these people money. They have no access to anything in Hollywood. If…read moreyou send in your manuscript, they will pretend to pitch it to a producer who will give you a glowing review and suggest you hire a screenwriter. THEIR screenwriter, for which you would have to pay around $20,000. I KNOW several screenwriters. All of them warned me not to chance it with these clowns. Nat Mundel is a smooth talker, but when you drill down, you find out that they have NEVER actually completed a film from a book - they are ALLEGEDLY in the process of doing so. Their affiliations are sketchy and their business model appears to be: "Send us money and we'll make your novel into a film." Only your $700 (roughly) will be gone and they'll let you know that a particular producer thinks your story is GREAT and could even win an Oscar. To do so, just send another $20K to have a screen writer turn it into a script. Only IF you tell them you have your own screen writers, they instantly lose interest and good luck talking to that producer who was "SO EXCITED" to have read your story. "They are very busy people and cannot spend ten minutes on the phone with you again." Maybe they WANT to be an incubator, but that isn't how Hollywood works. If someone likes your book, they pay you for it, not the other way around. Stay away.

This is the 15th year of the festival. The festival had the opportunity to create a meaningful…read moreexperience for both filmmakers and audiences, but unfortunately it fell short in several important ways. Throughout the week, there was little visible involvement from the programming team during screenings. Film blocks began without introductions or acknowledgements of the filmmakers, and there were no post-screening Q&A sessions. Those conversations are often one of the most valuable parts of attending a film festival, they allow audiences to engage with the work and give filmmakers the opportunity to share their creative process and connect with one another. Speaking with other attending filmmakers, this was not an isolated impression. Many expressed similar disappointment and felt that the festival lacked the sense of community and engagement they had expected. Rather than feeling like a curated festival celebrating independent cinema, the screenings often felt like standalone theatrical presentations. Every festival has room for improvement, but filmmaker engagement should be a priority. Even brief introductions, moderated discussions, and a visible programming presence can significantly enhance the experience for everyone involved. Based on this experience, it is difficult to recommend submitting to this festival in its current form. I hope the team takes a deep look and improves going forward. Right now I don't think any independent film maker should submit or screen here.

I've worked with Laura in the past and she has helped me out many times with my various web site…read morerelated questions. Laura really knows her stuff and had no problems answering all of my silly questions related to my web site and how I could optimize it for search engines! Ask her any questions you got about HTML, CSS, CMS, Flash or any other acronym you can think of and you will also realize that she knows her stuff, go ahead, I dare you to ask her a tough question...actually, I triple dog dare you (Yeah, I did just triple dog dare you). Her designs are creative and unique, her web sites are fast and efficient, most importantly she is a super-nice person that you can completely trust with crafting your web site to give your business that web presence it desperately needs. If you are looking for a web developer, look no further.

Today's customer serviced based businesses require a variety of vehicles to reach out to potential…read moreand existing clientele. Like any vehicle, it's an investment that one needs to think wisely about. I can't tell you how many times I've run into business owners who cheaped out and spent less on low quality websites only to find themselves unhappy and starting from scratch by having to invest more than if they did it right in the first place. If you run a business, your website is your business card. A professional looking website says a lot about your credibility and a physical business card is merely a link to your website. I know when I look into a business, the first thing I do is find out everything I need to know about them online even if I heard about them through word of mouth (isn't that the same reason you are reading this testimonial right now?) because after all, if my money is going to leave my pocket, I'd better get my money's worth. I have seen a positive change in my business ever since Roeder Studios designed and launched my website (www.tristinstyling.com) in the beginning of 2008 after working purely through word of mouth for 9 years. If you are in search of a web designer right now, you've probably encountered designers who don't seem to have it together or brush you off with the excuse of, "Sorry it took so long to get back to you I'm so busy." I did not experience this with Roeder Studios. Within a few days from my inquiry, Laura Roeder sent me a proposal and we booked a date to meet and sign the contract. During the meeting, we discussed ideas and talked about the nature of my business. She provided me with a time line of how everything should go and give or take a few weeks here and there, the team had the website up by January 2008 as I hoped. Laura provided the best customer service out of all the designers I approached. My website is everything I asked for. Clients love it and find it easy to navigate. In fact, some new clients said that they booked me over my competitors because my website was easier to browse!
