Also, HEARD THAT Julie may be linking a DHCS complaint to my review; except my complaint is entirely different. May 2022, I moved my 90-year-old mother, an immigrant with limited English and hearing loss, to Vibrant Living (VL) based on Julie's promise that she/VL would transition my mom from "private-pay" to Medi-CAL's "Assisted Living Waiver Program" (ALWP) once mom was enrolled. We paid over $44,000.00 in self-payments. When mom was enrolled into the ALWP, Julie reneged! Demanded $5,500 or FACE EVICTION! If Julie hadn't agreed to transition mom from "private-pay" to the ALWP, I would not have moved her there. I purposely toured facilities that participated in the ALWP. I was finding mom her "forever" home to avoid relocating her after savings ran out. Based on Julie's promise, and my future gratitude toward the state's help, I accepted the very high private rate in 2022 of $5,500.00 a mo., for a "SHARED" DEN ROOM. We chose VL based on the assurance the ALWP spot would be secured. Julie exploited a vulnerable, low-income senior and took advantage of her family and me, her only daughter and sole caregiver, already overwhelmed by caregiving duties while managing a full-time job. Julie knew mom was taking a family loan to cover the final month's rent before the program kicked in. Once mom was enrolled, Julie invoiced my mom $5,500 and informed us, by email, the spot she promised us was no longer available. Julie then bills the ALWP, using my mom, and keeps the funds. (More details, but Yelp space is limited here.) ALWP reimburses enrollees retroactively (minus room and board costs). We budgeted for $10K est. retro-reimbursement. Mom can't repay family loan now, cover extra costs for meds or buy basic necessities. Also, won't be able to cover the balance of her funeral arrangements - WHILE JULIE PROFITED! "She kept my mom's retro-reimbursement!!" We toured VL during the height of Covid; when relocating was slowed; basically at a standstill for the overall population. There were two, maybe three, vacancies at VL. I see now that Julie was FOCUSED ON THE MONEY than long-term care. Public record lawsuits include "monies owned" multiple Plaintiffs. Julie's former entities include Ambrosia Creek, LLC (see photo). It was suggested Julie intended to drain my mom's entire life savings in hopes she'd pass away before the program kicked in. That VL was strapped for cash? CAREGIVERS, BEWARE - Facilities can profit more from "private/self-pay" compared to state-funded programs; keep in mind as you evaluate facilities for LONG-term care for your loved ones. April 2023, I received a "Release Waiver" (to not sue Julie) in exchange for a dollar amount. Unbeknownst to me, Julie simultaneously filed a FALSE restraining order to attempt to discredit me and cover up her fraudulent actions. I learned this in Sept. 2023. Case dismissed June 2023. Julie named (used) her husband and teenage daughter in her false report for whom I've never met or knew their names. I have not seen Julie since months before she EVICTED my mom or after she drained all of my mom's savings in VL rent payments. [Added to review Dec. 2023] I'm not Julie's only FALSE restraining order filing. In this instance, defendant is a SD FIREFIGHTER about a property transaction..."I believe that Plaintiff has abused the legal process by filing the action and exaggerating the facts to obtain a Civil Harassment Restraining Order against me and avoid Court costs incidental to the filing of a civil complaint." Julie names (used) her two teenage children (now Adults) in her FALSE filing. Same as she has done with her current teenage daughter in her FALSE REPORT against me. [Update March 28, 2025] Saw Julie in court on March 11, 2025. Plaintiff is my 92-year-old mom. Hearing postponed to August 2025 as JULIE FAILED to deliver exhibits to my mom. To date, no exhibits have been shared with my mom by Julie - while Julie has been in possession of our evidence. This prolonged withholding of evidence is unacceptable and concerning at minimum. - Filing a false harassment report is a MISDEMEANOR. As you know, Caregiving is the most challenging role anyone can take on. At times, you may want to crumble, but you persevere, and I commend you. My family and I continue to go through a negative experience, x's 100, as Julie continues to inflict SIGNIFICANT EMOTIONAL AND FINANCIAL DISTRESS upon us with her dishonesty and fabricated stories. Upon our initial meeting with Julie and during my mom's VL stay, we were kind and generous to Julie and her care team throughout. Perhaps due to our kind nature that Julie thought she could take advantage. Sidenote - Several months ago I crossed paths with a Sergeant with the Sheriff's department Imagine my surprise when he shared with me that he knew about the "Assisted Living Waiver Program!" based on his elderly mother. He shared with me "it was the hardest thing in his life that he's ever had to do...all the phone calls." I understood completely - and this professional sees the worst of the worst first-hand every day in his line of work. Caregivers, I hope you feel as validated as I do to hear this. Hence, why I share my story with you here and on various other platforms, so that you and your loved ones do not go through what my family and I have yet to recover from.
