That's ultimately why I'm choosing to leave this review. However, I also was very appalled by how openly the owner Jordan spoke of her hatred for the homeless community and proudly totes her gun- I'm all about having your own beliefs and rights but as a business owner I was shocked at how she managed to not read the room whatsoever. Not only was she not ashamed to complain about the houseless/transient community, and brag about her gun use, but she decided to heavily empathize with massive corporations like Nike and Whole Foods because they had to close some locations in California due to looting? (Not sure if this is even true I have not fact checked) this made no sense to me. Jordan also talked and spewed these cold views the entire appointment incessantly I could barely get a word in. She talked over and interrupted me multiple times. That's okay I guess because in hindsight it's not my job to educate Jordan, I just needed a haircut. If you want a salon that reeks of privilege, lacks critical thinking and professional service, and shares their small-minded simple views of an incredibly complicated world- go to Plum Fancy and make sure you ask for Jordan. I had to admit at the age of 52 yo that my hair was starting to come in more white than I would like just around my face and decided to try and embrace it. So I wanted to get white highlights to blend in with my natural ash blonde color so it would grow in easier and a little less painful on the eyes than sporting the all to familiar "skunk stripe". Well, Randa matched and blended the white hairs so perfectly with the rest of my dark ash blonde hair that you can't tell where my natural white and the highlight meet. The people were very pleasant and friendly and I felt great in the environment. My first cut was ok, I suppose, but not good. I was stunned that the stylist used electric clippers on my hair since I have never had this done before, but it wasn't too awful...just not good. The next cut, however, has been horrible! Despite me asking her to bring her chunking sheers, she did not "find" them. She again used the clippers, but this time the result was awful! The back was extremely short and thick since the hair was cut more like a man's there. The sides and the top were scissor cut, but were not properly blended with the stark shave of the back at all! The worst part was the color I paid over $200.00 to have done. We were supposed to take my hair from a dark reddish brown to the natural grey it has been turning to and wow was it a problem!!! I have since found out it would have been an almost impossible task to begin with. But, the stylist said she could do it and I did agree to have it done. My hair was completely destroyed! I spent over 8 hours the first day with various products and several people working on my hair and had to come back the next day for some serious help to put color back in. My hair looked almost the same color as my brindle Pomeranian dog and the texture was completely fried! I have been unable to do anything to it to prevent the breakage and it was left as if it had been burned in a fire. I have now spent over two months trying to get it healthy enough to get a good cut somewhere else! I've had to buy oloplex in several types to help to end the damage and have had other hairstylists tell me I had to just let it grow because it was damaged beyond any possible repair. My hair is generally very short and highly texturized to give it lift, but now it is a burnt, crispy, frizzy mess with horrible color that won't hold due to all of the bleach damage. I have generously given this salon two stars because the environment and the people were pleasant, but for services rendered, I would honestly rate below one star.
