We've been waiting for our city to finally give us the go-ahead on a small addition and got tired…read moreof looking at the ugly old faded paint job, cracked stucco, and peeling paint on the eaves of our home. We were going to have the paint job done as part of the addition/renovation, but after almost a year and a half with no progress, we decided to get the exterior painted so it's in better condition and MUCH prettier to look at in the meantime. Our contractor for the addition had quoted $20K for the paint job, which seemed exorbitant. I called the painting company who had painted our previous house 4 years ago, and he beat that by $4K, which was a vast improvement but still a bit of a financial pinch. I contacted Aqua, and Mohamad came out pretty quickly. He did a thorough walk-around to see what we needed done and where the problem areas were - and there were A LOT of problem areas. The previous owners had neglected this place for quite a while, and there was even one exterior wall that they hadn't bothered to paint at all on their most recent DIY job of it. It had a chalky peach color paint that came off on the finger when we rubbed at it. Mohamad described all the work they'd do to prep the surfaces properly and the paints they would use for a durable paint job. Then he gave us a written estimate with all of the prep, painting, and cleaning steps delineated clearly. I was hoping we'd be able to save a little more, or at least get a comparison to know we weren't overpaying our previous company. Mohamad beat their price by over $3500K for the basic paint. It was $800 more for the premium paint. We jumped right on that and got scheduled for the paint job. They ended up having room in their schedule to start a week sooner. His crew came out and got right to work prepping. They worked quickly but with precision, getting eaves sanded and primed, getting rid of the old peeling stucco, and patching where needed. We'd also asked them to remove the old metal awning over the bay window in front. When they did, they discovered some of the trim had deteriorated, and they replaced it at no additional cost. The quality of their work was excellent, and we were thrilled with the results. My husband also said that afterward it was by the cleanest we've ever had workers leave our property. If you're considering Aqua, I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have waited over a year, to write this review as I did not want anger to cloud my judgement…read more We hired Mohammed to paint our interior. At first we really liked him. He seemed personable. We hired him because he said that he could paint our big house in two weeks. Doable if you have a large crew. That was the main reason we hired him. It took him over 6 weeks. I am not including any time, he waited for the floor guys to finish. First of all, let me say, that his crew was nice. We had hardwood flooring guys in after the painters were mostly done, but his crew was supposed to come back after the floor guys were done to touch up, etc.. That was the deal. BTW, the floor guys, consummate professionals cleaned my home every day after they finished their day's work. Mohammed left our home a mess that was unlivable. The floor guys moved a lot of our furniture, which meant, Mohammed did less work then we actually paid him for. He even tried to sell us a weird color of paint and finally realized he was trying to get rid of a color he was stuck with from a previous client. He finally admitted to that. He left my house filthy, dusty to a fault. We asked him to fix a couple of cracks that they missed, sometimes entire areas he missed and move the last bit of furniture back. He refused to move the furniture, which was his job, something every painter would do. "Ran out of time, " he said. Really? They tore one of my couches when moving it to paint, and when I showed it to Mohammed, he said nothing. They broke my grandfather clock after they were instructed to not move it without us being there. The very old wooden case of our antique clock was totally disassembled, due to their lack of being careful. Had to hire someone to fix the clock (very expensive), another to fix the antique case, buy hardware that they misplaced, pay a company to move our furniture back. So, in summary, he totally misrepresented the time it would take him to paint this house, left in various places shoddy and, or unfinished work. Tried to talk us out of painting some things, like our pantry because it wouldn't last even though it was part of the bid. In fact, we personally removed everything from the pantry and closets ourselves to make his job easier, Then, he blamed us for being "picky." Lost hardware to doors, never hung up the window treatments, electrical outlet covers were not replaced. Sloppily painted the rings around our ceiling lights, but only partial painting, so it looks like a mistake. We showed him that, and he refused to fix it. Mirrors, etc. that his guys took down had to be put back up by us.. Had to get his guys to put drawers in the bathroom back correctly as they didn't open properly. So, to make a long story short, I do not recommend Mohammed. He left us with a mess. Funny thing was we had 3 beautiful Disney statues we were going to give him for his kids. That never happened for obvious reasons. Don't forget, Mohammed is the salesman of this company. So, yes, he is personable. I do not recommend him nor his company, because painting is all about details, and Mohammed sorely lacked the eye or the will to fully complete this job. I am sorry to write this review, but feel people should know the truth.

Arteen is an owner-operator who takes pride in his work, and the quality shows. We've had many paint jobs done in different homes over the years, and his attention to detail really stood out. He was careful to keep everything clean before and after painting. For example, he removed every light switch, outlet, and fixture, cleaned them, and carefully put everything back. We were impressed enough with his attention to detail that we also asked him to take care of some additional home improvement work that wasn't related to painting. He was flexible about working around other vendors who were in the home at the same time, and he communicated clearly throughout the project. We always knew when he would be there, what he planned to accomplish, and what had been completed. He is also a genuinely nice person and a pleasure to have around. We would definitely recommend Arteen and will certainly call him again for future projects.
