"Pre-existing suspension defect discovered immediately after purchase - very disappointing experience"
I purchased a 2019 Tesla Model X from VIB Motors on November 1, 2025.
Before buying, I specifically asked whether the suspension had any issues and was told that everything was fine. The inspection report they provided also stated "no suspension issues."
However, on the very first day I brought the car home, the air suspension compressor made unusually loud and extended noise after sitting overnight. A few days later, I noticed the right side of the vehicle sinking overnight by about 5 cm.
I took the car to Tesla Service for a full diagnostic. Tesla confirmed in writing that the right rear air suspension has a long-term leak, which matches the symptoms I observed from Day 1. The repair cost is $3,671.
Despite this, the dealership refused to allow the repair to be done at Tesla and instead asked me to pay $1,500 and use their own third-party shop. For a Tesla air suspension system, this is not appropriate, as Tesla is the only shop with the correct tools, software, and calibration procedures.
This has been an extremely frustrating experience. I expected the basic mechanical condition described during the sale to be accurate. Instead, I discovered a pre-existing defect almost immediately after purchasing the car, and have had to spend time, money, and effort to resolve something that should have been properly disclosed or identified before the sale.
I hope this review helps future buyers be cautious and ask for a more thorough, independently verified inspection before purchasing. read more
