The place is beautiful, no doubt. Food was - compared with the "average" that you get in Italy - really bad. The papardelle overcooked, the tagliate undercooked and not the best meat quality. Upon request, only one ossobucco was left - really? Most irritating, though, tons of personnel, at least 5 waiters for 20 tables or so (nobody dines inside), but still: empty glasses and cans stay on the table, no active waitering (no "Would you like something else?"). We had a lovely meal at Vi Vace with my husband and adult son. We made reservations and had the choice to eat inside or outside. We opted for outside, although the inside dining looked inviting and comfortable. We wanted to watch the sunset, and we were not disappointed. We had pasta and salads. The garden was initimate and romantic. There was a large party next to us and we still received amazing service. Wine recommendations were wonderful. We found that 2 - 3 servers checked in on us regularily and always offered to bring more food or wine. We ended up staying for dessert because they sold us on the wonderful treats! read more

Even though there was a little bit of drizzle, they have nice umbrellas that kept us dry. We shared several appetizers, including the Fig salad and the prosciutto. The prosciutto and melon was amazing! The favorite thing I ate that day. I got the orecchette with pesto sauce as my entree. It was flavorful, but if I came back I would likely share it with someone and get a regular main. Several people got the gnocchi, and they said it was delicious but quite heavy in the cream sauce. The food and service were very good. We were a bit disappointed at first when we were told there were no tables available because they were booked, and actually they were bever filled! We stumbled upon Vi Vace and very glad we did - the views are simply breathtaking. It was a cooler night with the threat of rain but we still wanted to enjoy our last meal out in Italy and braved the outdoors. They have complimentary white fleece blankets for guests which kept us warm during the meal. We started off with the burrata, melon and prosciutto platter which was a very nice start to the meal. I then had the pici al ragu di Cinghiale - the wild boar ragu. It. Was. Delicious! And such a healthy serving of the meat. I highly recommend this! The best steak I've ever had in my life was here - and everyday I think back to that mouth watering piece of steak, cooked to perfection, drizzled with truffle sauce. It's a hidden gem in Siena, far from the Campo, and looks like a regular restaurant from the outside. I strongly encourage you to ask to sit on their patio outside near the back - you'll be rewarded with a very impressive view overlooking Siena and the Torre del Mangia. I came here for dinner with a couple of classmates one evening and the service was fantastic. It got a bit chilly near the end of the night but we wanted to stay and take in the view and so they offered us blankets! Every single dish and dessert that our party got was very impressive. This is an upscale Tuscan restaurant with a killer patio and nice views into the gardens of the old city of Siena. Situated on the west side of the old city in the Pantera district, this space used to be a very pleasant, family-oriented Trattoria ("Due Porte") serving quite good straight up Tuscan fare. We went there many times. Vi Vace represents a refurbished dining space (especially out back, where they have greatly expanded the garden patio) as well as the cuisine. Its still solidly in the Tuscan culinary footprint, but with more flair, and more care given to the dishes. We had several salads and some nice vino rosso delle casa. Everything was quite tasty and well prepared. The prices are higher than the previous, family-oriented concept, but that's okay; they're still within the reasonable category. I'll be looking forward to trying Vi Vace again when we're next in Siena. I like the updated menu, and the service is polite and attentive. We stopped in last night to enjoy the beautiful view from the outdoor seating area. The ambience outside was great, but it was over 30 minutes before we had the opportunity to order wine or food, as the waitstaff ignored while trying to maintain their existing tables. It was only after we flagged a waitress down (after multiple attempt) that one hastily took our orders. That aside, our meals were each very good, but poor service killed an otherwise good meal and view. Both tables on either side of us had similar comments about the service. The service here is garbage. I would skip as quickly as possible. They allow people with cellphones to sit and talk on the phone and people with computers to work away, but won't let a group of us have a glass of wine.
