V.F.W. National Home for Children Today is Thanks Giving. I am so lucky to be in the U.S.A. It's time for me to think of others not so fortunate as part of giving thanks. I like to think of what i can do to share the wealth of living in the U.S.A. Though i've never been there V.F.W. National Home for Children have kept track of their doings http://vfwnationalhome.org/alumni/index.shtml and am sure they are just what they say they are. Have met some of the children and the staff at conventions and they made me proud to be a long time life member and supporter. These are the children of those men and women who gave their lives so you and I could enjoy the fruits of this great country. They died in support of you and me. The least I feel I can do is help support their orphans. National home also helps the family's of active military personal in need. V.F.W. We help all Vets. and their families. You don't have to be a member. To be a member one has to be a combat veteran. We volunteered to help. We don't limit our help to members we are happy to help any Honorably discharged vet. or active duty personal. All the posts have a Service Officer who is trained to help with forms, insurance and a general knowledge of veteran problems like that; there are also district and national service officers. Some posts have surgeons and all have chaplains who are happy to help with hospital visitations and such. Don't be shy we are happy to help. No veteran should be broke, destitute or homeless. There are also other groups with similar goals and services, the American Legion, American Vets, Vietnam Veterans of America to name just a few very fine organizations there to help. http://www.vfw.org

Pancake breakfast promoted on Sunday March 30th, never took place. Now, I am skeptical about any other events that are advertised.

Since that time it has remained one of the best go-to spots for thrifting in the area. Of all the thrift shops in the South Bay, undoubtedly Savers never ceases to amaze. As can be expected, this thrift store offers all of the things you would expect to find: clothing, shoes, books, records, toys, kitchenware, electronic items, and pretty much everything else you can think of. Plus, they are constantly stocking new items, so every time you go in to this business you're guaranteed to see something new. I know a lot of people talk about the prices at this thrift store. For pretty much all of the items I find them to be very reasonable. In fact, you can truly find some one of a kind items for incredible prices. In terms of the clothing, yes, they are a bit high in their pricing compared to other thrift store chains. For some people, they may not want to spend $12.00 to $20.00 for say a used shirt. Though this is not always the case, a lot of their clothing is fairly expensive. This is just something to keep in mind if you haven't been here before. If you're going to be shopping for clothing at Savers, you've pretty much have got to expect to pay the top dollar for it in terms of the used market. This is a necessarily bad or good, and it isn't a criticism, it's just the way Savers operates. Overall, this is a truly good shop. I can't say enough about this place and the staff here are always super nice and friendly. Overall, it's one of my favorite places to thrift. You never know what you're going to find. I know I have found some truly incredible items at this store.

Enlightenment seemed like an esoteric, out-of-reach goal, and not one I was necessarily interested in pursuing -- not understanding, it had always struck me as an ironically self-focused pursuit. A Zen state of mind, with balance and equanimity -- that seemed interesting. But through the people at the Torrance Zen Center I found that the Zen path is not about the mind, but very much of the heart, and all the compassion the heart is capable of. The practitioners follow the Greater Path, with the intention of helping anyone and everyone through Zen to manifest a better version of themselves. And Enlightenment? It's about helping other people. Becoming in sync with the Greatest Good, however the name given by one's language culture. While the foundational practitioners natively speak Mandarin or Cantonese, they all make a dedicated and successful effort to speak English in teaching, sharing, and casual interactions, for which I am deeply and profoundly grateful. They have graciously and continuously extended a warm, including welcome. I have occasionally felt "odd man out," but: my doing. Their generosity of heart always surges back and I relax a bit more. Shortly after beginning meditation practice, I noticed, to my surprise, that many people - some I knew and some I didn't - suddenly seemed more comfortable around me, eager to talk and share whatever was on their minds. Positive feelings and experiences began to dominate my life, all while retaining and improving family relations, growing friendships, and more easily establishing new connections with people. Life is short. Five Stars!
