Food challenge!
Jerry M.

Ok, so as the rules go, you need to be a member or have a sponsor to partake of the drinks. But they welcome all here. It can be a Smokey place at times (it's Nevada), but whether it's slow or packed, this place has been an awesome choice for somewhere to eat, or to chill and have a drink. Food prices are fairly reasonable with daily specials coming from the Bosn Locker. Julia is the kitchen manager and does an awesome job of making sure the food is well prepared and served right. Tommy cooks most times I've been here and is excellent. Mary, Kia and Sherri are the bartenders I've encountered. All are awesome with great personalities and welcoming conversation. The place can seat about 24 people at tables and about 14 at the bar, so there can be standing room only times. They will also do take out orders as well.

This place is amazing: the atmosphere, food, people - everything was great! They have a couple of people who wear costumes and replay the life of Wild West - it was fun and crazy in a good way!

The Beatty VFW is a great place having recently been built from a former church.

Lively place. Portions are big. Inside is much like a museum that honors our armed forces.

Sourdough Saloon - Homemade cheesecake

Sourdough Saloon

Hidden gem for homemade food!!…read more We brought our kids for dinner and had an unexpectedly great meal--calzones and sourdough pizza, plus homemade cheesecake and brownies. I do not normally get cheesecake but trust me - this is SO good. Everything is made from scratch, including the sourdough, calzone dough, and pizza sauce, and desserts. We ordered personal pizzas, but the large ones looked huge--lots of people were enjoying them in the bar area. When we walked in, we weren't sure what to expect. There are two entrances--one to a busy saloon for adults and was quite busy for a Tuesday), and one to an empty back dining area near the kitchen. We chose the back, which actually turned out great. The chef (been here since August) was very friendly, shared about the food, and makes East Coast-style pizza and calzones (recently moved from New Jersey). His wife makes the desserts I think he said - my kids loved the brownies, and I loved the cheesecake: light, fluffy, and not overly sweet (and I don't usually eat cheesecake!). Very casual, low-key spot with friendly people and truly homemade food.

Hutch referred to my wife as "my friend," a couple times which immediately set an uncomfortable tone. Things went further downhill when the chef (if that's the right term, given the state of the breadsticks) approached us aggressively while we were boxing up our food. He raised his voice and said "nobody told me it was for takeout," despite the fact that I had already had a full conversation with Hutch confirming takeout and requesting everything to-go. I hadn't even said a word to the chef and didn't mind packing things up myself due to a simple miscommunication, but his confrontational approach was completely unnecessary. It's hard not to wonder whether the discomfort we experienced had anything to do with the fact that I'm obviously gay, because the overall interaction felt weird, unwelcoming, and tense. I went across the street later to the BBQ place to get food and they treated us like family, so it's not a small town problem. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the wings were decent, but I could never imagine coming here again. They also did not have homemade desserts like the other reviews claim (one of the reasons we even came here).
