It is a privilege to enjoy time at the library and I'm often asking myself why I don't spend more…read moretime there. I had a two hour gap in my schedule so I took my laptop inside and grabbed a comfortable chair. One item that's lacking are available outlets. I'm sure there are a few places to plug in but I didn't find an obvious one near the chairs. The library has one side for younger visitors and readers, along with a small play area. The other side offers a teen area with comfy chairs and several computers. My teen games there periodically with friends after school. In between is a small selection of library books, both fiction and non, plus movie rentals. Workers sit at a couple of desks and I watched them help several visitors and callers. Bulletin boards share flyers for upcoming events. Great for work or reading; however, it's a smaller space so understand you're going to hear kids, conversations and more. If this activity would distract you, you might pick another library. Private parking lot. Very welcoming to nearby students - much appreciated when other businesses shut them out.

This neighborhood branch library is exactly how you'd expect it to be. It's on the smaller side,…read morehas a small book collection and has fewer activities compared to the other branches. But, I love it! It has plenty to offer. True, there are no aisles and aisles of children's books so you can browse through them and pick what you like. But, if you want a particular book, you can request it from any branch and pick it up here. True, they might not host the polar express pj party, but they have regular story times, they host sticker parties and many more. Sure, it don't boast of huge play/activity areas but they have a cute little nook with the cutest ladder that the littles love to climb. They have book sales pretty regularly. The checkout is easy. There are computers you can use. I believe it has a meeting room too. The biggest advantage of this library is its location. When they closed it for around a year, the nearest library to the east end was the new Northeast. That's a good half hour drive from where we live. So, I'm really glad we have one right here in Middletown!

You'll pay a small fee to use them at the passport agency and their clerk will help complete your paperwork, plus verify your signature. This post office offers a decent parking lot as well as a pull through for those not going in, but needing to drop off mail. I've never struggled to find a spot for a quick in and out. The passport office isn't obvious until you are at the door, which is locked and you'll knock on. I stood in line at the mailing line first and they directed me. No need to be there early. My appointment was at 10a, their first, and no one was in the office until 10a. Only one person at a time so you may need to wait outside until the current customer leaves. Friendly service at the passport desk. I'd printed and completed 90% of the application and the clerk did his part plus witnessed my signature. The picture taking was a major close up! Let's say I won't be sharing my passport photo LOL - if you can do your own within the dimensions and make it flattering then I recommend that! Lucky to have this post office close to my home/office.

I began working on the edges of Middletown almost 20 years ago, and back then there was nothing…read moremuch in Middletown that stood out other than a few local shops and cafes on Old Main Street. I also knew of Middletown and Hite Elementary, plus Eastern HS - all good schools. Now, Middletown looks different. I still work nearby and now I live just a couple of stop lights away. It continues to be a good place to shop local on Old Main, including Prickly Pear, Judy's Consignment and shops in the buildings once used as the first grocery store, or post office. Their city hall building also has a small walking circle and tables to enjoy lunch outside. A few local cafes have also remained, such as Alley Cat Cafe. During the fall they host a weekend fair, shutting down the street and shooting off fireworks. For Christmas they light the path with lights. Getting back on Shelbyville Rd, this area has popped with new businesses and restaurants. Most are chains but some are local. Check out the Cheddar Box, Paul's Fruit Market and Havana Rumba. Getting Target and Walmart in Middletown truly changed things. Nothing had been there! Now you'll find things to do and eat all the way to Gene Snyder (and beyond!) - House of Boom, Planet Fitness, Cyclebar, Club Pilates, Feeders Supply and more. Middletown is becoming a popular spot for families to purchase a home, or for new businesses to move in.
