I enjoy seeing this historic landmark when I walk through my neighborhood! This quaint brick building and 1920's gas pump was Middletown's first gas station. It sits on the corner of Main Street and Harrison Avenue in the historic district of downtown Middletown. According to the historic marker, the building was built in the 20's and sold Aetna products, but ceased to be used as a gas station in 1936. Over the years it had various tenants including a dry cleaning office and taxi cab stand. The building was restored in 1996 with aid from the federal government. read more
