My mom is impossible to shop for, so I was super excited when I came across this Mother's Day special on the Akron Glass Works Facebook page. It is a beautiful old church converted into and art space right off of the University of Akron campus. There were about 12 people total with two instructors for the group. They gave a demonstration and then thoroughly went over all the steps with an emphasis on safety. I was a little nervous working with molten hot glass, but the professionalism of the instructors set me at ease. They're by your side the whole time... but you're actually creating the piece yourself. I have been to other glass blowing studios where the instructors are so hands-on, that you feel like you took no part in the entire process. Not this place. I definitely felt like I was making something and they were just there to make sure I didn't burn my hand off. The whole process took less than an hour and our pieces were available for pickup the next day. We each got to make two glass flowers which all turned out beautifully. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something different to do! We had such a great time!

We warmed up at any of the driving, putting and pitching ranges. Caddies directed us to our first tee and told us the rules, showing us their signals. The dinner afterward was very nice. The room with a small bar was perfect. There are three courses here. We played the South course where the pros play. The fairways were beautiful. The caddies made for a good time despite the difficulty of the holes. Be sure to purchase an item from the pro shop. We appreciated playing on this historical course.

This is course that demands respect and every shot needs to be thought through if you want to finish respectable. Hole #1 On this fair opening hole, favor the right side of the fairway to avoid the left side fairway bunker. This will leave a short- to mid-iron into the green guarded by a pond in the front left. Hole #4 This dogleg left requires an accurate tee shot. Any shot left will have trouble with a huge bunker or trees. Any shot right will run through the dogleg possibly behind more trees. The second shot will be a mid- to short-iron to a green guarded by a front left and back right bunker. Hole #7 Another reachable par 5 if you drive it straight and long. The second shot, if you choose to go for it, is a real risk reward shot. The green is surrounded by water on all but the front entrance into the green. This green is very deep with some severe sloping on the front left side. Hole #11 Again, another par 3 that needs accuracy to a narrow but wide green with a lake that guards the front. This green slopes severely from back to front. Hole #18 The tee shot is the key to this hole. Bite off as much as you can on this dogleg right and it is a pretty easy birdie. Water protects the right side of the complete hole. The green is guarded by three front side bunkers and water on the right. A great finishing hole. The amenities are first rate and the staff is.............okay but they are protective of their courses and I'm glad for it. The restaurant is exceptional. You will never be disappointed!

First, I want to be fair because there were many things that were done well. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and the décor came together exactly as we had envisioned. It truly was a beautiful wedding. Many of our guests complimented the food, and several members of the staff, especially Iris at the bar and LaCiana, were incredibly kind, professional, and helpful throughout the day. Their efforts, especially when helping de-escalate stressful moments, did not go unnoticed. What made this experience so disappointing is that we've planned and executed a wedding ourselves before. It was on a much smaller budget and with only about a month to prepare, so we understand firsthand how much work goes into making a wedding successful. Because of that experience, hiring a venue that offered coordination was one of the easiest decisions to make. Not because we couldn't do it ourselves, but because we didn't want to. We wanted the bride and groom, their families, and the bridal party to simply enjoy the day while experienced professionals handled the logistics. Unfortunately, that's not how the day unfolded. Throughout the day, there were communication breakdowns, timeline confusion, setup issues, meal service problems, bar service concerns, and an abrupt end to the reception that left many guests unsure of what was happening. Instead of simply celebrating, members of the bridal party and family found themselves helping manage situations that should have been handled by the professionals hired to coordinate the event. As someone currently pursuing a Business Management degree, I couldn't help but notice that the biggest issue wasn't that mistakes happened. Every wedding has unexpected challenges. The difference is how those challenges are communicated, managed, and resolved. The venue has so much potential, which honestly makes this review even harder to write. I genuinely hope improvements are made because every couple deserves to spend their wedding day fully present, surrounded by the people they love, rather than relying on family and friends to help coordinate the event they paid professionals to manage.
