I just took Kira to have an exam and the bill was $505.35. The exam was maximum 10 minutes, it cost $113. She also had blood work done which she didn't need because of the throat diagnosis she was given that has nothing to do with blood values so the vet shouldn't have suggested it. I said yes to the bloodwork, I would have said no if I had known the cost- $392.22. I feel taken advantage of. So- I've learned the lesson that I need to ask for itemized costs first before I agree to any treatment here. ***** 5/21/24 The care Kira has received at VCA has been exemplary. I am glad I can consolidate all her care to one facility- general care, neurology- Kira had back surgery- and emergency.

The neurologist was great, very attentive, and asked that I update her via email whenever my pup had a seizure. Then, in May 2025, she took a planned 6-month leave. I found out through an automated email when I wrote to report seizure activity as instructed. There was no backup in place, prescriptions could not be refilled, and I was told to find another neurologist without a referral. I found this to be completely irresponsible and a disservice to their patients. The neurologist is now back from leave, and I have called and not received a response or follow-up. They have likely lost more patients than just us. When I called the emergency line last night for guidance on a particularly bad seizure, I was bluntly told they were at capacity (so don't come in) and to call another ER (the ER they told me to call also could not help me). I have had other good ER experiences at VCA in the past, and do not know what has changed to make good service and care nonexistent. So don't waste your precious time and your pet's care on this practice. Try Piper Memorial in Middletown or Guardian in Brewster, NY.

She explained everything about my cat's condition and how to care for it long term. Unlike vets that my cat had been to in the past, the animals are truly cared for here. I had to come back because unfortunately my cat wasn't thriving and it was his time to be put down. While the experience itself is hard no matter where you go, I was beyond touched by how supportive the entire office was during that painful moment. The staff here are angels. I cannot understand how they have 1 bad review because this place is where i will bring future pets. I'm so happy that my baby got to be handled by a place where they all have pure hearts and souls. While I'm heartbroken for having my future pets come and be seen here since I'm beyond satisfied with the way they are. I've never encountered a pet clinic like this one. If you are looking for a pet clinic that will look out for you and your pet, bring them here because you won't regret it. I sure didn't.

Talent with this Petcare experience specifically addresses Ashley who works as a veterinary assistant. Words to describe her are compassionate, thoughtful, meticulous and highly skilled. When you first meet her she has a calm demeanor putting your mind at ease that your precious pet is in the hands of a true professional. Ashley in and of herself is a good enough reason to use Petcare as your Vet. It just so happens though this post also includes a stellar review for the services offered by Dr. deSagun. We all know Tufts is a great school to become a vet but like with any doctor the importance of how you communicate with clients wins the prize. During COVID of course non contact appointments are the safest option which Petcare adheres to. Within a few minutes of appointment termination Dr. deSagun left a comprehensive one minute and five second summary of Bella's health status. This was our second experience with this doctor. Our first experience was equally as satisfying. Dr. deSagun has all the qualities that Ashley exemplifies as a vet assistant mentioned above. Kim and Lexi also gave us a great reference for a groomer Bows & Bandanas in Farmington to have Bella's nails done. HIGHLY recommend! Stay safe everyone!

Connecticut Veterinary Center isn't his usual vet, but it was Sunday, and they were open for emergencies. Lucky for us, there was no wait when we arrived. The nurse took him, and had me wait in the examining room. I'm not sure why we couldn't be together. At his usual vet, they do everything with me there. Shortly after Dr. Fabrizio came to tell me the update. She is super kind, compassionate, answered all of my questions and is very knowledgeable. She told me my boy's kidneys aren't working as well as they once did. As long as he's eating and drinking, he's got more life left in him. I was expecting much worse. She prescribed him antibiotics and infusion. He's at home, he's doing so much better, and he's peeing clear. I am so grateful to the wonderful staff at Connecticut Veterinary Center, especially Dr. Fabrizio for saving my sweet Jude's life.

They were able to do the routine stuff however their ability for anything beyond yearly check up is severely lacking. We had 2 pets there, first a chocolate lab that was a senior, over 10 years old. They were alright, however Dr Dan saw him once and scared us so bad said he had some kind of heart issue and we may need to get him to an emergency vet ASAP, then came back and said he was fine. We did have him looked at an emergency vet and they could find nothing wrong with him. We let that slide, unprofessional and poor bedside manors but whatever. Then about a year later, just this past February, he was very lethargic and having issues, we called and they said it didn't seem like an emergency and they can get him in about 3 weeks. We decided to go to the emergency vet and in a matter of hours he was gone, I understand how busy it can get but the amount they just shrugged us off was disappointing for being with them for so long. Also he was on prescription food, they refused to give the prescription to Chewy and required we go through their own online store. We did, after he passed we got another delivery of his food, a few weeks later we called and asked about a refund in which they said they do not have a process to refund orders for pets who have passed. I explained to them how Chewy handles that situation, I spoke with Devon, he seemed nice however never actually called me back and gave me an answer one way or the other. I called him back again, he said he was "still working on it" and would get back to me by the end of the day. That was 3 days ago and no word at all. Mind you I was asking for a $130 refund after spending $3160 with them in a matter of 4 weeks. Not long after this our other dog, an 8 year old boxer mix needed a mole removed. They performed the operation and from there it went down hill quick. He developed a severe infection close to where the operation was, we brought him back, they did a quick test and gave us an antibiotic. He did not get better at all and kept getting worse, we went back there paid over $600 for additional tests were given a different antibiotic but still having issues. We called this morning to ask about a different form of medicine, maybe a compounded liquid. You would have thought I asked them to launch a space shuttle, nobody had any idea and "needed to consult the vet and get back to us". It took 3 hours to get a call back and they said try hiding the pill in a marshmallow, that was literally their only response. I expressed kindly that I feel my pet is not getting the care he needs and expressed my dissatisfaction that they seem to just just guessing at things and effectively throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. After I expressed that they then said they can send over a prescription to a pharmacy in southington but I was not able to get the prescription myself. They then followed up with an email giving me the pharmacy info and the info of other emergency vet offices and said we should consider a different vet. This was not an issue because I was already looking for a different one. Overall they seem like at best the practice is poorly managed, the doctors and also front desk associates seem to never actually know what's going on or provide any kind of useful information. Honestly the techs that work there are the only bright spot and must be what is keeping them in business. If you need just a basic checkup and "tech" appointment they are alright, if you need an actual vet / doctor appointment unfortunately they seem to not have the skill and ability to properly care for pets beyond the very basics. Overall a very expensive and disappointing experience and worst of all I believe both of my pets received poor care which created more issues and suffering for them.
