Dog walking on arthritic paw after Librela shot

Dr Frishman and his staff were exceptionally attentive to our 7 year old pup who suffers from arthritis and excellent at explaining everything to me. It was like a spa day for our pup... manual massage, a massage gun , acupuncture and a Liberala shot. My dog felt so better the next day. He went from hobbling around on 3 paws before our appointment to practically jogging in a couple of days. I wish I could post a video, the photos are 3 days apart - and you can see before, he's holding up his paw in pain, 3 days later he's putting full pressure on the sane paw!

Handsome Winston on our back porch !

I don't know how that star was given but I give them 0 stars.I brought my healthy 21 month old French bulldog in for a flu shot in June of 2024 and he died in their inhumane care. While we were in the waiting room Winston started to shake with anxiety. I pointed this out to the young girl working there and escorted Winston down the hallway asking to go in the back room with him for support. I was met in the back by 2 other techs who wouldn't allow me to go in with him. I still see that vision of him looking back at me in fear before they took him in and closed that door. What I was told and after seeing the video Winston on a leash was clawing the tile floor trying to get away from the tech after that he went into the corner and urinated and defacated. He wanted no part of this and at that instance they should have stopped the appt and brought him out to us but they proceeded to muzzle him and with his anxiety and lack of air became limp. They didn't know how to administer emergency CPR and called another practice to find out. My baby was gone now. They asked us to come into a room where they told us something had gone terribly wrong, Winston had passed! To make matters worse they brought his dead body into a room and asked us if we were interested in a casket. We told them no so they put him in a temporary box and asked us if we could bring our car around the back so the other dog owners wouldn't see this spectacle.Nice place ,no to us it was an inhumane slaughterhouse. We will get justice for Winston and the real truth will finally come out. JH.

I love my dog more then most people that I know and this is why I use PAW The staff is so attentive, knowledgeable, and really care for your pet. My dog had to have knee surgery, she is only 2. This was very traumatic for both my dog and myself, but thanks to the staff at PAW we are both doing fine. If you are looking for a vet or even a second opinion I would highly suggest you giving them a call. I am sure you will not regret it. Honey Bee and June of Simsbury

Dr. Shagensky and Julie took superior care of my baby.

There are no words to describe the relief I felt when I walked into PAW this morning and saw Dr. Shagensky and his amazing staff waiting for me. I had called in a panic over my sick poodle mix who is like a child to me. The devotion everyone at PAW has to their patients is incredibly clear. Their knowledge, care and skills are exemplary. There cannot possibly be a better vet out there, anywhere.

I have never in my life experienced such an unprofessional and careless veterinary office. I had to…read moretake my 6-month-old puppy to another emergency hospital less than eight hours after leaving this one because his condition rapidly declined. My dog was having a clear negative reaction to a toxin, and we were in this hospital for less than 30 minutes. The "doctor" took him to the back, glanced at him, and made a guess based on something they assumed was from his past. There was no additional testing, no further investigation, and no effort to confirm the diagnosis. I learned later that day that their assumption was completely wrong. By the time we reached the second emergency hospital, my puppy was experiencing tremors, seizures, instability, and could barely walk. Even worse, his gums were pale while we were still at the first hospital, and they didn't even give basic supportive care like IV fluids. What makes this even more disappointing is the interaction I had later that day with the receptionist. When I called--scared, confused, and simply trying to confirm the doctor's notes--she was inconsiderate, defensive, and extremely unprofessional. Instead of listening to a worried pet parent, she acted like a snarky child, cutting me off, speaking short, and giving attitude as if my questions were an inconvenience. It is terrifying that this is one of the only emergency hospitals within a reasonable distance, because the level of care we received was unacceptable. As a pet parent, I rely on trained professionals to guide me--especially when I'm not educated in veterinary medicine. Having to fully trust a medical team that provided such minimal, dismissive, and incomplete care of a 6-month-old puppy is beyond concerning. For an emergency/surgery-focused facility, you would expect attention to detail, urgency, and compassion. What we experienced was the exact opposite. This could have cost my puppy his life.

They were able to do the routine stuff however their ability for anything beyond yearly check up is severely lacking. We had 2 pets there, first a chocolate lab that was a senior, over 10 years old. They were alright, however Dr Dan saw him once and scared us so bad said he had some kind of heart issue and we may need to get him to an emergency vet ASAP, then came back and said he was fine. We did have him looked at an emergency vet and they could find nothing wrong with him. We let that slide, unprofessional and poor bedside manors but whatever. Then about a year later, just this past February, he was very lethargic and having issues, we called and they said it didn't seem like an emergency and they can get him in about 3 weeks. We decided to go to the emergency vet and in a matter of hours he was gone, I understand how busy it can get but the amount they just shrugged us off was disappointing for being with them for so long. Also he was on prescription food, they refused to give the prescription to Chewy and required we go through their own online store. We did, after he passed we got another delivery of his food, a few weeks later we called and asked about a refund in which they said they do not have a process to refund orders for pets who have passed. I explained to them how Chewy handles that situation, I spoke with Devon, he seemed nice however never actually called me back and gave me an answer one way or the other. I called him back again, he said he was "still working on it" and would get back to me by the end of the day. That was 3 days ago and no word at all. Mind you I was asking for a $130 refund after spending $3160 with them in a matter of 4 weeks. Not long after this our other dog, an 8 year old boxer mix needed a mole removed. They performed the operation and from there it went down hill quick. He developed a severe infection close to where the operation was, we brought him back, they did a quick test and gave us an antibiotic. He did not get better at all and kept getting worse, we went back there paid over $600 for additional tests were given a different antibiotic but still having issues. We called this morning to ask about a different form of medicine, maybe a compounded liquid. You would have thought I asked them to launch a space shuttle, nobody had any idea and "needed to consult the vet and get back to us". It took 3 hours to get a call back and they said try hiding the pill in a marshmallow, that was literally their only response. I expressed kindly that I feel my pet is not getting the care he needs and expressed my dissatisfaction that they seem to just just guessing at things and effectively throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. After I expressed that they then said they can send over a prescription to a pharmacy in southington but I was not able to get the prescription myself. They then followed up with an email giving me the pharmacy info and the info of other emergency vet offices and said we should consider a different vet. This was not an issue because I was already looking for a different one. Overall they seem like at best the practice is poorly managed, the doctors and also front desk associates seem to never actually know what's going on or provide any kind of useful information. Honestly the techs that work there are the only bright spot and must be what is keeping them in business. If you need just a basic checkup and "tech" appointment they are alright, if you need an actual vet / doctor appointment unfortunately they seem to not have the skill and ability to properly care for pets beyond the very basics. Overall a very expensive and disappointing experience and worst of all I believe both of my pets received poor care which created more issues and suffering for them.
