Dr. Mcnabb was awesome, she genuinely cares about the animals and their wellbeing. The staff was so sweet. Thank you so much for comforting my puppy. I would recommend this place a million times if I could. I left crying, but out of happiness for the help they gave me with my puppy Parcha. Thank you all for what you do.

I've been here twice now with two of my cats. I am so deeply grateful for this practice. Them being open 24 hrs was the game changer. Both times I needed to get my cats seen were well after 5 pm. I would go in regularly to visit my cat the first time I went. They are just a very helpful and caring facility. I will 100% continue going here when I need to.

Our fur baby Justice was very sick when we went to VEG, the patience and care everyone did for our boy was simply amazing...they were upfront and explaned everything they were going to do, unfortunately he did not make it. The compassion of all the staff was simply amazing. I highly recommend. Cynthia and Joseph Schmidt 10/23/2024

By the time we arrived at Pet ER, there was nothing they could do to save our precious Mickey. Indeed, he passed somewhere during our frantic drive, between our house and their facility. The care and compassion that shown to us by the Pet ER of Columbia staff in immediately bringing us to an examination room and verifying that he was beyond saving was the best care one could ask for. Above that, the staff's offer to allow us time to say goodbye to our beloved family member, in our shock and grief, despite a busy waiting room filled with other customers was as much medicine for my wife and I in our shock and grief, as any pills. The Pet ER of Columbia staff displayed tremendous care and understanding in advising us regarding Mickey's final arrangements and then later when we collected his ashes. Already impressed by their professionalism and care, we were surprised and touched when unexpectedly, two weeks after Mickey's passing, we received a condolence card in the mail, hand signed by each of their staff. We did not get the opportunity to experience Pet ER of Columbia's veterinary services. If the compassionate, consideration for us as owners is any indication of the care they show for our furry family members, then I have no doubt that this review would be a glowing endorsement. What I can say, is that their staff provided the best, and most compassionate care to grieving pet owners that I have ever received. For that, I recommend them. If and when we decide to invite another animal into our lives, we plan to trust Pet ER of Columbia with their care. ,

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET IF THERE IS MATTING!…read more I was informed on a Friday that the animal could not be taken because the rabies vaccine wasn't completed; fine, I scheduled with Vetco on a Sunday, got the dog's last rabies shot and returned just a few days later Tuesday to get the grooming complete. I was asked by the staff member to come early because they learned that the dog had some matting and that it would take longer. I obliged, left work 3 hours early, and showed up with the dog. The groomer tells me that the matting is too bad and that they do not have the proper tools to take care of the dog. As if their staff didn't just see the same dog 4 days prior to. I was referred to a Pet ER in the area, to which when contacting stated, "they don't know why Petco staff recommended me to them, they are a medical facility!" Again, do not take your pet to Petco if there is matting. This is a rescue pup, barely 2 years old (a Maltese) only 8 lbs., that has vaccines up to date. If you're going to be called a Groomers, you should have every single tool available to GROOM an animal. Not only a waste of my time, but the dog that was so "uncomfortable" now has to suffer longer, because of the incompetence of this staff! Stay away, unless you just need the basic care for your animal.

My dog's kidney levels are off (which I paid out the ass for the bloodwork). I was there on September 14th, and they didn't get back to me with a prescription til the 5th of October. I tried ordering the proper food off Amazon, which they need vet approval, and time went by, and I got denied for the food to help with her kidney's, due to their negligence of not responding. It's ludicrous cuz they are the ones who told me to put my dog on a special diet in the first place! So I'm watching my dog's health declining, while the vet doesn't respond to ANYTHING, and they just sit on their ass and collect ridiculous money! I don't know why my friend suggested this vet to begin with, but I'm pissed beyond belief! I also got a supplement to possibly help, which I emailed them about, to see if I could give it to my dog, and I still have yet to hear from them. The also charged me $25 to get her nails cut, which they didn't tell me the price til after the fact! Absolutely ridiculous! I'll go to Petco next time, cuz they are $10 cheaper. DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!!!! They don't give two shits about your pet, and they only care about the money!!! I'm definitely seeking out another vet ASAP!!!

He has used every department of Rocky Gorge - boarding, veterinary care, traveling papers, er, grooming... I've always felt Rocky Gorge was a nice place, and appreciated the care, diligence, and gentleness that Dr Farnam demonstrated on many vet visits across the years. *** EDIT: I have revised the rating to reflect the overall service provided by Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital across the years Mr Monster has been a client there. The only time I had a problem was with that ER doctor, and my inability to speak with anyone following the ER visit. *** Recently Monster's health has taken a turn for the worse. He is in great discomfort, and has stopped eating. I took him to the ER and saw Dr Bricker, who was amazing. Thorough, patient, informative, and as effective as possible, given the situation (Monster is an elderly cat with complex health issues, making diagnosis difficult). He provided a week of medications, with instructions to come back the following week for blood work, and call regarding changes. This included pain killers, which are key for keeping Monster feeling OK. Well, Mr Monster seemed to do well, and stated eating. Then he stopped. Suddenly hated the smell of his own food. Ran downstairs when and hid I tried to give him breakfast. Last night, I brought him in (6 days after prior visit). Hoping to see Dr Bricker again on the overnight shift. But it was a different doctor, a black doctor whose name I can't remember. She ran the blood work, then said that she could recommend two options: Taking Monster to another hospital that can provide cat blood transfusion, IV, and ultrasound to inspect his organs, which were swollen. This visit would cost $3000-5000, payed up front. The other option was giving him steroids, she said. She reasoned that he could potentially benefit from them because his white blood cell count was disturbingly high, a clear sign of a problem that might be inflammation. However, she said the steroids could cause great harm, and it would be a gamble. SHE DID NOT MENTION NOR OFFER PALLIATIVE CARE. Presented with this false dilemma, and not wanting to gamble with my beloved pet's well-being, I opted to try to find the money for the hospital admission. But I couldn't find it at 2:30 AM. So I told the Dr I'd need time to find the money. I pointed out that Mr Monster was done with his pain medication which was prescribed by Dr Bricker. Only after I directly asked her to provide him pain medication did she agree to give him a shot. This was a cat who had been on heavy pain medication a week, whose conditioned worsened! Upon getting home and discussing the situation with my husband, as well as researching potential diagnoses given his symptom, we came to believe (based on his symptoms) that our beloved Mr Monster was most likely facing a serious health problem, and the ultrasound would likely show something like lymphoma, something horrible. Which meant he has very low survival options. So he could go through all these tests only to find he needed treatment which was too painful and hard on the body for him to endure after literally STARVING for a week. We came to believe palliative care was the responsible and kind solution. But here's the problem. We don't want his last hours to be at Rocky Gorge animal hospital. I want to schedule it at home. I have asked Rocky Gorge to please call me to discuss whether palliative care is possible. It's been 6 hours. They haven't called back. He has no backup painkiller. He is due fro another dose. My heart is breaking because my baby is in pain. All I want is to make him comfortable! I AM HORRIFIED THE ER DOC FAILED TO OFFER PALLIATIVE CARE AS AN OPTION. I AM HORRIFIED SHE IGNORED HIS PAIN. I AM HORRIFIED THE ONLY CHOICE I WAS GIVEN WAS $3000-5000 DIAGNOSTICS OR A SHOT OF STEROIDS. My poor baby deserves comfort. He hasn't been eating for over a week, except tiny bites here and there. He is in great pain from his organs, which are swollen. He is anemic. His white blood cell count is high. ROCKY GORGE IS FAILING MR MONSTER IN HIS GREATEST TIME OF NEED AFTER 15 YEARS AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER. Edit continued: I took Mr Monster to the ER a third time, and spoke with Dr Weller. She was much more sympathetic and helpful. She understood the need for palliative care, and said that if Mr Monster were her cat, she would not put him through the painful and frightening hospital stay. He was elderly, and not in good health. Quality of life is important. It helped me a LOT to hear a vet say they agreed with palliative care and ultimately euthanasia. We discussed the signals to watch for to end it. Dr Weller gave us the pain meds needed to keep Monster comfortable until he was euthanized at home. I appreciated her assistance. He showed some neurological symptoms in the end, which I read suggests either stage V lymphoma, or stage IV renal lymphoma.
