Ours was a pretty routine procedure. Our 2 year old Golden Retriever had just chewed up our oldest grandson's magic wand. Tin foil, ribbons and tiny stars along with a wooden dowel were gone. We arrived on a Saturday at noon and sat in our car until a room opened up. Within 30 minutes our baby was puking his guts up. 1 hour later we were on our way. Very caring staff. The doctor clearly loved his job. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The techs were wonderful and gentle with my pup. We got lucky and arrived at a relatively slow time, so we barely had to wait to be seen. Pricing was as expected for emergency services. We even witnessed the veterinarian who helped us, assisting some people with jumping their car battery. They really seem to go above and beyond here. read more

I do not recommend this place to anyone... The doctor Raymon was very rude and did not seem like he knew what he was doing. The whole time he was giving me analogies about random stuff that had nothing to do with the problem that was going on with my pet . He also told me that he had pressed down on my dogs pressure points until she turned purple... who in the world what's to hear that when you seeking help your pet that obviously isn't doing well. read more

I was very disappointed by our emergency vet experience. We arrived on a Friday at 5:00 when they opened per our vet recommendation in case our cat needed x-rays. The reason for the visit was our 17-year-old cat within a few hours could no longer use his back legs. He did not appear to have any feeling in them but did not appear to be in any pain. The vet came to talk to us and asked us to explain what had happened and then she wanted to know if he was eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom which he was. She then advised us of the possible causes due to the issues he was having. She said she did not believe an x-ray would tell her anything. She said they were going to do bloodwork and a physical and then we would discuss a plan. During the physical she said our cat had a heart murmur, his one kidney was swollen, and his other kidney was not in the correct location. During this whole appointment, our cat was purring, licking and happy as always and the vet and vet tech had both mentioned how sweet he was. As soon as the physical was over, she said well it appears your cat has a blood clot, and we should put him down. We were shocked since she had done no other testing. We asked how she could know that, and she said the only 100% way to prove that would be to take him to Ann Arbor for an MRI, but she could tell from what she was feeling. She then said she was shocked he wasn't in more pain. She said she would step out so we could talk then she would be back to put him to sleep. When she left, we agreed we were not putting him to sleep, and we were taking him home. When she came back, and we advised her of this she tried to guilt trip us by saying that the office closed at midnight and our cat would be in extreme pain and we would have to wait until they opened the next day. I told her we were leaving so they had me sign a form that I was going against her advice. I also asked for a pain prescription in case he needed it before we could get him somewhere and they refused. Over the next 24 hours we made sure our cat ate, drank, and got to the litter box. Then he started dragging, half walking himself to his bowls and the litter box. Within two days he was using his legs again and jumping on beds and couches again. It has now been 3 weeks, and our cat is happy and doing well. If we had followed the vet's advice, we would have missed out on all this additional time with our cat. We understand he is 17 years old and is not in the best health, but he is also still not in any pain. We will definitely not be going back to this facility again. We ask that your vets consider not making snap judgements and consider the cats behavior when trying to determine the issue. read more

What a great place to take your pets in a time of need! These people are literal miracle workers! With only 2 vet nurses, 2 assistants, 1 receptionist and 1 doctor they were able to get me seen in less than 30 minutes and were able to give me peace of mind that my cat was in the best hands. Medvet (to no fault of their own) quoted me 3 hours before I even walked into the building. The staff here were very friendly and took my concerns seriously, and for an ER fee and treatment not even hitting my $250 pet insurance deductible? Unheard of. The care and compassion we received for my 15 1/2 year old dog during her final time on earth was absolutely outstanding. Her vet she had her entire life was not caring at all and was going to make her suffer for days. We brought her here and the entire staff was wonderful. I just can't say enough good. DO NOT TAKE UR ANIMAL HERE IF u WANT any chance of helping it. I had a baby kitten that was not moving and all they did was say ok well the body temp is at 96 so it's not looking good smfh and the kitten was in way worse shape after there tech literally just grabbed it up like a rag doll and they just so happen to not mention if I were to heat the kitten up and put some kayro on its gums to get sugar in its body it still could survive and then I could deal with any other issues...THEY LET MY KITTEN suffer for another 30 min before even starting the process to put it to sleep and it ended up taking its last breath without me and with a stranger....this could have been prevented and there were options to save my lil guy and they could have cared less and they made it worse for my baby read more

The staff was initially very friendly. After the initial examination of our nauseous dog, a choice was offered between two interventions costing either around $600 or $800. Multiple services were listed but nothing was itemized. When we asked for an itemized breakdown of costs, the staff quickly became irritated and blamed the inability on the computer system. I have no doubt many customers are bullied into making split second decisions about the care of their pets without actually understanding what they are paying for. Shameful. read more

Sadly my cat of 13 years took a dramatic turn for the worse. I took her here at about 3am to put my cat down. The staff here was very responsive, respectful and caring for my cat. Very strongly recommend in any pet emergency!!! Furthermore, to my pleasant surprise, today I received a "Thinking of You" card from the staff. That was over the top professionalism!!!! Horrible place. All they care about is money. Staff is nice. But the care your pet needs is all about money. They offer lots of test, pay first then they will help your special animal. If I could give a negative review I would. AVOID this place. The Vet Techs there are rude rude rude. They make The Central Park Karen look sweet. The wait is unreal. And no one updates you with the wait time. If you annoy them by calling then they call you and scream at you and tell you to go to Med Vet, their competitor. They are busy "Triaging" they love that word. Feel bad for the animals and the Vets who have to work with them. read more

Most certainly not in it for the money! I had to rush my cat in on the weekend, and they did a full work up on her and couldn't find anything wrong. She started up with the same symptoms, only worse, later that evening, and Dr. Charlie found the issue immediately. He didn't charge me for the exam- only the meds I took home with me. I took her back the following weekend, and saw Dr. Charlie again. He gave me a discounted exam price since I had just been in recently. Highly recommend. read more

My dog received treatment and her meds for a great price. I was very impressed with the center. Worst vet around, our dog was hit by a car and when we got there they took him in and we sat in the parking lot for 2hours with no communication from them. We tried the phone 2-3 times with no answer. They won't even keep him overnight with a broken leg. read more

Very unhappy with the care that was provided. Payed $450 get stiches put in my dog and followed all the rules and 2 days later the stitches broke back open. Only put internal dissolvable stiches in my hyper dog and thought that was going to hold. Called back up there and they wanted to charger me another $450 to do the same thing that was never done right in the first place. Very unhappy glad they are more worried about their pocket books then they are about an animal suffering. read more

This emergency vet office is the very best. We had an emergency with our cat Coco. He had multiple blood clots and there unfortunately there was no way to save him. the staff was poor the friday I took my dog in and it never got any better. Money is the only care these people care about. I had to put my dog down on monday after her visit at this hospital. The staff kept calling my female dog a male as the did not care for her and just let her lay in her kennel all weekend other then when I visited. Then called me at 758 monday morning to tell me I had to move my sick dog out of there building by 8am while I was at work and on the other end of town. Staff said nothing to me all day sunday as I visited twice that day, One star is too much, this place should be closed before they hurt other peoples pets. read more

Please save your dog from an unnecessary tragedy.Marilyn Schmukler Please Do NOT use this emergency vet facility. The unprofessional lack of care our dog Bennie received there two weeks ago caused his death. Dr. Von Almen and Dr. Gardam were in charge of taking care of him. They promised to take an Xray prior to operating on him for a "possible foreign object. Instead Dr. Gardam did unneeded exploratory surgery on Bennie-took an XRAY AFTERWARDS-and found nothing in his abdomen. Only then did she take an Xray-and found 1/4 of a Pepto Bismol pill in his rectum-and removed it with her finger. He started having seizures in the middle of the night (never had them before) due to lack of Glucose-and he died in my arms moments after picking him at 7 AM that morning. The vet tech on call there told me "he was just up and walking around"right before we came-not true as even shown on copies of his treatment notes. Nothing can ever bring him back, but we hope that this warning will help another dog be saved from unnecessary death at the hands of these vets. I had to bring my dog here because my regular Vet was closed and I needed immediate care. They were extremely helpful and caring. They were able to do the diagnostic testing needed to find out what was wrong with my dog, and were able to give me medications that night for him. I highly recommend Dogwood. Excellent staff and Doctors were very personable and knowledgeable. Cost is average for an emergency clinic. read more

NEVER EVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. I took my pup here because she woke up in pain in the middle of the night. They kept her for 12 hours, ran tests and gave her fluids. They said she was dehydrated and had constipation. Sent me home and told me to give her a laxative. My dog was still in pain and uncomfortable. I took her to our vet and a neurologist the next day and it turns out she has a ruptured disc. This vet is unqualified and the service my dog received is poor. They do not care about their patients or their family. They let her pee on herself and suffer in their crate for 12 hours not treating the issue or trying to find out what the issue is. I am so disgusted with this vet they should not be in business. If you want someone to take care and provide proper treatment for your pet do not take them to Dogwood. read more

They were friendly, knowledgeable and best of all, extremely affordable. I took my dog there last summer in the early morning hours of a Sunday. The vet we go to couldn't see her on Saturday morning, although she was still sick after previous treatment. When I came home from work that night, I was afraid that she wouldn't make it to Monday so I searched for emergency clinics. Dr. Charlie was great! I couldn't afford expensive tests, so he just used his diagnostic skill by asking me questions about her symptoms. His diagnosis and the medication were just right! It happened to be a problem that she has had before and our vet missed it. I wish I could just take her there all the time.
