I still love Total Pet Care for their excellent boarding services and vet care but wanted to write an update about how disappointed I am in the grooming my dog recently had. I have a 6 year old long haired dachshund who I have always groomed myself. I like to shave his hair short and then wash him well to make sure all the trimmed hair is off his body. I decided to have it done professionally for the first time and when I brought my dog home he kept rubbing against the sofa and lying on his back to rub himself almost all day for a week straight. These are things he's never done before. Thinking he was allergic to the shampoo used at the vet, I took him a bath at home and was shocked and infuriated at how much trimmed hair came off him. Did the groomer shave him and not give him a bath afterward or did she just give him a crappy bath? Once I cleaned him he no longer rubbed himself due to discomfort but he began chewing on his paw until it was raw. I had to take him to the vet who told me it was infact an allergic reaction so he gave my dog a cortisone shot and antibiotics. And this I paid for out of my own pocket without so much as a sorry from the staff. I will NEVER take my dog there again for grooming. read more

I have been treated like the enemy after years of paying in full at the time of service. I will save no more pets if this is the way I am going to be treated by veterinarians. Dr. Gary was so much more kind. Good luck to those who have service. read more

I'm only giving them 1 star, because Zero is not an option. They have consistently added on sketchy meds or services when we arrive to pick our dog after boarding or grooming. But last weekend, when we had a friend pick him up from boarding (because they are no longer open on Sundays so that they can tack on an extra day of boarding), they had charged us for an 'Unexpected Medical Condition' exam ($47), medicated body mousse ($34), and oral pills ($33) all for his 'dry skin'. Now, mind you, they did this with no communication to us. We never received a phone call or text or email about the situation. Our friend didn't know what to do, since we were out of town (and we had assured him the bill was already paid). He paid it out of his pocket, and we got the news when we arrived home Sunday morning. When I was finally able to speak to someone there today, she (Brittany) reminded me that we signed a waiver allowing them to treat our dog in the event that they felt he needed medical care. I argued that a 'skin condition' hardly warrants emergency attention. She repeatedly stated that it was for 'Unexpected Medical Conditions', which weren't always emergencies. She was unsympathetic and told me they wouldn't take the meds back (even though we didn't authorize them), nor could they do anything for me, since I had signed the waiver when we 1st started going there a few years ago. I asked her to email me the waiver, which she did. Upon examination of said waiver, it describes conditions that pets may exhibit when being boarded, that may require medical attention: pets refusing to eat, vomiting, or having bouts of diarrhea. It also said, '...for these and any other emergencies, veterinary intervention may be required'. A skin condition? And, I also found out that they only decided to 'examine' him AFTER his grooming on Saturday morning, just prior to our friend picking him up. So, they certainly could have waited and asked, or better yet CALLED, to ask if we wanted to pursue treatment. I'm so disappointed, because we've been told by several friends that they've been scammed into having to pay for extra treatments here, or been charged more than quoted, or had services added after the fact. But, I didn't listen. I made the mistake of TRUSTING them. Never again. Not only will I be disputing these charges legally, but they've lost a long time customer. We already stopped going there for veterinary care because their prices are outrageous. Now we won't be using them for ANY services. If you want a great vet, go to Banfield Pet Hospital, inside PetSmart. They are amazing, knowledgeable, great with pets, have great prices, have better hours, AND they won't try to take advantage of their customers just to make a quick buck! read more

I have boarded my bulldog here before for a day with no problems. Recently I boarded him for five days. Upon my return I find he has a UTI, redness in one eye and signs of a possible cold. The vet was nowhere to be found so I immediately took him to my vet. They said not only did he have a cold, but he had the worst case of conjunctivitis they have ever seen. Total pet care's vet called me back 3 hours after leaving, to tell me they thought it was simply redness due to excitement! If you value the wellbeing of your pet, I would not recommend leaving them in this facility. read more

They lied and said my dog had whipworm only to scam me out of $400 and 3 days later I went to get a 2nd opinion and found out dog didn't have the whipworm. Run for your lives and don't take your pets here. They are rude and untrustworthy and they will steal from you in this pandemic and since you can't come into the facility to see the results - you just believe them! At first I did but now I know the truth. I am not done with them. read more

I absolutely love Total Pet Care. The care and concern from the veterinarians and vet techs are outstanding. I would NOT trust my Greyhounds to any other vet mainly because 3 of the TPC vets attended The Ohio State University that has a speciality program focused on Greyhounds. I am always informed with lots of details and explanations and invited to ask questions so I have a clear understanding of medical care, xrays, medications, etc. The prices are extremely reasonable. Rachel and Lindsay demonstrate top notch care and are incredibly attentive and affectionate with both of my Greyhounds, and the feeling from my dogs is mutual! LOST MY PATRONAGE! (Former customer of approximately EIGHT years) They are REQUIRING the canine influenza shot unless they are convinced by a veterinarian that the shot should not be administered. My two dogs -- who are in their twilight years and suffer from digestive ailments -- are NOT to receive the shot for a variety of solid, medical reasons explained to me by two well-respected veterinarians. I will not beg and plead my cases with TPC after being told by one employee that the shots are MANDATORY... and later by a manager that my cases will be considered by their medical staff. No! I am gladly headed elsewhere. Additionally, I never really cared for their high-volume environment and sluggish turnaround times. The price is good if you are patient, but the "MANDATORY" canine influenza shot may actually be required -- while other groomers have not created such policies. read more

I give them 2 stars because the place was clean and they are close to my home but they do not know how to clip dogs nails as I have a 10 lbs dog that needed his nails trimmed and they could not hold him to do it. The second time they asked us to give him Valium to calm him but they could not do it because they said he was too upset. I took him to our old vet that was further away undrugged and 10 Mins later he was done. Also they wanted to charge 350 for cleaning his teeth and my old vet charged 200. Needles to say we are going back to our old vet. It's worth the drive. read more

We had to take our sick cat in to be euthanized and when we arrived the staff met us at the door and took us directly to a private area and were extremely accommodating, caring, and kind. Although it was such an extremely devastating experience, the staff made it more bearable. Thank you so much for everything. read more

My dog is 12 years old. We have moved a few times, so he's visited several veterinary clinics. Total Pet Care is the best he's had. The doctor's are thorough and take time to explain issues. The groomers "aim to please" and pay attention to details. My dog only eats prescription dog food. The last time his food was getting low, there was a problem with the order being delivered. I mistakenly tried to call the office on a holiday. Although the office was closed, the owner answered. I told him that my dog was almost out of food. He told me that he'd look into the matter. The next day he was at my door, after driving through a snow storm, with a small bag of food to hold us over until the order was received. He also discounted the price to reflect the per pound price of a larger bag. That's how a business operates when they really care about your pets. read more

Terrible, I took my dog there when they first opened up and when I went to pick her up I heard an awful noise. It was my dog trying to breath. The vet came out and looked down at her and said it's a little dog thing. They gave zero fucks. Ten minutes later and she would have died. read more

As I stood there with my dead cat in hand after spending almost $1,000 for surgery they insisted i pay up front to have my cat cremated.... and charged me $180,00 where another local vet only charged a friend $80.00 to have her cat cremated???? Never again....... read more

When I have to board my Miniature Schnauzer for whatever reason I always take her to TPC. They take good care of her and she is thrilled when she goes over there - it's like she knows she's going on doggie vacation. When I pick her up after an extended stay she always seems well adjusted and quickly adapts to living at home again w/o problems. In my estimation, that shows good dog care. I did get a call once from the staff telling me that she wasn't eating and was it OK if they tried some canned dog food at a modest extra charge. I agreed and the dog ate it up! She's quite the prankster. Anyway, I highly recommend TPC for boarding - they give excellent care and all for a very reasonable price. read more
