    A Walk in the Park

AWITP is much more than just a boarding kennel. Dirk also offers day care, grooming, obedience…read moretraining, and a couple times per week, he and his staff will take the dogs for an actual walk in one of the actually metro parks. The facility was built with dogs in mind...before it was A Walk In The Park, the building was the home of the Toledo Area Humane Society. The building is more than large enough, and the yard is even bigger. The staff is awesome...just plain awesome. You can tell that every single person working here really loves dogs, and the dogs, at least my dog, seems to love all of them. We recently left our puppy here when we weren't able to take him with us on vacation. My wife, who still does Facebook (LOL), logged in daily to see videos and pix of the pack including our boy, so she and the kids (and me too, I guess) felt connected. When we got home and went to pick him up, he was happy to see all four of us, but he didn't want to leave...I guess dogs really are pack animals. We also utilize doggie daycare a couple time per week. As far as pet safety goes, and I might not have this exactly right, but I think the dogs are grouped by age and size. That is, the large breed puppies are kept together, and the small breed puppies are keep together. The large breed adults are kept together...etc. In other words, you don't have to worry about your chihuahua pup getting eaten by a Doberman. Great business, and great location. Five stars.

I have been taking my dog to AWITP for a little over 3years for day care, boarding, and grooming…read moreand I couldn't be happier (more importantly my dog couldn't be happier)! Dirk is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about dogs. The dogs are engaged physically, mentally and socially while in their care. They are never stuck in a kennel for the day. At night the dogs sleep in bedrooms together with a staff member present at all times. His staff is top notch - friendly, reliable, and well educated on dog handling. AWITP is the only place for my dog care needs - my pup loves her time on the "ranch". I highly recommend!

I was pretty excited when I initially hired Toni to do some cat-sitting things for my elderly…read moremother. Things like taking the cat to the vet, changing litter, some grooming. She was very sweet on the phone and via email. She was licensed, insured, and certified, which made me feel confident about our burgeoning business relationship. She had contracts, and she provided them to me in a timely fashion electronically. But then, a week or so later, after the contracts were negotiated and signed, she informed me that her rates weren't accurately-represented in her contract, and she would need to charge extra for things like transportation to the vet. Simple enough, right? So I asked her to provide me with a new contract that specified her rate schedule and we could renegotiate. Not unusual, pretty average stuff in business. However, in response to this, she said that my request was "too technical" and was "making her nervous." She also didn't have receipts to provide for individual payments in cash, which is unusual. She was a very nice lady, and I'm sure she is great with animals, but it was all really unprofessional in the end. I expect this sort of behavior from the neighbor kid I hire to mow the lawn. Not from someone who runs a small business.

I used Pet Amigo and everything was great then they raised their rates. The reason why I decided to…read moreterminate their service was the gal that usually watched my dogs left and I was told that they would charge me an additional rate for the new person to come to my house to learn the routine.(I have special needs dogs) I should not be charged due to their employee issues. When I emailed them that i was not going to be using them then they told me that I misunderstood that they would never have charged me then they threw an employee under the bus saying they must have misunderstood. I asked for my key back and they gave me my old keys (had new locks put in so they got the new keys) then asked for my new keys and they didn't know where it was and asked me to described it. When I got both keys back I realized dangling on my original key was a copy of my house key. They never had authorization to make a copy of my house key nor did they tell me they had that done. Overall, I would not recommed this company. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
